  • We performed the cross-correlation analysis on energy-dependent light curves of the Z-type source GX 5-1. We observed X-ray delays of a few hundred seconds between hard (16-30 keV) and soft (2-5 keV) X-ray light curves. During these phenomena, the centroid frequency of horizontal branch oscillation (HBO) was found to shift to lower or higher frequency indicating towards the dynamical movement of a Compton cloud or an inner disk front. Both eastern and western approaches were used to unfold the X-ray continuum and systematic changes were observed in soft and hard X-ray spectral components. Simultaneous energy spectral and power density spectral study shows that the production of HBOs is closely related to the Comptonizing region rather than the accretion disk. We discuss the results in the context of re-condensation of coronal material in the inner accretion disk region.

  • In his work, the influence of wire type conducting particles on the insulation reliability of GIS has been systematically investigated when the epoxy resin based dielectric coating was made on he inner side of outer electrode. For this purpose, coaxial cylinder-type electrode was adopted in 362 kV chamber and various sizes of Cu conducting particle were used under different gas pressures. In order to elucidate the coating effect on the gas insulation, different thickness of dielectric coating has been considered and then the lift-off voltage and flashover voltages have been measured. The results shown that the dielectric coating has a remarkable influence by restraining the movement of particle in GIS system, and thus GIS insulation reliability is noticeably improved.

  • Wang Bing reorganized "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon Essential Questions" by adding 7 more volumes to the original 9 volumes and made it 24 volumes. And also rearranged the order in "preservation of health", "yinyang and five phases", "visceral manifestation", "treatment", "pulsation", "the channels", "diseases", "acupuncture ", "movement of the qi", "medical virtue", "wanton theory" etc. Though this, Wang Bing hoped the "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon Essential Questions" to be reborn into a systematic and methodical medical book. Taoism, which is one of the characteristics of Wang Bing's medical conception, is revealed in both the contents of the book and the rearrangement of the book's order. Another feature is that he explains most of the diseases by the channel theory. His insists the script be interpretated in a new way that fits the situation and not to be bound to the words it self. And this also shows one of his conception of medicine.

  • In the present study, we designed a microfluidic flatform that generates monodisperse droplets with diameters ranging from hundreds of nanometers to several micrometers. To generate fine droplets, T-junction and flow-focusing geometry are integrated into the microfluidic channel. Relatively large aqueous droplets are generated at the upstream T-junction and transported toward the flow-focusing geometry, where each droplet is broken up into the targeted size by the action of viscous stresses. Because the droplet prior to rupture blocks the straight channel that leads to the flow-focusing geometry, it moves very slowly by the pressure difference applied between the advancing and receding regions of the moving droplet. This configuration enables very low flow rate of inner fluid and higher flow rate ratio between inner and outer fluids at the flow-focusing region. It is shown that the present microfluidic device can generate droplets with diameters about 1 micrometer size and standard deviation less than 3%.

  • In the present experimental study, the effect of interfacial tensions on pressure drop of air-water two-phase flow in round mini-channels was investigated. A glass (highly wettable) tube and a Teflon (poorly wettable) tube, both in 350 mm length but 1.8 mm and 1.59 mm in inner diameters each, were used for the tests. All the experiments were performed only in the plug flow regime, confirmed by visualization. In the glass tube, the gas plugs were surrounded by the liquid film along the inner periphery. On the other hand, the inner wall remained dry at the gas portion in the Teflon tube. The pressure drop of the plug flow in the Teflon tube without the liquid film) appeared much larger than in the glass tube (with the liquid film) due to dissipation of energy by movement of the wetting lines. In this paper, various correlations on the two-phase pressure drop of plug flows were compared and a modified correlation was proposed, taking account of the surface wettability.

  • In this paper, in order to explicate how mathematics education can contribute to humanity education, I enquired in which position mathematics occupy in Froebel's For this, I examined Froebel's theory of humanity education, his theory of mathematics education, and the applicational problem of his thoughts to nowaday education. Froebel's educational theory is based on the concept of the Divine Unity which is relevant to the notion of 'The Absolute' of Fichte, Schelling, Hegel. He claims that from inanimate objects to human being, all is subject to the eternal law, which is presided by God. So the world itself is the representation of this law of the Divine Unity and education consists in leading man to conscious and free representation of it. The revealing process of the inner law of the Divine Unity can be attained through the awareness of the divinity which resides in the self. And this process of self-consciousness is dialectical movement of the two opposites, i.e. 'inner' and 'outer' Froebel suggests that mathematics is the mediator between the inner and outer world, i.e. he suggests that since both human being and nature are the representations of the Divine Unity, mathematics is both the pure human spirits and the law of nature. Having such a role, mathematics becomes the main discipline in education. Though there are some criticism on Froebel's educational thoughts on mathematics discussed in this paper, it can provide a typical answer to the question about how mathematics education contributes to humanity education.

  • When shooting small arms, the inner surface temperature is heated up to about $700{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$ by the friction of the bullet and the inner wall of the barrel and the combustion of propellant. High-temperature propellant gas and high-speed movement of the bullet cause corrosion of the inner wall, which is noticeable immediately in front of the chamber. In this study, the mechanical properties of Cr-Mo-V steel, which is the base material, were tested using Taguchi experimental design to find the best nitriding treatment conditions. For the nitriding process, the working time, salt bath temperature, and salt concentration were combined as three conditions and placed in the $L_9(3^4)$, orthogonal array table. The thicknesses of the white layer and the nitrogen diffusion layer were measured after nitriding under each condition in a salt bath furnace. Durability was evaluated by measuring the degree of dispersion through actual shooting because it was difficult to evaluate the mechanical properties of the cylinder inner structure. As a result, it was confirmed that the durability was optimal at $565^{\circ}C$, 1 hour, 0.5%. These optimal conditions were selected by the statistical analysis of the Minitab program(ver.17).

  • Purpose: This study is a comparison of spatiotemporal parameters between straight and curved walking in individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke, investigating whether those patients can adapt their walking according to task demands and environmental changes. Methods: Twenty-eight patients who diagnosed with their first stroke at least six months prior to this study were recruited. They were measured for spatiotemporal parameters in three different walking conditions: straight walking, walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg, and walking with an inner curve to the less-affected leg. This study also measured secondary clinical factors, such as the timed up-and-go test, the trunk impairment scale, and the dynamic gait index. The statistical methods for the three different walking conditions, using the averaged value of each condition, was repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The difference in cadence was statistically significant when comparing straight walking, walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg, and walking with an inner curve to the less-affected leg. Swing duration (%) was also a statistically significant difference between straight walking and walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg. However, differences in other spatiotemporal parameters were not statistically significant among the three conditions. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that stroke survivors could adapt their walking according to straight and curved walking conditions, although cadence and swing duration were different between straight and curved walking groups.

  • Based on theories and case analysis, the present research concerns the deduction of useful results about the basic stage for setting up a planar plan for children's play therapy facility, which cures children's psychological problems such as social maladaptation by means of play rather than language. The case analysis was sub-categorized into movement in each area, relative position among areas, and the size of each room. Detailed investigations were made concerning: First, Adjacent areas of each area. Second, Movement plan, which was sub-categorized into the movement of therapists and that of the children receiving therapy and guardians; area was sub-categorized into management area, therapy area and service area. Third, the size of each area measured was calculated to be expressed as the percentage of the total size. The result is as follows: (1) As for adjacent areas, in some cases management area and service area were adjacent, with isolated therapy area; whereas in the other cases, service area and information area, which is a part of management area, were placed along the doorway, with therapy area between them and therapist area, which is the other part of management area, behind them. (2) As for movement, the movement of therapists and that of children receiving therapy were same; whereas the movement of guardians was allowed only up to the middle part of the therapy facilities, and there was almost no entry of guardians into the play therapy rooms located in the inner parts. This is because they do not show the details of their therapy for children to guardians. (3) As for size, the area of independent facilities were similar; whereas institutional facilities in general had larger waiting room and unlike independent facilities, were of diverse size.

  • Thermophoresis in dense gases is studied by using a multi-scale approach and Born- YvonGreen (BYG) equation. The problem of a particle movement in an ambient dense gas under temperature gradient is divided into inter and outer ones. The pressure gradient in the inner region is obtained from the solutions of BYG equation. The velocity profile is derived from the conservation equations and calculated using the pressure gradient, which provides the particle velocity in the outer problem. It is shown that the temperature gradient applied to the quiescent ambient gas induces some pressure gradient and thus flow tangential to the particle surface in the interfacial region. The mechanism that induces the flow may be the dominant source of the thermophretic particle movement in dense gases. It is also shown that the particle velocity has a nonlinear relationship with the applied temperature gradient and decreases with increasing temperature.
