A knowloedge of the residual stress distribution at circumferential welds can increase the prediction accuracy of a fracture assessment in pipe lines. In this study, in order to predict the residual stress distribution in the circumferential butt-welded pipes were measured, using the hole-drilling strain gauge method. Their practical applications were performed in to two kinds of pipes. As the results, the following characteristics were found. On the inner surface of pipes, the circumferential and axial residual stresses were both tensile near the center line of welding and both of them changed from tensile to compressive as the distance from the center line increased. On the outer surface, however, the circumferential residual stress was shown to be tensile wile the axial residual stress was compressive near the center line of welding, and later they were revered at the region far away from the centerline.

The drum-type hill-drop unit, an important working device of the plastic -film-covered hill planter, can finish filling and separating seed precisely, perforating film and holing , and its seeding depth and spacing are stability . The unit is applied to hole seed many crops, for example, cotton, corn , soybean, etc. The drum-type hill-drop unit(DHU) , the key work unit to the plastic film-covered planter, mainly consists of distributor box , seeding parts, hole forming unit and drum , It can be operated to accomplish seeds distributing, hole forming , plastic film perforating . Moreover , its inner cavity can be used as seed box.
In this study attempted to prevent defects due to blow holes among defects of sand casting products. It was intended to reduce the defect rate by reducing the blow hole of the inner surface. Currently, expectations and requirements for the quality level of non-ferrous aluminum casting in the casting industry are increasing. In addition, the shape is complex and the shrinkage precision is required. Among them, the test prototype is expensive to manufacture the mold, and the production time is also long, and the product is manufactured by sand casting. At this time, the highest defect rates are defects caused by shrinkage defects, surface defects, and blow holes.. At this study, the manufacturing time was shortened by using the shape of the fluid movement path in advance. Also, it is possible to reduce defects due to blow holes.
Experimental studies were carried out with test parameters: diaphragm yield type and beam yield type, the opening hole size of inner steel diaphragm, and the existence of slab in order to understand the behavior of beam-to-concrete filled steel tube column rigid connections under cyclic loading condition. Test results show that the connections have good rotational capacity when the beam yields first and the joints should be designed such that the beam yields prior to the inner diaphragms.

For the analysis of natural vibrations of a rectangular stiffened plate with inner cutouts, an application of the Rayleigh-Ritz method is investigated. In construction of the trial function for the Rayleigh quotient, only the outer boundary conditions are satisfied with combination of Euler beam functions. As to the modeling of stiffened plates for the energy calculations, a lumping stiffener-effects method and the orthotropic plate analogy are considered for the purpose of comparison. Some numerical results obtained by the Rayleigh-Ritz method are compared with results by experiments and the finite element method. The following are major conclusions; (1) With the lumping stiffener-effects modeling the Rayleigh-Ritz method gives good results of both natural frequencies and mode shapes. The orthotropic plate analogy in cases of regularly stiffened plates is of restrictive use i.e. acceptable for a small cutout. (2) The natural frequency of a stiffened plate with inner cutouts between stiffeners is higher than that of without cutouts and increase as the hole area ratio increases as long as there are no discontinuous stiffeners due to the cutout.

The Fuel Test Loop (FTL) consists of In-Pile Test Section (IPS) and Out-of-Pile System (OPS). The test condition in IPS such as pressure, temperature and quality of the main cooling water, can be controlled by the OPS. The FTL has been developed to be able to irradiate three pins to the core irradiation hole (IR1 hole) by considering for its utility and user's irradiation requirement. The IPS vessel assembly (IVA) consists of IPS head, outer pressure vessel, inner pressure vessel, inner assembly and test fuel carrier. The IVA is approximately 5.6 m long and fits within a 74 mm in diameter envelope over the full height of the chimney. Above the top of the chimney, the head of the IPS is enlarged to allow the closure flanges and pipe work connections. IVA was designed to test the CANDU and PWR nuclear fuel pin together. Specially, wished to minimize interference by nuclear fuel change in design and synthesize these items and shape design for IVA.

Using a line scan camera and a Galvano mirror, we constructed a high-speed line-scanning microscope that can generate 2D images ($8000{\times}8000pixels$) without any moving parts. The line scanner consists of a Galvano mirror and a cylindrical lens, which creates a line focus that sweeps over the sample. The measured resolutions in the x (perpendicular to line focus) and y (parallel to line focus) directions are both $2{\mu}m$, with a 2X scan lens and a 3X relay lens. This optical system is useful for measuring defects, such as spalling, chipping, delamination, etc., on the surface of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) holes after machining in conjunction with adjustments in the angle of LED lighting. Defects on the inner wall of holes are measured by line confocal laser scanning. This confocal method will be useful for analyzing defects after CFRP machining and for fast 3D image reconstruction.
We used holes defined by color similarity (Experiment 1) and binocular disparity (Experiment 2) to study how the inner contour of an object (i.e., boundary of a hole in it) is encoded in visual working memory. Many studies in VWM have shown that an object's boundary properties can be integrated with its surface properties via their shared spatial location, yielding an object-based encoding benefit. However, encoding of the hole contours has rarely been tested. We presented objects (squares or circles) containing a bar under a change detection paradigm, and relevant features to be remembered were the color of objects and the orientation of bars (or holes). If the contour of a hole belongs to the surrounding object rather than to the hole itself, the object-based feature binding hypothesis predicts that the shape of it can be integrated with color of an outer object, via their shared spatial location. Thus, in the hole display, change detection performance was expected to better than in the conjunction display where orientation and color features to be remembered were assigned to different parts of a conjunction object, and comparable to that in a single bar display where both orientation and color were assigned into a single bar. However, the results revealed that performance in the hole display did not differ from that in the conjunction display. This suggests that the shape of holes is not automatically encoded together with the surface properties of the outer object via object-based feature binding, but encoded independently from the surrounding object.
An experimental study was carried out to study the solid-liquid mixture upward flow in a vertical and inclined annulus with rotating inner cylinder. Lift forces acting on a fluidized particle plays a central role in many importance applications, such as the removal of drill cuttings in horizontal drill holes, sand transport in fractured reservoirs, sediment transport and cleaning of particles from surfaces, etc. Field measurements have revealed that the pressure drop over a borehole during drilling of a slim oil well or a well with a long reach can depend significantly on the rotation speed of the drill pipe. An accurate prediction of the annular frictional pressure drop is therefore important for conditions where the annular clearance is small. Effect of annulus inclination and drill pipe rotation on the carrying capacity of drilling fluid, particle rising velocity, and pressure drop in the slim hole annulus have been measured for fully developed flows of water and of aqueous solutions.
An explosion modeling technique was developed by using the spherical discrete element code, PFC3D, which can be used to model the dynamic stress wave propagation phenomenon. The modeling technique is simply based on an idea that the explosion pressure should be applied to a PFC3D particle assembly not in the form of an external force (body force), but in the form of a contact force (surface force). According to this concept, the explosion pressure is applied to the wall particles by the scheme of radius expansion/contraction of inner-hole particles. The output wall force is compared to the input hole pressure in every time step, and a correction routine is activated to control the radius multiplier of the inner-hole particles. A comparative blast simulation far a cement mortar block of $80\times90\times80mm$ was conducted by using the conventional explosion modeling method and the new one. The results of the simulation are presented in a qualitative fashion.
