  • Injection molding is used in many industrial fields such as home appliances, vehicle parts, and electronic device parts because various resins can be molded, leading to mass production of complex shapes. Generally, the empirical prediction method is used to set the initial processing conditions of injection molding. However, this approach requires a lot of cost and its presented solution is not accurate. In this paper, injection molding was simulated through the MoldflowTM in order to manufacture the spacer for gas insulated switch. Through the simulation, the flow of the resin with respect to the diameter of the inlet was analyzed. It was found that the process was possible at a higher resin temperature as the diameter of the inlet increased. In addition, through thermal analysis during injection of the resin, it was confirmed that a stagnation phenomenon occurred at the insert portion during injection molding, and the temperature of the resin was higher than that of the mold. As in this paper, if the spacer is manufactured by optimizing the injection hole and the temperature of the injection process based on simulation, it is expected that the spacer can be manufactured with high productivity.

  • Recently, micro-nano system is fabricated by photolithograph method. This method can not have mass production, so this method wastes time and human effort. accordingly, the aim of this paper is to research on injection molding of micro-nano system. For injection molding process, development of micro-nano mold is required. Mold for injection mold process is maintained its shape in high pressure and temperature. So in this paper, we studied the simulation of mold fur injection molding and then we consider a result of injection molding simulation.

  • This study has focused on manufacturing technique of powder injection molding of watch case which made from zirconia powder. A series of computer simulation process was applied to prediction of the flow pattern in the inside of the mould and defects as weld line. The material properties of melted feedstock inclusive of the PVT graph and thermal viscosity flowage properties were measured for obtaining the input data in computer simulation. Also, molding experiment was conducted and the results of experiment showed that good agreement with simulation results far flow pattern and weld line location. On the other hand, gravity and inertia effect have an influence on velocity of melt front because of high density of ceramic powder particles in powder injection molding against the polymer injection molding process. In the experiment, the position of melt front was compared with upper gate and lower gate position. The gravity and inertia effect could be confirmed in the experimental results.

  • Gas-Assisted Injection Molding(GAIM) process, that can be used to provide a hollow shape in a molding, is a variant of the conventional injection molding process. GAIM has many advantages such as reduction of material, sink mark. warpage. and lower injection pressure. Thus, GAIM has been widely applied in the industry to make moldings with a hollow channel such as handles, TV frames and so on. On the other hand, GAIM has some disadvantages such as slow cooling time and flow marks. In the disadvantages, hot gas core causes slow cooling of a molding and the overflow. which is to prevent flow mark. is waste of materials. To solve these problems, we developed a new GAIM system that we called RGIM(Reverse Gas Injection Molding). The RGIM has two special units; one is the overflow buffer, which is used for reduction of a material, and the other tile air unit, which is used for faster cooling of a molding. We conducted an experiment and simulation to verify the efficiency of the RGIM system. Through experiments and simulation, we confirmed the effectively operating of the RGIM system and extracted the optimum process conditions.

  • Injection molding simulation provided optimized design results by analyzing quality problems while the product is in assembly or in the process of manufacturing with make automobile plastics. Frequent change of design, change of injection molding, repetition of test injection which was held in the old way can now be stopped. And quality upgrade is expected instead. This report deals with the effect which the position of injection molding automobile console gate and number has on product quality including pressure at end of fill, bulk temperature at end of fill, shear stress of end of fill, residual stress at post filling end, product weld lines and warpage results. Simpoe-Mold simulates the complete manufacturing process of plastic injected parts, from filling to warpage. Simpoe-Mold users, whether they are product designers, mold makers or part manufacturers, can identify early into the design stage potential manufacturing problems, study alternative solutions and directly assess the impact of such part modification, whatever the complexity and geometry of such parts, shell part as plain solid parts.

플라스틱 미세구조 성형 해석기술 리뷰 (A Review of Numerical Simulation Methods for Molding Processes of Plastic Microstructures)

  • Molding technologies for plastic microstructures have been extensively investigated during the last two decades, and theoretical and numerical studies on the micro molding process have provided efficient tools for the development of such molding technologies. In this paper, we present a review of numerical simulation methods for the micro molding process. Basic models for a description of the material property, governing equations of the flow and heat transfer during the molding process, and numerical methods will be described. Particularly, numerical simulations for micro injection molding and hot embossing processes will be presented, and their main features noted and compared to those for conventional molding processes.

박판 사출 성형에서 게이트 폭에 따른 충전 불균형에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Filling Pattern Imbalance by Width of Gate in the Thin Plate Injection Molding)

  • Recently, the injection-molded products are lighter, and thinner than ever. In this work, Injection molding simulation was conducted to analysis the filling pattern imbalance in high speed injection molding process for thin-wall injection component, 8 inches LGP. Numerical analysis shows that shear heated polymer near the side wall causes filling imbalance between center and side of cavity. Short shot experiments were conducted and compared with simulation results. Filling imbalance ratio showed a tendency to increase for wider fan gate.

  • The rapid thermal response(RTR) molding is a novel process developed to raise the temperature of mold surface rapidly in the injection stage and then cool rapidly to the ejection temperature by air or water. The objectives of this paper are to investigate the effect of mold temperature, pressure and thickness of micro pattern molding and to provide a optimization of RTR injection molding for micro pattern from Moldflow simulation. Optimal minimum temperature and pressure was found without shortcut according to thickness. Filling percentage was influenced by glass transition temperature with the kinds of resin. Optimal temperature is slightly higher than glass transition temperature irrespectively of pressure, thickness, the kinds of resin in the micro pattern molding.

초정밀 광학렌즈의 복굴절 예측과 금형 전사성 (Verification for transcription of spherical radius and prediction of birefringence in injection molding optical lens)

  • This paper has been focused in developing of plastic lens with ultra-precision and low birefringence ability using by injection molding simulation tools. The simulation tools, $3D-Timon^{TM}\;and\;Asu-Mold^{TM}$ were applied to visualize indirectly the flow pattern of melted polymer enter the mould and the simulation results are verified as compared with the experimental results. Birefringence and polarized light generated in injection molding process was also calculated for each injection conditions and compared with .the pictures of experimented optical lens go through the polarized light plates device. A spherical radius of plastic optical lens transcribed from profile of mould core surface was measured to estimate the geometrical accuracy fer the each injection conditions. It is confirmed that the simulation results about flow pattern and polarized light area coincided in experimental results. It is known that increasing in thickness shrinkage at center of lens, the spherical radius is larger from comparing the graph measured spherical radius and the thickness shrinkage at center of lens
