A Fast Response Smectic LCD using Induced Polarization

  • In this paper, a general performance of the PSS-LCD or Polarization Shielded Smectic Liquid Crystal Display is discussed. This smectic base LCD does not use any spontaneous polarization, but uses induced polarization just sa me with current nematic base LCDs. Specific initial molecular alignment as well as specific cell design realizes ext remely fast optical response speed with native wide viewing angle. Moreover, this performance is provided by full compatible electronics for current conventional LCDs. A general performance of the PSS-LCD is introduced herein.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel electrode structure for superb transmittance in super in-plane switching (S-IPS) mode while keeping the features of the conventional SIPS mode such as the capability of initial LC alignment. The optimization of the electrode made it possible to enhance the light transmittance approximately by 14 % in comparison to the conventional S-IPS cell.

  • 본 논문에서는 자세결정 GPS 수신기에서 출력되는 자세정보와 영속도 정보를 이용하여 SDINS의 새로운 초기정렬 알고리즘을 제안하였다. GPS 수신기의 자세정보와 영속도 정보를 이응하기 위해 새롭게 측정모델을 도출하였으며 가관측성을 조사하여 피치각이 90도가 아닌 경우에 시스템이 완전가관측함을 보였다. Monte-Carlo 시뮬레이션을 통하여 SDINS 오차가 빠르게 영으로 수렴함을 보였다.

  • A technique based on bispectrum averaging is described for generally recovering the signal waveform from a set of noisy signals with variable signal delay. The technique does not require explicit time alignment of signals and initial estimate of sigals and initial etimate of signal. The new method is suggested and is compared with other methods. This method are numerically investigated using computer generated-data and a phtsiological signal and noise. Some expermeental results for the evoked potential studies that demonstrate the technique are given. The results show the effectiveness of the technique : various potential applictions of the techique might be expected.

e-Learning 프로그램 교수설계요인이 학습전이 및 만족도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the e-Learning Instructional Design on Perceived Learning Transfer and Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 일개 대학에서 e-Learning 수업을 듣고 있는 간호학과 학생 239명을 대상으로 학습전이 인식수준과 만족도에 영향을 미치는 e-Learning 교수설계 변인을 밝히고자 시행된 서술적 조사연구이다. 그 결과, 대상자의 학습전이 인식수준에 영향을 미치는 도입의 하부영역은 학습상황 및 방향제시, 학습자 초기 동기화로 나타났으며, 이는 41%의 설명력이 있었다(F=81.16, p<.001). 대상자의 학습전이 인식수준에 영향을 미치는 학습객체의 하부영역은 동기화, 학습목적 일치, 접근성, 피드백 및 적합으로 나타났으며, 이는 46%의 설명력이 있었다(F=50.69, p<.001). 대상자의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 도입의 하부영역은 학습상황 및 방향제시, 학습자 초기 동기화로 나타났으며, 이는 33%의 설명력이 있었다(F=59.32, p<.001). 대상자의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 학습객체의 하부영역은 동기화, 표현설계, 상호작용 유용성, 피드백 및 적합, 학습목적 일치, 콘텐츠 품질로 나타났으며, 이는 52%의 설명력이 있었다(F=43.93, p<.001). 이를 통해 대학 e-Learning 프로그램의 교수설계 요인이 학습자의 학습전이와 만족도에 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 e-Learning 프로그램 교수설계 전략을 개발하기 위한 기초자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 기술논문에서는 고기동 고정밀 위성의 별 추적기 초기 점검 원격측정 데이터가 분석되었다. 최근에 발사된 위성은 고기동 고정밀 위성이므로 고도의 요구조건을 만족하기 위해 광학계, 전자부, 배플이 분리된 형태로 광학계 부분의 온도를 20 degC 근처로 유지하면서 저주파 오차 성능을 향상 시킨 프랑스 SODERN사의 SED36을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 위성으로부터 내려 받은 원격측정 데이터의 처리를 통해 초기 점검 상태, 요구 조건 만족 여부, 이상 현상 및 주요 임무 기동에서의 별 추적기 잡음각 성능 분석 결과를 제시하였다.

  • 직경과 초점거리가 수 mm인 카메라폰 렌즈의 성능을 평가하는 변조전달함수(Modulation Transfer Function: MTF) 측정장치를 개발 하였다. 전체 측정장치는 물체부, 상분석부, 렌즈 마운터로 구성되며, 물체부는 비축상 측정을 위하여 회전한다. 렌즈의 정밀한 정렬을 위하여 정밀한 수평형 거치대를 제작하였으며 광축 조정과 렌즈의 기울어짐 등의 문제를 매우 효과적으로 개선하였다. 시험렌즈의 초기정렬이 끝나면 자동으로 MTF를 측정하며 측정시간은 10초 이내이다.

  • Among the changes of the management environments surrounding enterprises, one of the most important reasons that affect the organization management in the future would be the rapid development in the field of information technology(IT). And every company takes the speed to be important to maintain the competitive superiority of its own especially. To meet this kind of circumstances, the expectations to reorganize the business processes using the IT become higher. The IT is worth when the companies manifest their own potential powers by taking advantage of the it and when they evolve and apply the novel ways to the business as well. Even though they, therefore, introduce the information system to realize their strategic superiorities, it is difficult to achieve their initial aims. Moreover, in the phase of IT introduction, it is necessary to include the property of alignment between the IT and the conventional management fields containing the management strategy and the organization planning. In the case the company revolution by IT is carried out, the two facts we should note to maintain the alignment between the management strategy and the target of organization are as follows. First. it is required to share the common and underlying recognition on the IT between the chief executive officers(CEOs) and the system part. Second. it is important to exchange information with other companies by utilizing the IT.

Feasibility study on using crowdsourced smartphones to estimate buildings' natural frequencies during earthquakes

  • After an earthquake, information regarding potential damage to buildings close to the epicenter is very important during the initial emergency response. This study proposes the use of crowdsourced measured acceleration response data collected from smartphones located within buildings to perform system identification of building structures during earthquake excitations, and the feasibility of the proposed approach is studied. The principal advantage of using crowdsourced smartphone data is the potential to determine the condition of millions of buildings without incurring hardware, installation, and long-term maintenance costs. This study's goal is to assess the feasibility of identifying the lowest fundamental natural frequencies of buildings without knowing the orientations and precise locations of the crowds' smartphones in advance. Both input-output and output-only identification methods are used to identify the lowest fundamental natural frequencies of numerical finite element models of a real building structure. The effects of time synchronization and the orientation alignment between nearby smartphones on the identification results are discussed, and the proposed approach's performance is verified using large-scale shake table tests of a scaled steel building. The presented results illustrate the potential of using crowdsourced smartphone data with the proposed approach to identify the lowest fundamental natural frequencies of building structures, information that should be valuable in making emergency response decisions.
