The conversion of an invisible thermal radiation pattern of an object into a visible image using infrared (IR) thermal technology is very useful to understand phenomena what we are interested in. Although IR thermal images were originally developed for military and space applications, they are currently employed to determine thermal properties and heat features in various applications, such as the non-destructive evaluation of industrial equipment, power plants, electricity, military or drive-assisted night vision, and medical applications to monitor heat generation or loss. Recently, IR imaging-based monitoring systems have been considered for application in agricultural, including crop care, plant-disease detection, bruise detection of fruits, and the evaluation of fruit maturity. This paper reviews recent progress in the development of IR thermal imaging techniques and suggests possible applications of thermal imaging techniques in agriculture.

Thermal imaging is mainly used in military equipment required for night observation. In particular, technologies of uncooled thermal imaging detectors are being developed as applied to low-cost night observation system. Many system integrators require different specifications of the uncooled thermal imaging camera but their development time is short. In this approach, EOSYSTEM has developed a small size, TEC-less uncooled thermal imaging camera module with $32{\times}32mm$ size and low power consumption. Both domestic detector and import detector are applied to the EOSYSTEM's thermal imaging camera module. The camera module contains efficient infrared image processing algorithms including : Temperature compensation non-uniformity correction, Bad/Dead pixel replacement, Column noise removal, Contrast/Edge enhancement algorithms providing stable and low residual non-uniformity infrared image.

In this paper, a method is tested to measure temperatures in high-temperature welds. Protective glass was installed between an infrared thermal imaging camera and a heat source, and temperature compensation was applied to the measuring instruments. When the temperature of halogen lamps was taken in real-time and measured by the thermal camera, the temperature was found to be almost invariant with the distance between the camera and heat source. The temperature range could be predicted, through correlations with the thickness of the protective glass and the measured distance. This study suggests that the temperature measurement of welds obtained by using an infrared thermal imaging camera is valid, through experimental testing of heat sources.

The paper proposes a hierarchical fault detection method for the high voltage equipment using a microphone array which detects the location of fault and the thermal imaging and CCD cameras which verifies the fault and stores the image, respectively. There are partial arc discharges on the faulty insulators, which generates a specific pattern of sound. Detecting the signal using the microphone array, the location of the faulty insulator can be estimated. The 6th band-pass filter was applied to remove noise signal from wind or external influence. When the mobile robot carries the thermal and CCD cameras to the possible place of the fault insulator, the fault insulators or power transmission wires can be detected by the thermal images, which are caused by the aging or natural erosion. Finally, the CCD camera captures the image of the fault insulator for the record. The detection scheme of fault location using the microphone array and the thermal images have been proved to be effective through the real experiments. As a result of this research, it becomes possible to use a mobile robot with the integrated sensors to detect the fault insulators instead of a human being.
With the rapid development of the national industry, the importance of electrical safety was recognized because of a lot of new electrical equipment are installing and the electrical accidents have been occurring annually. Today, the electrical equipments is inspect by using the portable Infrared thermal imaging camera. but the most negative element of using the camera is inspected for only state of heating, the reliable diagnosis is depended with inspector's knowledge, and real-time monitoring is impossible. This paper present the infrared thermal imaging safety diagnosis system. This system is able to monitor in real time, predict the state of fault, and diagnose the state with analysis of thermal and power data. The system consists of a main processor, an infrared camera module, the power data acquisition board, and a server. The diagnostic algorithm is based on a mathematical model designed by analyzing the Pearson's Correlation Coefficient between temperature and power data. To test the prediction algorithm, the simulations were performed by damaging the terminals or cables on the switchboard to generate a large amount of heat. Utilizing these simulations, the developed prediction algorithm was verified.

The global battery market is rapidly growing due to the development of vehicles(EV) and wireless electronic products. In particular logistics robots, which hielp to produce EVs, have attracted much interest in research in Korea Because logistics sites and factories operate continuously for 24 hours, the technology that can dramatically increase the operation time of the logistics equipment is rapidly developing, and various high-level technologies are required for the batteries used in. for example, logistics robots. These required technologies include those that enable rapid battery charging as well wireless charging to charge batteries while moving. The development of these technologies, however, result in increasing explosions and topical accidents involving rapid charging batteries These accidents due to the thermal shock caused by the heat generated during the charging of the battery cell. In this study, a performance evaluation of a heat dissipation design using infrared thermal imaging was performed on an energy storage systrm(Ess) applied with an internal heat conduction cooling method using a heating plate.

Objective : This study aims to visualize the subjective symptoms before and after the treatment of whiplash injury using infrared (IR) thermography. Methods : IR thermography was performed for 42 patients who were diagnosed with whiplash injury. There were 19 male and 23 female patients. The mean age was 43.12 years. Thermal differences (${\Delta}T$) in the neck and shoulder and changes in the thermal differences (${\Delta}dT$) before and after treatment were analyzed. Pain after injury was evaluated using visual analogue scale (VAS) before and after treatment (${\Delta}VAS$). The correlations between ${\Delta}dT$ and ${\Delta}VAS$ results before and after the treatment were examined. We used Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging equipment of Dorex company for IR thermography. Results : The skin temperature of the neck and shoulder immediately after injury showed $1-2^{\circ}C$ hyperthermia than normal. After two weeks, the skin temperature was normal range. ${\Delta}T$ after immediately injuy was higher than normal value, but it was gradually near the normal value after two weeks. ${\Delta}dT$ before and after treatment were statistically significant (p<0.05). VAS of the neck and shoulder significantly reduced after 2 week (p=0.001). Also, there was significant correlation between ${\Delta}dT$ and reduced ${\Delta}VAS$ (the neck; r=0.412, p<0.007) (the shoulder; r=0.648, p<0.000). Conclusion : The skin temperature of sites with whiplash injury is immediately hyperthermia and gradually decreased after two weeks, finally it got close to normal temperature. These were highly correlated with reduced VAS. IR thermography can be a reliable tool to visualize the symptoms of whiplash injury and the effectiveness of treatment in clinical settings.

The purpose of the thermal imaging observation device mounted on the K's tank in the Republic of Korea military is to convert infrared rays into visual information to provide information about the environment under conditions of restricted visibility. Among the various performance indicators of thermal observation devices, such as the view, magnification, resolution, MTF, NETD, and Minimum Resolvable Temperature Difference (MRTD), the MRTD is the most important, because it can indicate both the spatial frequency and temperature resolvable. However, the standard method of measuring the MRTD in NATO contains many subjective factors. As the measurement result can vary depending on subjective factors such as the human eye, metal condition and measurement conditions, the MRTD obtained is not stable. In this study, these qualitative MRTD measurement systems are converted into quantitative indicators based on a gray scale using imaging processing. By converting the average of the gray scale differences of the black and white images into the MRTD, the mean values can be used to determine whether the performance requirements required by the defense specification are met. The (mean) value can also be used to discriminate between detection, recognition and identification and the detectable distance of the thermal equipment can be analyzed under various environmental conditions, such as altostratus, heavy rain and fog.
This thesis deals with a wavelet-based method of denoising of infrared images contaminated with impulse noise and Gaussian noise, he method of thresholding the wavelet coefficients using derivatives and median absolute deviations of the wavelet coefficients of the detail subbands was proposed to effectively denoise infrared images with noises. Particularly, in order to eliminate the impulse noise the method of generating binary masks indicating locations of the impulse noise was selected. By this method, the threshold values dividing edges and noises were obtained more effectively proving the validity of the denoising method compared with the conventional wavelet shrinkage method.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of active vibration exercise of upper limb on physical capacity index (endurance, grip strength, balance, and flexibility) and vasomotor index (capillary length and body surface temperature) in middle aged women. 20 participants randomly divided into two groups: vibro-swing exercise (VSE) and non vibro-swing exercise (NVSE). Subjects in each group measured the 30 second arm curl test, hand dynamometer, one leg standing test, back scratch test, nail fold capillary microscope (NFM), and digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI) before and after exercise. The results showed that active vibration exercise of upper limb with vibro-swing equipment increased the endurance, balance ability, and the capillary length. In addition, changes in body temperature immediately after exercise were predicted to affect vasomotor. Active vibration exercise of upper limb has the advantage of being able to exercise anywhere regardless of the location by inducing different frequency changes in movement of various ranges and velocity. For this reason, the combination of vibration and active movement can be expected the physiological effects when producing exercise programs for middle aged women.
