A Study on the Infra-Capacity Analysis for Optimal Operating Environments of Supercomputer Center (슈퍼컴퓨터센터의 최적 운영환경을 위한 기반시설 용량 산정에 관한 연구)

  • According to the increasing demands of supercomputer, an exclusive supercomputer building is requested to install a supercomputer for promoting high-end R&D as well as creating the public service infrastructure in the national level. KISTI, as a public supercomputer center with the 4th supercomputer (capacity of 360Tflops), is experiencing shortage of infrastructure systems, caused by increased capacity. Thus, it is anticipated that the situation will be growing serious when the 5th and 6th supercomputers will be installed. On this study, analyzed on the 5th supercomputer system through projecting performance level and optimal operating environments by assessing infra-capacity. Explored way to construct optimal operating environments through infrastructure-capacity analysis of supercomputer center. This study can be of use for reviewing KISTI's conditions as the only supercomputer center in Korea. In addition, it provides reference data for planning the new exclusive supercomputer center in terms of feasibility, while analyzing infrastructure systems.

  • This is a research of an adaptive longitudinal control system for situated cognition in wide range, traffic accidents reduction and safety driving environment by integrated system which graft a road infrastructure's information based on IT onto the intelligent vehicle combined automobile and IT technology. The road infrastructure installed by laser scanner in intersection, speed limited area and sharp curve area where is many risk of traffic accident. The road infra conducts objects recognition, segmentation, and tracking for determining dangerous situation and communicates real-time information by Ethernet with vehicle. Also, the data which transmitted from infrastructure supports safety driving by integrated with laser scanner's data on vehicle bumper.

  • Because of lack of accurate understanding of the mechanism of urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon and lack of scientific discussion, it is hard to come up with effective measures to mitigate UHI phenomenon. This study systematically described the UHI and suggested the solutions using green-infrastructure (green-infra). The factors that control UHI are very diverse: radiant heat flux, latent heat flux, storage heat flux, and artificial heat flux, and the air temperature is formed by the combination effect of radiation, conduction and convection. Green-infra strategies can improve thermal environment by reducing radiant heat flux (the albedo effect, the shade effect), increasing latent heat flux (the evapotranspiration effect), and creating a wind path (cooling air flow). As a result of measurement, green-infra could reduce radiant heat flux as $270W/m^2$ due to shadow effect and produce $170W/m^2$ latent heat flux due to evaporation. Finally, green-infra can be applied differently on the macro(urban) scale and micro scale, therefore, we should plan and design green-infra after the target objects of structures are set.

  • Virus protection infrastructure managementis network infrastructure management, traffic route management, virus protection zone expansion, and virus protection management for gateway area. This research paper provides a diagnosis of characteristics and weaknesses of the structure of existing virus protection infrastructure, and recommends an improved multi-level virus protection infrastructure as a measure for correcting these weaknesses. Improved virus protection infrastructure filters unnecessary mail at the gateway stage to reduce the load on server. As a result, numberof transmission accumulation decreases due to the reduction in the CPU load on the Virus wall and increase in virus treatment rate.

Location Tracking of Drifting Container by Solitary Wave Load Using a Motion Analysis Program

  • Objects adrift can cause considerable damage to coastal infrastructure and property during tsunami and storm surge events. Despite the potential for harm, the drifting behavior of these objects remains poorly understood, thereby hindering effective prediction and mitigation of collision damage. To address this gap, this study employed a motion analysis program to track a drifting container's location using images from an existing laboratory experiment. The container's trajectory and velocity were calculated based on the positions of five markers strategically placed at its four corners and center. Our findings indicate that the container's maximum drift velocity and distance are directly influenced by the scale of the solitary wave and inversely related to the container's weight. Specifically, heavier containers are less likely to be displaced by solitary waves, while larger waves can damage coastal structures more. This study offers new insights into container drift behavior induced by solitary waves, with implications for enhancing coastal infrastructure design and devising mitigation strategies to minimize the risk of collision damage.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the various EV charging-infra information(charging status, charging pattern, charging rate, charging fee, etc.) through the charging infra simulator which would be of help to effectively construct the EV charging infrastructure. The proposed simulator virtually made the EV motoring pattern referred to TMS(Traffic Monitoring System) & Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, and analyzed the charging-infra information(amount of charging, accumulated charging fee, etc.) based on vehicle types, charging type, time and days using EV charging-fee list noticed by KEPCO. Through this simulator, we deducted some considerable contents to build the EV charging infrastructure similarly with real environment.

  • Virus protection infrastructure management is network infrastructure management, traffic route management, virus protection zone expansion, and virus protection management for gateway area.   • In this paper, we described configuration and construction of infrastructure for the KASS Reference Station (KRS), subsystem of Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS). KASS system consists of three subsystems(KRS, Mission Control Center (MCC), KASS Uplink Station (KUS)). One of these subsystems, KRS receives GNSS data for generating range error and integrity verification and sends to MCC. It is needed to antenna facilities for mounting GNSS antenna and shelter for operating KRS and infra equipment(power and network system, lightning and grounding system, fire extinguish) for operating KRS. For this reason, we have established the requirements for KRS infrastructure and constructed infrastructure for KRS to meet the requirements of KRS infrastructure.

A Study on Vertical Separation Regarding Paperless Trade Infrastructure (전자무역기반시설의 구조 분리에 관한 연구)

  • Recently regarding the ownership and proper operational forms of paperless trade infrastructure has become an issue. In this research the structural separation approach, different from the behavioral regulation approach, has been adopted. Following the structural separation, the core e-trade infrastructure which is separated from a vertically integrated provider, can be operated by three different forms such as a private sector; a public sector; finally a consortium among participants. As another option, the separated whole infrastructure including both core and non-core can be operated by a independent private entity. However, this option is not interesting case to us. As the last option, it can be considered that a new wholesale independent company for the separated core-infra can be set up for running. Additionally, three other alternative ways such as accounting separation, division separation, or corporation separation with keeping same ownership are also demonstrated. However the cautious investigation on cost and benefits of vertical separation are strongly recommended by OECD and agrees with the conclusion of this study.
