  • The paper empirically examines relationships among information infrastructure, competitive advantage of information technology, and corporate performance of small and medium manufacturing firms. Effects of competitive advantage of information technology on the linkage between information infrastructure and corporate performance are investigated. The fact that SME's (Small and Mediem-sized Enterprises) are having difficulties in building their own information infrastructure due to the limitation of capital investment, technology, and manpower is the main motive for the study. Research results confirm that information technology provides several traits of strategic advantages such as efficiency, threat, functionality, preemptiveness, and synergy and significantly contributes to corporate performance. But linkage between information infrastructure and competitive advantage of information technology is proved to be weak and this result suggests that systematic and effective information strategy or planning is required to deliver expected advantages of information technology from information infrastructure investments. Also control effect of competitive advantage of information technology on information infrastructure-corporate performance linkage is not strongly recognized.

  • Nowadays, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are placed among the key components of the economy in both developed and developing countries. They are internationally known as the driving force based on their enormous contributions to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating new employment. They are generally presumed as the leader of environmental sustainability, economic prosperity, and innovation, particularly for the economy of developing countries such as Vietnam. However, SMEs have difficulty in raising capital, as well as access to credit. One of the reasons is that there are inadequacies in accounting information quality in SMEs as well as the provision of accounting information and accounting information confidentiality. The main objective of this study was to identify, evaluate, and measure the attributes of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi. The study was based on a field survey using a semi-structured questionnaire on a sample of 150 accountants. The study has identified and measured six (6) attributes of accounting information quality of SMEs that have great effects on accountants. There is, statistically, no significant difference in the level of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi from these different business areas. There is no, statistically, significant difference in the level of accounting information quality of SMEs in Hanoi between the mentioned three groups of the job description. Based on the findings, some recommendations are given for SMEs to improve accounting information quality.

  • Information Technology (IT) plays an increasingly important role for small and medium-sized enterprises. It has become fundamental for these companies to protect information and IT assets in relation to risks and threats that have grown in recent years. This study aims to understand the importance and structure of an information security policy, using a quantitative study that intends to identify the most important and least relevant elements of an information security policy document. The findings of this study reveal that the top three most important elements in the structure of a security policy are the asset management, security risk management and define the scope of the policy. On the other side, the three least relevant elements include the executive summary, contacts and manual inspection. Additionally, the study reveals that the importance given to each element of the security policy is slightly changed according to the sectors of activity. The elements that show the greatest variability are the review process, executive summary and penalties. On the other side, the purpose of the policy and the asset management present a stable importance for all sectors of activity.

  • Exports play an important role in Korea's economy and industry. Korea's share in world trade is also increasing. Governments and trade organizations are making great efforts to promote exports. However, since SMEs lack resources of enterprises, SMEs have a lot of difficulties in increasing exports compared to large enterprises. For this reason, in this study, we analyzed the difference of perception of export difficulties according to characteristics of small and medium export companies. As a result, four factors such as overseas market information, price and cost, competitiveness and regulation of importing country were derived. In addition, we investigated the differences in recognition of export difficulties by the stage of growth of company, period of export, products exported, export department, size of company. There was a significant difference in recognition. Especially, The companies which are the early stages of growth, short export period, finished product, the smaller the size of exports companies are more difficult in export difficulties.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of quality management system requirements, a management innovation technique, on business performance to secure the competitiveness of SMEs in an environment of increasing uncertainty in the global economy and intensifying competition. To this end, a survey was conducted on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating a quality management system, and statistical analysis was performed through validity and reliability analysis, regression analysis, and group analysis using IBM SPSS 26.0. As a result of the study, it was found that planning, operation, support, and improvement, which are the core requirements of a quality management system, have a positive effect on business performance. In addition, through group analysis, it was found that the effect of quality management system requirements on business performance varies according to the level of the company. This means that the importance of quality management requirements required for strategy establishment varies according to the quality management introduction level of small and medium-sized manufacturers, and it can be used for small and medium-sized manufacturers to set strategic directions.

  • The Internet has motivated firms to participate in electronic commerce. With the development of electronic commerce, SMEs (small- and medium-sized enterprises) may be forced to use e-intermediaries in export marketing. This study aims at assessing e-intermediaries in various aspects. Empirical and theoretical studies are conducted to investigate determinants and effects of eintermediary use in export marketing. Based on resource-based view (RBV), the study develops a conceptual model that can address the question of which international competence and export performance are closely related to e-intermediary use by SMEs. Based on literature review and theoretical foundations, this study made four hypotheses. With AMOS, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for testing four hypotheses. The empirical findings support all hypotheses. Last, this study suggests examining comprehensive internal and external factors in terms of e-intermediary use as an interesting topic for future research.

  • The effectiveness of informatization can vary depending on the level of operation of the information system as well as investment and installation. This study investigates and analyzes the information system operating environment and quality level of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Korea, and investigates how it affects the performance indicators of companies. The influence of the environmental factors operating the information system on the productivity performance and financial performance through the quality level of the information system was analyzed through the structural model. As a result of the analysis, it can be said that the higher the level of information system operating environment factors, the higher the quality level, the higher the quality level, the higher the productivity performance, and the higher the productivity performance, the higher the financial performance. It is judged that the effect of informatization depends on the operating environment and quality level after the installation of the information system.

  • Case-based Reasoning (CBR) is widely used in business and industry prediction. It is suitable to solve complex and unstructured business problems. Recently, the prediction accuracy of CBR has been enhanced by not only various machine learning algorithms such as genetic algorithms, relative weighting of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) input variable but also data mining technique such as feature selection, feature weighting, feature transformation, and instance selection As a result, CBR is even more widely used today in business area. In this study, we investigated the usefulness of the CBR method in forecasting success in implementing ERP systems. We used a CBR method based on the feature weighting technique to compare the performance of three different models : MDA (Multiple Discriminant Analysis), GECBR (GEneral CBR), FWCBR (CBR with Feature Weighting supported by Analytic Hierarchy Process). The study suggests that the FWCBR approach is a promising method for forecasting of successful ERP implementation in Small and Medium sized Enterprises.

  • It has been known generally that investment in the extending ability to use the IT applications have further enhanced the productivity of effects of IT on firms by reducing costs, increasing returns, and increasing the speed of operations, etc. Notwithstanding this fact, it was very complex and difficult to evaluate concretely the effect of informatization of firm. SMEs(Small- & Medium-sized Enterprises) in particular. In this study, I point out the weakness of SMEs and analyze the effects of informatization through the count data model. For this analysis, I separate the effects into two part, such as organizational effect and personal effect. It comes to conclusion that organizational effect is larger than personal effect and the ability to practical use of IT systems is most efficient item related with informatization level. Since it will be important to cencentrate on raising this ability for heightening the competitiveness of SMEs.
