  • An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is an enterprise wide management system made possible by information technology. Organizations have been implementing ERP packages for integrating the business process in various functions. ERP has been helping companies to automate their entire business processes within the organization as a whole instead of just in some functional units. This paper presents five case studies indicating that enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems do enhance the performance of manufacturing organizations. The ERP systems studied are from SAP, Baan, and Oracle. In all five cases, better cross-functional integration was a critical success factor.

  • Currently, many companies are trying to be more competitive by implementing the most appropriate software package, called ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). ERP can support the company's business process. A repository, which can store and retrieve enterprise-wide information, is a key component of such software package. This paper implements an enterprise repository for the ERP. A well-known repository standard, IRDS (Information Resource Dictionary System), is employed for the repository architecture. The proposed metadata schema can help develop database, business applications, models, and workflow. To illustrate the practical usefulness, a real-life ERP prototype is built within the framework of the proposed repository.

  • Every year new tall buildings are being conceived, designed, and built with new schemes. Thus it is important to explore the factors that affect tall building design. Thus it is important to explore the tall building design factors. The planning and design of tall buildings require different criteria than those that exist in regular size buildings. Tall buildings are uniquely expressed by their structural systems where exterior esthetic and requirements of space drive the form and composition of the structural systems. Therefore the exploration of design factors is the key to achieve optimum building systems. Optimization as mentioned here is associated with the efficiency of the different building systems. To achieve an optimal system, there is a need for an understanding of the factors that affect on overall tall building design such as planning module, building function, lease span, floor-to-floor-height, building height (aspect ratio), structural system, environmental systems. In this paper a statistical approach will be used and will be based on data collected from the practice through a rigorous survey taken. This information is tabulated and analyzed. The major target of investigation will be lease span related to space requirement in the tall building planning. Factors related to lease spans, such as function, floor-to-floor height, planning module, building height, overall plan dimension, and plan ratio (building geometry), will be looked at carefully. IN conclusion, this approach of optimization can introduce a preliminary design guideline for tall building projects. The purpose of the paper should shed some light on the optimum tall building design criteria.

  • In this paper, we present the methodology of performance testing for web based university resource planning systems. The methodology contains an adequate procedure and workload assessment method. We execute real performance testing to the university resource system during system test stage. To verify the adequacy of the methodology, We compare the result between testing system's hardware utilization and operating system's. The result is nearly the same. Empirical experiments are also shown.

  • The direction of land use for the subject district (Zuksan-myun, Anseong-gun, Kyeonggi-do) were analyzed as the basic model of new rural land management system connected to production and living. General land use planning was presented by land suitability classification which was applied to geographical information system(software ARC/INFO). The course of analysis of land suitability using the geographical information system were generalized and the results of analysis for paddy and upland fields and settlement were presented as 5 criteria of the suitability rank. It was found out that the analysis of land suitability is able to use as primary data of rural land use planning.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a 3 dimensional spatial planning model (3DSPLAM) for facilities allocation and visual evaluation in improvement planning of rural village. For the model development, this study developed both planning layers and a modelling process for spatial planning of rural villages. The 3DSPLAM generates road networks and village facilities location automatically from built area plan map and digital elevation model generated by geographic information system. The model also simulates 3-dimensional villagescape for visual presentation of the planned results. The 3DSPLAM could be conveniently used for automatic allocation of roads, easy partition of land lots and reasonable locating of facilities. The planned results could be also presented in the stereoscopic models with varied viewing positions and angles.

  • The importance of information system evaluation has increased according to ICT development and this evaluation is required for objective verification. The aim of this study is to develop evaluation indicators for web-based information system and verify the availability of these evaluation indicators through applying to agricultural water integrated information system. This study finds and provides eight evaluation items and 64 indicators for a web-based information system using $3{\times}3$ Mandal-Art matrix that is a tool for creating creative ideas. These evaluation items are design, contents, navigation, stability, community, convenience, usefulness, and accuracy. Total 64 evaluation indicators were presented by deriving eight evaluation items for each using $9{\times}9$ Mandal-Art matrix. When evaluating information system using evaluation indicators, it can be identified the vulnerable items in the information system. Also, the comprehensive results of the information system could be understood when appearing a single score after weighting. In addition, it can also help to prepare a questionnaire for evaluation systematically.

  • We build a local minimum free motion planning for mobile robots considering dynamic environments by simple sensor fusion assuming that there are unknown obstacles which can be detected only partially at a time by proximity sensors and can be cleaned up or moved slowly (dynamic environments). Potential field is used as a basic platform for the motion planning. To clear local minimum problem, the partial information on the obstacles should be memorized and integrated effectively. Sets of linked line segments (SLLS) are proposed as the integration method. Then robot's target point is replaced by virtual target considering the integrated sensing information. As for the main proximity sensors, we use laser slit emission and simple web camera since the system gives more continuous data information. Also, we use ultrasonic sensors as the auxiliary sensors for simple sensor fusion considering the advantages in that they give exact information about the presence of any obstacle within certain range. By using this sensor fusion, the dynamic environments can be dealt easily. The performance of our algorithm is validated via simulations and experiments.

  • As a society of knowledge and information has been developed rapidly, because of changing from web environment to ubiquitous environment, a lot of countries across the world as well as S. Korea for e-Government have come to use the internet electronic voting for a variety of elections. So this research focused on the strategy consulting of the internet electronic voting of S. Korea with spatial information system analysed by the application of 'scenario planning' as a foresight method. And as a consequence, the strategy formulation of the electronic voting for the future S. Korea is to use the biometrics technology system as vein recognition and face recognition, using a part of the human body like a password, with spatial information system.
