  • The present paper centers on the establishment of a quantified relationship between the macroscopic visual parameters of a Diesel spray and its most influential factors. The factors considered are the ambient gas density, as an external condition relative to the injection system, and nozzle hole diameter and injection pressure as internal ones. The main purpose of this work is to validate and extend the different correlations available in the literature to the present state of the Diesel engine, i.e. high injection pressure, small nozzle holes, severe cavitating conditions, etc. Five mono-orifice, axi-symmetrical nozzles with different diameters have been studied in two different test rigs from which one can reproduce solely the real engine in-cylinder air density, and the other, both the density and the pressure. A parametric study was carried out and it enabled the spray tip penetration to be expressed as a function of nozzle hole diameter, injection pressure and environment gas density. The temporal synchronization of the penetration and injection rate data revealed a possible explanation for the discontinuity observed as well by other authors in the spray's penetration law. The experimental results obtained from both test rigs have shown good agreement with the theoretical analysis. There have been observed small but consistent differences between the two test rigs regarding the spray penetration and cone angle, and thus an analysis of the possible causes for these differences has also been included.

  • Colin Rowe was an important historian, theorist and critic in Modern architecture. His significance in Modern architectural history lies in not only historiography which has changed our view of Modernism but deep theoretical involvement in practice. This study is a critical review and analysis on his formalist approach in Architecture. With a view that his position of formalist has indispensible relationship with liberalism from K. Popper's critical rationalism, this study try to show how his philosophical background has an influence upon his way of seeing architecture, history, form, urbanism, and meaning, etc. And this study also try to explain why the principle of architecture as an autonomous discipline which is the main point of view in Rowe's criticism has been so successful and influential. This study also explain what is the possibility and limitation of Rowe's formalist approach and way of reading buildings. His intelligent way of formal analysis can give us new understandings of how the form generates and the process of design goes on. Furthermore it guide us a new horizon of architecture as a language game. Since his early writings showed both side of formalist approach in architecture and it didn't changed a lot. We can understand his 'Collage City' was a his final answer to his formalist way of making architecture and urbanism. we can estemate it as a utopia without utopianism and an ideology without ideological color.

  • Objective: This study investigated the problems that could be faced with when engineers try to improve the affective quality using the DMAIC model. Background: Affective quality is considered one of the most influential factors for the competitive power of consumer products and many engineers make effort to improve the affective quality. Since the Six Sigma process is effective and wide-used method for quality improvement, it can also be used to improve the affective quality. However six sigma tools cannot be directly used for affective quality because of the subjective and qualitative characteristics of the human affection. Method: Investigate the goals, processes and key factors of DMAIC model and find the difficulties to use six sigma tools for the affective quality. Results: Most of the problems arise from measuring and quantifying the human affective response level and understanding the relationship between the human affective factors. Conclusion: Both the protocol for measuring human affection and the monitoring system to find the affective response change for the product or service are required. Application: The results of this study could be helpful for the engineers not specialized in ergonomics to improve the affective quality in systematic approach.

The factors included socio-demographic characteristics, spouse's support, and social support of Vietnamese married immigrant women. Methods: A descriptive survey was conducted to collect data from 190 subjects during the period between May and June, 2015. The randomly sampled subjects answered a self-report questionnaire translated into Vietnamese. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21. Results: The subjects' quality of life was found to be influenced by economic level, subjective perception of their own and spouse's health, Korean communication ability, spouse's support, and social support. The most influential factor for the quality of life was spouse's support, and next, subjective perception of their own health, Korean communication ability, and economic level in order of influence. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that social support programs should be customized to the subjects' characteristics in order for married immigrant women to adjust themselves to new Korean environments and to lead a high-quality life through the promotion of marital relationship, Korean communication ability, health status, and economic capability.

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of the hours spent on book-reading on the relationship between academic achievement and the Key Competency of Acting Autonomously. This study utilized data from the 'Korean Assessment of the Key Competencies of Youth in 2009', which was conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute. The participants were 2,781 elementary school students, 2,770 middle school students and 3,599 high school students who were selected from 12 areas of Korea. The data was analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation coefficients and also through linear regression analysis. The results indicated that 1) academic achievement and the hours spent in book-reading was positively correlated to the competency of acting autonomously, 2) the effect of academic achievement on the competency of acting autonomously was partially mediated by the hours spent in book-reading, 3) and the mediating effect was the most influential when it came to elementary students, followed next by middle school and then finally high school students.

  • The objectives of this research; (1)To measure levels of the wife consumer competency and consumer role satisfaction (2) To investigate the sociodemographic variables influencing consumer competency (3) To determine the relationships of consumer competency and consumer role satisfaction (4) to provide the basic data useful for consumer education policies. For the evidence of this topic, research was conducted 370 wives in seoul. The major findings were; 1)Among the component of consumer competency consumer attitudes scores are highest and consumer knowledge scores are lowest. This implies that consumer education is necessary for the wife to obtain consumer knowledge. 2) Consumer skills differ significantly age and occupation and consumer knowledge differ significantly education and income 3) Resulting form multiple regression analysis, consumer competency had the positive linear relationships with the variables such as education, age and income.. The most influential variable is education, in turn age and income. but income is not statistically significant. 4) There are positive relationships among consumer attitudes, consumer knowledge and consumer skills. 5) consumer role satisfaction has positive relationship with consumer competency, Among components of consumer competency, the relationships of consumer role satisfaction and consumer knowledge is not statistically significant. This implies that consumer education for increasing consumer role satisfaction is necessary for the wife to obtain consumer skills and consumer attitudes.

  • Purpose: This study was to assess relationships among the uncertainty, medical staff's support, and anxiety perceived by family members with cancer patients while the family members were waiting for their patients undergoing surgery. Method: The data were collected from the family members of cancer patients who were undergoing surgery in D University Hospital at B city from February 1 to April 12, 2005. The used instruments were the State Anxiety Scale of Spielberger's(1975) STAI, Mishel's Uncertainty in Illness Scale (MUIS)(1981), and Relationship Questionnaires (Lee, 1978). The collected data was analyzed by using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: As the result, the most influential variable explaining anxiety of family members was uncertainty $({\ss}=0.37)$, followed by perceived illness state $({\ss}=-0.27)$. These two variables simultaneously explained 29.3% of the variance in anxiety. Conclusion: We suggest to develop a nursing intervention program to reduce the uncertainty through the medical staff's support and o test its effects.
