This paper describes switching method of the cross-sectional area of the fluid passage way to improve the performance of a hydraulic engine mount with an inertia track and a decoupler. The mount has nonlinear dynamic characteristics depending on the vibrational frequency and amplitude. For the convenience of analysis, two linear motion equations were derived on the basis of the mechanical model according to the low-and high-frequencies. The properties of the transmissibility and dynamic stiffness derived from the equations were investigated according to switching the cross-sectional area of the inertia track and decoupler. Switching method of the cross-sectional area can be derived from the transmissibility plot. In comparison between transmissibility of passive and switchable mounts with an inertia track and a decoupler, the performance of the switchable mount is improved greatly than the passive mount. The resonant peak is remarkably reduced in the high frequency region.
This paper describes work on isolation of vibration related engine by a hydraulic engine mount with controllable area of inertia track. Automotive engine mounts are required to constrain motion of engine shake resulting from low-frequency road input of shock excitation and also to isolate noise and vibration generated by the engine with unbalanced disturbance at the high frequency range. The property of the mount depends on vibration amplitude and excitation frequency, which means that the excitation amplitude is large in low excitation frequency range and small in high frequency range. In this paper, theoretical works with model of the mount to reduce vibrations related engine were conducted. The volumetric stiffness of the mount is greatly changed according to the switching the area of the inertia track. Therefore, when the area of the inertia track is tuned, the transmissibility of the mount is effectively reduced.

Hydraulic mounts show strong1y frequency-dependent stiffness and damping characteristics in low frequency range, which result from so called inertia track dynamics. A lumped mass has been incorporated in several mechanical models of the literature to take the inertia effect of the fluid in the track into consideration. Although complex s%illness by the mechanical model showed good agreements with the measured values, there exists a critical pitfall. In this paper, the shortcomings of mechanical models with lumped mass for hydraulic founts are clearly identified by illustrating actual measurements of the stiffness parameters for a hydraulic mount. It is conclusively discussed that the inertia effect of the fluid flow through the circular track is significant but latent. As an alternative to the mechanical model, a hydraulic model is claimed to be used for further dynamic analysis of engine/mount system or whole car system.

This paper presents the dynamic response and the vibration characteristics for a rail-track supported by discrete springs and dampers. Recently, automatic conveyer system, rail-track, rack-master system demand the soundproof facilities and vibration suppression measures in order to satisfy the strict environmental standards. The equations of motions of the dynamic characteristics for a vibration suppression rail-track under a traveling mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method considering gravity, centrifugal force, Coriolis force, inertia force of the moving mass, transverse inertia of the rail-track. Also, numerical results were calculated by Runge-Kutta integration method. In order to investigate vibration characteristics and dynamic responses, modal testing and measurement of the responses of the rail-track were performed. Through the experiment and numerical simulations, numerical results have a good agreement with experimental ones.
In this paper, a computer simulation method for dynamic analysis of the hydraulic engine mount system is proposed. The hydraulic engine mount system controls the damping characteristics using the viscosity of fluid flow The complex stiffness of the main rubber of the hydraulic engine mount system is computed by finite element analysis for the viscoelastic materials and hydro-static elements. A numerical analysis method is presented to solve nonlinear equations of the hydraulic engine mount system. which is composed of an engine mass, fluid in inertia track and a vertical inertia force of reciprocating mass in the engine. Also. dynamic properties of the hydraulic engine mount system are analyzed in the frequency domain. Effects of the hydraulic engine mount system running over the rough road are investigated using a vehicle dynamic model. These results are compared with those of the rubber mount system.
A lumped parameter model is proposed for the analysis of dynamic behaviour of a Passive Hydraulic Engine Mount (PHEM), incorporating inertia track and throttle, which is characterized by effective and efficient vibration isolation behaviour in the range of both low and high frequencies. Most of the model parameters, including volume compliance of the throttle chamber, effective piston area, fluid inertia and resistance of inertia track and throttle are identified by an experimental approach. Numerical predictions are obtained through a finite element method for responses of dynamic stiffness of the rubber spring. The experiments are made for the purpose of PHEM validation. Comparison of numerical results with experimental observations has shown that the present PHEM achieves good performance for vibration isolation.
This paper evaluates the performance of a Magneto-Rheological (MR) fluid mount. The mount incorporates MR fluid in a conventional fluid mount to open and closed the inertia track between the fluid chambers of the mount. It is shown that such switching of the inertia track improves the mount's isolation effect, by eliminating the large transmissibility peak that commonly exists at frequencies higher than the notch frequency for conventional fluid mounts. The switching frequencies of the MR mount is evaluated, based on the parameters of the mount. A simple control scheme for switching the mount between the open and closed states is proposed, and the performance of the controlled mount is compared with conventional mounts. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to evaluate the effect of parameter errors in estimating the switching frequencies and mount performance. The results show that the switching frequencies can be accurately determined from mount parameters that are easily measured or estimated.

In this paper, the steering characteristics of tracked vehicles are studied for the improvement of steering performance. The important design factor of military vehicles is high mobility. It is influenced by weight of a vehicle, engine capacity, power-train, and steering system. The military vehicle, which is equipped with caterpillar, has unique steering characteristics and is quite different from that of a wheeled vehicle. The steering of tracked vehicles is operated in the power pack due to different speeds of both sprockets. Under cornering conditions, power split and power regeneration are happened in the power pack. In case of power regeneration, power is transferred outside track after adding engine power and power inputted inside track from the ground. However, excessive power regeneration is transferred in the power pack. It damages mechanical elements. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the steering system and check mentioned problem above. In this study, the detailed dynamic model of steering system is presented, which includes slippage between track and roadwheel, inertia force, and inertia moment. Finally, our model is compared with the Kitano model and we verified the validity of the model.

Generally, it is said that control of the inertia system is to track the reference input quickly while suppressing the vibration due to the system itself. In this case, the difficulty fur designing a controller is caused by modeling uncertainty and parameter variation. The purpose of this paper is to propose a design method to suppress the vibration of three-mass inertia system based on the LMI theory. That is, the generalized plant model by which we can cope with conservativeness of the existing H$_{*}$ theory is proposed and analyzed in terms of LMI. The results of simulation fur the three-mass inertia system show that the proposed design approach is quite effective under the given situations.
