This study analyzes whether children's independent picture book reading affects their reading activities and whether the mother-child interaction during this reading improves their reading activities. The study provides basic data and policy implications for developing children's reading ability. Data were collected from a sample of 192 children aged 4 and 5 in Seoul and Anseong, where a survey of their mothers as well as their nursery school teachers was conducted. Variables of interest were analyzed through a correlation analysis and a hierarchical regression analysis, First, children's reading recognized by their mothers was bipolarized as "very high" or "very low". Second, children's reading activity had a significant positive relationship with independent reading, indicating that children active in independent reading were likely to develop their, reading ability. Third, in addition to independent reading, the mother-child interaction had a significant positive effect on children's-reading ability, indicating the importance of the mother's role in developing the child's reading ability.

This study tested the validity of a three-factor model of the centrality of visual product aesthetics developed by Bloch, Brunel, and Arnold (2003) and explored the relationships between the centrality of visual product aesthetics and the relevant constructs. It was hypothesized that the path relationships including innovativeness and consumer independent judgment making are relevant constructs of the centrality of visual product aesthetics. Data were gathered by surveying university students in the Seoul metropolitan area (using convenience sampling) and 322 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. Correlation analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis were conducted to analyze the data. The findings show the validity of the three factors (value, acumen, and response intensity) of the centrality of visual product aesthetics. Tests of the hypothesized path show that innovativeness influences the centrality of visual product aesthetics both directly and indirectly through consumer independent judgment making. Innovativeness positively influenced consumer independent judgment making and the three factors of the centrality of visual product aesthetics, whereas consumer independent judgment negatively influences the response intensity factor of the centrality of visual product aesthetics. The implications of these findings and suggestions for future study are also discussed.

Independent component analysis (ICA) is a statistical method for linearly transforming observed high-dimensional multivariate data into several statistically independent components. ICA has gained wide-spread attention in a variety of fields including spectrum application. We focus on the application of ICA for separating independent sources from a set of mixtures and estimating their fractions in a mixture. The proposed method of estimating fractions is based on the regression model subject to the non-negativity constraint on coefficients. Simulation experiments are performed to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach.

T Abstract This study investigates the influence of differential factors on learner satisfaction by field-independent learning style in e-learning. Most of data were collected from students. Participants were classified based on a learning style typology (field-independent/dependent) and, then, analyzed was the influence of key factors on learner satisfaction using multiple regression analysis. This study suggests that e-Learning service providers need to differentiate learners based on learning style in order to improve learner satisfaction. Specially, Field independent learners are more likely to be satisfied by the teacher's provide degree of joyful, degree of contents, degree of learning control pacing, ability of problem solving and consistency.

Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) is a third-party assessment that is to confirm that the system satisfies the safety requirements in the defined operational context. The process of this assessment often brings about many complex arguments that should be supported by evidence and justification. The communication between arguments and evidence is of the most importance in the context of safety case. This study illustrates how NOR-STA can be used for ISA process, showing the effective structure of safety compliance. The study outlines the steps to breaks down the top goal into many elements such as arguments, sub-goals, justification, context and assumptions. It concludes that the evidence-based safety conformance process utilizing NOR-STA provides a more effective and systematic representation of the independent safety assessment process in conformance cases.

Purpose : The purpose of the study was to determine Effects of the ADL Group Study Program Training on Functional Independence and Quality of Life for the CNS Patients. Methods : Thirty patients with stroke were assigned to experimental and control group. During eight weeks, both group participated in the conventional physical therapy and only the experimental group added in the ADL Group Study program. Experimental group performed two a week for 8 weeks and both group were scored Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean version before the training. The data were analyzed with frequency, independent t-test, paired t-test using SPSS PC(ver.12.0). Results : The result of this study is as fallows : First, after eight weeks, the experimental group the significant improvement in Korean Activity Daily Living scale, washing(p<0.01), bathing, ambulation, toilet using(p<0.05) and decorating, the short distance transfer(p<0.05) in Korean Independent Daily Living scale, vitality(p<0.05) in Quality of Life score. Conclusion : These finding suggest that the ADL Group Study Program Training can be used to improve functional independent and quality of life for the CNS patients. Also, the result of this study can provide a reference for the successful therapeutic program in CNS patients.

Recently, as one of the policies for carbon free operation method of independent power system replacing diesel generator with renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaic(PV) system has been presented. Therefore, this paper proposes an operation algorithm and modeling of independent power system by considering CVCF(constant voltage constant frequency) ESS(energy storage system) for constant frequency and voltage, LC(load control) ESS for demand and supply balancing and SVC(static var compensator) for reactive power compensation. From the simulation results based on the various operation scenario, it is confirmed that proposed operation algorithm and modeling may contribute stable operation and carbon free in independent power system.

It presents a unification of buck-boost and flyback converter for driving a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter with a single independent DC voltage source. Cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter is useful to make many output voltage levels for sinusoidal waveform by combining two or more H-bridge modules. However, each H-bridge module needs an independent DC voltage source to generate multi levels in an output voltage. This topological characteristic brings a demerit of increasing the number of independent DC voltage sources when it needs to increase the number of output voltage levels. To solve this problem, we propose a converter combining a buck-boost converter with a flyback converter. The proposed converter provides independent DC voltage sources at back-end two H-bridge modules. After analyzing theoretical operation of the circuit topology, the validity of the proposed approach is verified by computer-aided simulations using PSIM and experiments.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and a frequent cause of cancer-related deaths among women wordlwide. As therapeutic strategies for breast cancer have limitations, novel chemotherapeutic reagents and treatment strategies are needed. In this study, we investigated the anti-cancer effect of synthetic homoisoflavane derivatives of cremastranone on breast cancer cells. Homoisoflavane derivatives, SH-17059 and SH-19021, reduced cell proliferation through G2/M cell cycle arrest and induced caspase-independent cell death. These compounds increased heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and 5-aminolevulinic acid synthase 1 (ALAS1), suggesting downregulation of heme. They also induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, they reduced expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4). Therefore, we suggest that the SH-17059 and SH-19021 induced the caspase-independent cell death through the accumulation of iron from heme degradation, and the ferroptosis might be one of the potential candidates for caspase-independent cell death.
