Arytenoid motion has long been recognized as complex. Misunderstandings about the specifics of arytenoid motion remain prevalent. The resultant misunderstandings have led to erroneous or suboptimal clinical approaches to the treatment of vocal fold immobility. A thorough understanding of the anatomy of the arytenoid and cricoid cartilages, the cricoarytenoid joint, and related ligaments, muscles, and other structures is essential in order to fully understand laryngeal motion disorders. Arytenoid motion occurs in three directions. Movements involving a change anteriorly and posteriorly, as well as vertically, are due to the revolving or pitchlike motion of the arytenoid along the minor axis of the cricoid's elliptically shaped facet. The medial and lateral movements are due to the orientation of the arytenoid which in turn is determined by the forward, lateral, and inferior inclination of the cricoid-arytenoid facet. During adduction it is the outward angulation of the vocal process from the body of the arytenoid that allows the entire length of the vocal proceses to approximate one another and to have this meeting occur at the proper vertical height.

The action of rainwater on reinforced concrete walls has led to an erosion phenomenon. The erosion is very apparent when the walls are inclined. This phenomenon is studied on a real site characterized by different architectural forms. The site dates back to the seventies; it was designed by the architect, modeler of concrete, Oscar Nie Meyer. On this site, the erosion has damaged the cover of the reinforcements and reduced its depth. In this research work, a method of quantification of the erosion is developed. Using this method, the amount of mass loss by erosion was measured on imprints taken from the site. The results are expressed by the rate of mass loss by erosion; they are associated to the height and the inclination of the walls. Moreover, laboratory analysis was carried out on samples taken from the site. From this study, it is recommended to consider the erosion, in any building code, to determine the cover thickness.

This study offers a design procedure of optimum cable damper for multi-mode vibration control with nonlinear damper and also investigate the relation between mode and amplitude dependency. The proposed multi-mode damping index, which is defined as a energy loss ratio of cable potential, is a main component of optimization problem of optimum nonlinear damper. In order to include the amplitude dependency of nonlinear damper, it is assumed to exist three kinds of multi-mode patterns such as ambient vibration, support excitation and rain-win induced vibration. The optimum damper exponent depends on amplitude patterns. In case of ambient vibration, optimum factor is less than 0.5. In case of support excitation or rain-wind induced vibration is between 0.5 and 1.0. In this study, the effects of cable sag and inclination angle are included in the asymptotic design equation of damped cable structures.
FeCoB films were being prepared on a Ru underlayer by using the oblique incidence of sputtered and back-scattered particles which have a high in-plane magnetic anisotropy field $H_k$ above 400 Oe. It is suitable to attain such deposition condition when facing targets sputtering system. The in-plane X-ray diffraction analysis clarified that there is anisotropic residual stress which is the origin of the high in-plane magnetic anisotropy. The directional crystalline alignment and inclination of crystallite growth were also observed. Such anisotropic crystalline structures may affect the anisotropic residual stress in the films. The B content of 5.6 at.% was appropriate to induce such anisotropic residual stress and $H_k$ of 410 Oe in this experiment. The film with B content of 6 at.% possessed large saturation magnetization of 22 kG and high $H_k$ of 500 Oe. The film exhibited high ferromagnetic resonance frequency of 9.2 GHz.

Recently, quantitative and repetitive inspections of the old urban area were conducted because many structures exceed their designed lifetime. The health of a building can be validated from the condition of the outer wall, while the slant angle of the wall widely serves as an indicator of urban regeneration projects. Mostly, the inspector directly measures the inclination of the wall or partially uses 3D point measurements using a static light detection and ranging (LiDAR). These approaches are costly, time-consuming, and only limited space can be measured. Therefore, we propose a mobile mapping system and automatic slant map generation algorithm, configured to capture urban environments online. Additionally, we use the LiDAR-inertial mapping algorithm to construct raw point clouds with gravity information. The proposed method extracts walls from raw point clouds and measures the slant angle of walls accurately. The generated slant angle map is evaluated in indoor and outdoor environments, and the accuracy is compared with real tiltmeter measurements.
The present investigation is concerned with two dimensional deformation in a homogeneous nonlocal thermoelastic solid with two temperature. The nonlocal thermoelastic solid is subjected to inclined load. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to solve the problem. The bounding surface is subjected to concentrated and distributed sources. The analytical expressions of displacement, stress components, temperature change are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion technique has been applied to obtain the results in the physical domain. Numerical simulated results are depicted graphically to show the effect of angle of inclination and nonlocal parameter on the components of displacements, stresses and conductive temperature. Some special cases are also deduced from the present investigation.
This paper deals with the design process of the footbridge over the branch between Singil and Yoido. For the design of a resonable and beautiful footbridge, it is required to consider technical methods and artistic geometry. The design approach to this footbridge is related with both the field of science and art, therefore from starting the process is made in cooperation with engineers and architects. It results in not only reasonable but economical structural master piece to close the gap between a technology-oriented tendency and a artistic inclination toward structural design.

The FRP plate or sheet bonding technology was widely used for strengthening deficient RC structures. The strengthened structure using FRP bonding scheme, however, experience the complex interfacial behaviour which is difficult to predict. Therefore, the unbonded scheme using some anchorage device can be is an alternative for more reliable design. In this study, wedge-type anchor for FRP plate is developed for the unbonded flexural strengthening scheme. Some parameter study using 2D finite element method is performed. The analysis parameters are taken as wedge-guide friction coefficients, wedge- FRP ,.friction coefficient and wedge inclination angle. Based on the parameter study, more efficient anchors are designed and tested. The test result show that the developed anchor assure about $80\%$ FRP strength, which is higher performance than typical bonding scheme. Last, 3D finite element analysis is performed.

This paper proposes an innovative method for selection of measurement sets in static parameter identification of concrete or steel bridges. This method is proved as a systematic tool to address the first steps of Structural System Identification procedures by observability techniques: the selection of adequate measurement sets. The observability trees show graphically how the unknown estimates are successively calculated throughout the recursive process of the observability analysis. The observability trees can be proved as an intuitive and powerful tool for measurement selection in beam bridges that can also be applied in complex structures, such as cable-stayed bridges. Nevertheless, in these structures, the strong link among structural parameters advises to assume a set of simplifications to increase the tree intuitiveness. In addition, a set of guidelines are provided to facilitate the representation of the observability trees in this kind of structures. These guidelines are applied in bridges of growing complexity to explain how the characteristics of the geometry of the structure (e.g. deck inclination, type of pylon-deck connection, or the existence of stay cables) affect the observability trees. The importance of the observability trees is justified by a statistical analysis of measurement sets randomly selected. This study shows that, in the analyzed structure, the probability of selecting an adequate measurement set with a minimum number of measurements at random is practically negligible. Furthermore, even bigger measurement sets might not provide adequate SSI of the unknown parameters. Finally, to show the potential of the observability trees, a large-scale concrete cable-stayed bridge is also analyzed. The comparison with the number of measurements required in the literature shows again the advantages of using the proposed method.

To study the effect of sequence on DNA structure, the two decamer crystal structures one alternating,d(GTACGCGTAC), and the other non-alternating, d(GGCCGCGGCC), were solved. Crystals of both decamers belong to the hexagonal space group $P6_122$, with one strand in the asymmetric unit. The unit cell constants of the alternating decamer are a = b = 39.26 $\AA$, c = 77.70 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 1,828 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 Aresolution to an R value of 21.3% with all DNA atoms and 63 water molecules. The isomorphous non-alternating decamer had unit cell dimensions of a = b = 39.05 $\AA$, c = 82.15 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 2,423 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 $\AA$ resolution to a final R value of 22.2% for all DNA atoms and 65 water molecules. Although the average helical parameters of the decamers are typical of A-DNAs, there are some minor differences between them. The helical twist, rise, x-displacement, inclination and roll alternate in the alternating decamer, but do not in the non-alternating decamer. The backbone conformations in both structures show some differences; the residue G(7) of the alternating decamer is trans for $\alpha$ and $\gamma$ while the trans conformations are observed at the residue G(8) of the non-alternating decamer.
