인천 해안지역 지반의 국지적 침식특성 평가 (A Case Study on Local Erosion Characteristics Evaluation of the Inchon Coast)

  • In this study, the effect of scour was evaluated by regional and geotechnical characteristics and back data were accumulate for the design against scour through the local erosion characteristics evaluation of the Inchon coast. The erosion characteristics for the undisturbed soil samples collected near the main locations at the Incheon 2nd bridge, the Hwangyeong bridge, and a coast road in Songdo, are determined quantitatively through the scour rate tests. On the basic soil properties test, the bed around the Inchon coast chiefly consists of fined grained soils, and the soil samples were classified as silty clay(ML) or clay(CL) under the Unified Soil Classification System. On the scour rate test, the critical shear stress increases when the undrained shear strength increases as of the general trend of fine grained soils, and the average scour rate for the maximum velocity by 100 year flood is 173mm/hr at the Incheon 2nd bridge, 67mm/hr at the Hwangyeong bridge and 10mm/hr at a coast road in Songdo, respectively. Comparing to the scour rate of coarse grained soil, that of the bed around the Inchon coast is turned out to be very low. Therefore, the relative ability of the bed around the Inchon coast to resist erosion is assumed to be very high.

Tidal Computations For Inchon Bay

  • A two-dimensional non-linear tidal model has been established to calculate the M$\_$2/ tide of Inchon Bay in the west coast of Korea. Cartesian coordinates are used for the derivation of the governing equations and account is taken of extensive drying boundaries (tidal flats) which are exposed at low tides. The tidal amplitudes and phases computed from the model agree well with those known from observation lying within bounds 5cm in amplitude and 5 in phase relative to the observed results. The work represents a further stage in the development including extensive sea measurements capable of application in various coastal engineering problems encountered in Inchon Bay area.

국내 연약 점성토 지반의 지반공학적 특성 (Geotechnical Characteristics of Soft Clayey Soil in South Korea)

  • In this paper, 4 representative soft clayey soils in south Korea are selected to estimate the geotechnical characteristics and provide the instructions avaliable for construction works; Inchon Coast, Kum River Estuary, Kwangyang Bay, and Nakdong River Estuary. Total 2250 boring data are collected to construct the data base system on selected areas from Korea geotech DB system, scientific journals, theses, and site investigation reports. Considering the geological, topographical and regional features, geotechnical properties, deformation and strength characteristics of 4 soft clayey soils are evaluated by analyzing the constructed DB system statistically.

"한진인천"호 침몰종의 원인에 관한 이론적인 연구 (A Theoretical Study on the Causes of the Sinking Disaster of M/V Hanjin-Inchon)

  • The disasters of wet bound vessels have been more frequent than those of east bound ones on the sea routes of the North Pacific Ocean in winter season. M/V Hanjin-Inchon was also west bound in her missing voyage. The container vessel of 17, 676 gross tons, M/V Hanjin-Inchon owned by Hanjin Shipping Co.Ltd in Seoul Korea left seattle in west coast of U.S.A for Pusan , Korea on the 5th Feb., 1987 and sailed along the exact courses recommended by Ocean Routes until she reported her position and speed as 49-30N, 158-00E and 8 knots to her head office in Seoul by this ship's time 2200 hours on the 13th Feb., 1987. The above message turned out to be last message from her because she had been missing since then leaving no message but only two life boats of her name, three containers cases, large scale of oil slicks and the corpse of her 3rd mate drifting on the sea near the position reported by her last message.

  • This paper presents the result of a study on the distribution characteristics of salt contaminants in the west coast region, from Inchon to Yearsoo, of South Korea. To evaluate the distribution characteristics of salt contaminants, we had measured the equivalent salt deposit density(ESDD) with brush wiping method for thirteen month(from May 1999 to June 2000). Under the consideration on the measuring interval and method, normalization method was applied for the ESDD data. Besides the measurement, the chemical analysis (chromatography) was carried to investigate the relationship, between the electrical property and the amount of specific ingredient, such as sodium, magnesium and chloride. From the result, we could get the representative value of contamination for each site and distribution characteristics of salt contaminants with the distance from sea in the west coast.

한국연안의 월평균해면의 변화에 대하여 (On the Variations of Monthly Mean Sea Levels along the Coast of Korea)

  • 본고는 한국연안의 9개검조소 (울릉도, 묵호, 울산, 부산, 진해, 여수, 제주, 목포 및 인천등)의 최근의 월평균해면의 자료를 분석한 성과이다. 평균해면의 변화가 주로 기압 및 바람의 효과, 해수밀도의 변화, 하천유량의 변화 그리고 경도류의 역학적효과등에 기인한다는 것은 여러 해양학자들에 의해 증명되었다. 특히 근래에는 평균해면의 자료를 해황의 변동의 판단에 이용하려고 노력하고 있다. 원래 해양관측은 다액의 경비와 인력을 필요로 하므로 동일해역을 자주 관측한다는 것은 매우 곤란하므로 비교적 용이한 해면의 관측을 통해 해황변동을 파악한다는 것은 매우 흥미있는 사실이라 생각된다. 과거 한국근해의 평균해면에 대한 연구조사는 1930년 소창신길(Ogura,S.)가 원산, 부산, 군산, 인천 및 진남포등의 평균해면의 월편차를 산출발표한것과 금1967년 가을 Listzin, E.가 "도해의 평균해면의 변화"라는 제목의 논문에서 원산 및 부산의 평균해면을 논한 것뿐이다. 그리고 Miyazaki, M.는 1954년 "일본연안의 평균해면의 계절변화"를 연구발표한바 있다. 앞으로 한국연해의 해황판단 에 평균해면자료를 이용시도함에 앞서 우선 평균해면에 미치는 요소를 특히 기압의 영향과 해수밀도의 변화의 효과를 고찰해 보기로 한다.

일제강점기의 수산적 유수실태에 관한 고찰 -서해안 지역을 중심으로- (A Research on the State of Korean Seafood Marketing at the Colonial Period - Focused on the West Coast -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the state and characteristic of seafood marketing in Korean West Coast during the colonial period ruled by Japan. To accomplish the purpose, we tried to set the fisheries statistical database by reviewing of $\boxDr$Statistical Annual Report of Chosun Chongdokbu$\boxUl$ and $\boxDr$Official Report of Chosun Chongdokbu$\boxUl$. A trend analysis was carried out with the data. Also, by reviewing of articles related to the state of seafood marketing via $\boxDr$Daehan Maeil Newspaper$\boxUl$, $\boxDr$Maeil Newspaper$\boxUl$ issued at the period, we could find out some meaningful findings which backed up the statistics in realistic facts. For numbers of businessman in seafood marketing, it was clear that the number of Japanese businessmen increased more quickly than that of Korean compared with other sphere of fisheries. That means Japanese grasped Korean seafood market in a short time. In price of seafood in terms of cities, Kunsan was comparatively higher than Incheon and Mokpo. In price of seafood in terms of species, ‘Snapper’ was mostexpensive, and ‘Mackerel Pike’, ‘Anchovy’, ‘Mullet’, ‘Eel’, ‘Flatfish’ followed in that order. In price of a species in terms of ‘Yellow Croaker’, which was famous in West Sea, ‘Croaker with salt’ was more expensive than dried and fresh one. For the transition trend of number of fish market, we could ascertain that the number of market increased until 1919, however, it decreased slowly from 1932. That means Japanese government went to war against China from 1931. Of the West Coast, the number of fish market in Chungnam province was most high, but that of Chonbuk outrun from 1940. At that time, the number of fish market in West Coast reached to 34% out of that of whole country. In 1919, the proportion of seafood sales amount of West Coast neighboring provinces, such as Kyunggido, Chungnam, and Chonbuk, was 23% of whole country which rose to 28% in 1929, and 29% in 1939. Therefore, we could assure that seafood marketing was very active at that time in the region. When we consider the trend of seafood export at the main ports of West Coast, in 1910's, the export through Mokpo and Inchon port was very live but that of Kunsan was very tiny. However, in 1920's, the export amount of Inchon port did not much change, but that of Mokpo decreased, whereas, that of Kunsan increased. In the early and middle of 1910' s which was around beginning of Japanese ruling period, we realized that the imperialist Japan was very eager in political efforts to enhance the mind of seafood's quality improvement through the opening of several fisheries competitive shows and fairs.

Statistics on Radiation Field Waveforms Associated with Multiple Intracloud Lightning Discharges

  • This paper presents the detailed statistics on radiation field signatures associated with multiple-intracloud lightning discharges. A transient signal recording system was used to measure the electric and magnetic fields produced by lightning flashes. The measurements were made in th summers of 1995 through 1999, and the location of the observation station was in Inchon on the coast of the Yellow Sea in Korea(37$^{\circ}$25'N, 126$^{\circ}$ 39'E). Most of lightning flashes typically contains between two and five strokes. The individual intracloud stork radiation fields were the bipolar pulse. On the average, the ratio of the peak of the second stroke to the first stroke peak was 75.1$\pm$40.1% for the negative, and a fraction of the subsequent stroke peaks were higher than the first stroke peak. The greater the number of the subsequent stroke order, less time separations between strokes were produced. The mean of the depth of the dip was 81.2$\pm$27.9% for the positive polarity and 75.9$\pm$24.4% for the negative. The depth of the dip increased for the positive bipolar pulses and decreased for the negative as the number of the stroke order increased.

  • 우리 나라와 일본, 러시아의 총 44개 관측점에서의 수위 자료에서 조석을 제거, 해입을 계산하여 연별최대양의 해입값, 최대음의 해이값을 구하고 그 값들의 평균을 구하여 각 해안에서 발생하는 해익의 특성을 고찰하였다. 우리 나라 의 경우는 양의해 익과 음의해익 모두 그 진폭이 서해안에서 크고 남해안과 동해안으로 갈수록 점차 줄 어드는 양상을 보였다. 각 관측점에서 발생한 양의해익과 음의 해익의 진폭의 평균을 비교해 보면 서해안의 경우는 음의 해익의 진폭이 양의 해익의 진폭보다 더 크고, 우 리 나라 의 남해안과 동해안 또 일본 서해안의 경우는 그 반대였다. 또한 동해에서는 북부 러시아 해안에서는 해익이 남부 일본 서해안에서는 해익에 비해 상대적으로 큰 결과를 보였다. 국내 각 관측점간의 해익의 연중 최대치를 비교해 본 바에 의하면, 서 해안에서 양의 해익 최대치가 나타난 것은 열대성 저기압에 의한 강풍의 결과이고, 남 해나 동해에서 나타난 경우는 여름철 태풍에 의한 결과였다. 음의 해익의 경우는 거의 대부분 서해, 특히 인천에서 열대성 저기압에 의한 연중 최대치가 나타났다.
