  • In this study, we perform the optimization of trailing arm bush in a vehicle rear suspension to improve the ride and handling performance. A design problem was formulated considering 2 objective functions and 7 constraints related to vehicle ride and handling performance. PIAnO, one of the PIDO (Process Integration and Design Optimization) tool, was used to automate analysis procedures and perform a design optimization. In order to assess relation between performances and design variables, we perform the DOE (Design of Experiments). To find the optimal solution, we used Progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM), one of the design optimization techniques equipped in PIAnO. As an optimization result, we got an optimal solution and could improve lateral force steer off-center by 43.0% while decreasing brake compliance at wheel center by 8.1%.

  • In order to investigate experimentally the clinical effects of Taeuminkalkunhaeki-tang (太陰人葛根解肌湯) that was prescribed to cure the Kansuyolriyolbyong (肝受熱裏熱病) of Taeumin, the author experimented various activities of mixed extract from Taeuminkalkunhaeki-tang by the methods prescribed in the experimental part. The results of the studies were summarized as follows: 1. Sedative effects such as malfunction of the spontaneous motor activity in the wheel cage method experiment and muscle relaxation in the rotor rod method experiment were noted. 2. In mice, the prolongation of the duration of hypnosis Induced by thiopental-Na was noted. 3. In the acetic acid method experiment and the pressing hind paw method experiment, analgesic effects were noted. 4. Inhibitory effects were noted on the convulsions incuced by strychine and picrotoxin. 5. The expansion of blood vessels by relaxation of smooth muscle was noted. According to the above results, effects based on oriental medical references approximate to the actual experimental results.

  • The presented investigation of shift clonk in a vehicle with front-wheel drive shows how a detailed analysis of the complete acoustic system with respect to excitation, transfer and radiation foremost enables possibilities of noise reduction to be worked out. One of the most important basics for the shift clonk analysis was a synchronous measurement of both, torsional vibrations in the drive train on the excitation side as well as airborne and structure-borne noise signals on the transfer and radiation side. Thus, root causes could be identified and improvement measures of the internal shift system could be worked out. An analysis of the transfer paths by means of airborne and structure borne noise measurements made evident that the side shafts were responsible for the disturbing frequencies in the transfer paths. With the help of the FE-simulation it was possible to develop measures of structure optimisation for the side shaft system. The realisation of these measures clearly reduced the shift-noises in the vehicle interior.

  • There are about 2.4million disabled in Korea, 2009. Also, Korean society entered into an aging society. Therefore disable and elderly are getting more involved in our society. This study proposes simple ramp design for wheel chair users and welding method and condition for manufacturing. In the middle of ramp, screw jack and motor are installed so that ramp can be moved left and right side. To make the ramp moves easily, ramp was fixed by installing LM guide on both sides. Ramp production for using Nd:YAG laser certain dissimilar welding in stainless steel sheet and cold reduced carbon steel. The output was fixed by 3kW, the speed was increased to 2~7m/min, Argon was used as shielding gas and the flow rate was changed to 10~30L/min. The proper welding condition is the output 3kW and welding speed 2~5m/min.

  • LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is a horizontal transfer system for the yard automation. which has been proposed to take the place qf AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) in the maritime container terminal. the system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle mr. It is desirable to reduce the weight of LMTT in order to control the electronic devices with minimum energy. In this research structural optimization for a mover of shuttle mr is performed to minimize the weight satisfying design criteria the objective function is set up as weight. On the contrary, design variable is considered as transverse, longitudinal and wheel beam's thickness and shape variable determining the dimension toward high direction and the constraints are the stresses.

  • In General, the hydraulic system of T-50 Advanced Trainer is applied to flight control system, wheel & Brake system and fuel system for aircraft operation. The hydraulic system is operation with pressure of 3000psi. and many mechanical parts which is operated by hydraulic system has been stressed in incomplete environment same as heat and friction. for example, Oil leakage had occurred in the shutoff valve of FFP used in a certain period of time. After study, The crack progressed by fatigue due to the irregular hydraulic pressure and vibration has been identified as the reason of oil leakage. This paper presents life cycle extension plans of FFP shutoff valve by configuration improvements of shutoff valve and FFP hydraulic motor.

  • With the growing traffic density and increasing comfort requirements, the automation of the drive train will gain importance in vehicles. The automatic clutch actuation relieves the drivers especially in urban driving and stop-and-go traffic conditions. In this paper, an electro-mechanical actuator for clutch-by-wire (CBW) system is implemented as the first stage for the development of automated manual transmissions. The prototype of CBW actuator is designed systematically, which is composed of the electric motor, worm & worm wheel and crank mechanism. And the test rig is developed to perform the basic function test for the automatic clutch actuation. The developed prototype is validated by the experimental results on the test rig.

  • Reliability and safety of steer-by-wire concepts can be achieved by redundant designs. This paper discusses the design of a fault tolerant concept for a force feedback actuator with a standard three-phase PMSM. In contrast to usual drives, the phases of the machine are separated electrically. This design allows driving the machine with two instead of three phases in case of a fault. A superimposed torque controller adjusts the influence of fault currents and torque harmonics in two-phase operation and guarantees smooth torque at the steering wheel

  • High-precision surface actuator, in which in-plane motion is realized by not two-dimensional actuator superposing linear actuators but integrated planar actuator, has been developed to cope with the severe target performance like precise motion with large envelope. It is very difficult to accomplish the performance with the traditional actuating principle. So, various methods have been tried to break through the problem. This paper discusses some meaningful trials performed in the Nano Measurement and Precision Motion Control Lab. of Korea National University of Transportation.
