VT-Modulation of Planar Tunnel Field-Effect Transistors with Ground-Plane under Ultrathin Body and Bottom Oxide

  • Control of threshold voltage ($V_T$) by ground-plane (GP) technique for planar tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET) is studied for the first time using TCAD simulation method. Although GP technique appears to be similarly useful for the TFET as for the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET), some unique behaviors such as the small controllability under weak ground doping and dependence on the dopant polarity are also observed. For $V_T$-modulation larger than 100 mV, heavy ground doping over $1{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$ or back biasing scheme is preferred in case of TFETs. Polarity dependence is explained with a mechanism similar to the punch-through of MOSFETs. In spite of some minor differences, this result shows that both MOSFETs and TFETs can share common $V_T$-control scheme when these devices are co-integrated.

Steady Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Wing Flying Over a Nonplanar Ground Surface Part II : Channel

  • The steady aerodynamic characteristics of a wing flying over a channel are investigated using a boundary-element method. The present method is validated by comparing the computed results with the measured data. Compared with a flat ground surface, the channel fence augmented the lift increase and induced drag reduction. When the fence is lower than the wing height, the gap between the wingtip and the fence does not affect the aerodynamic characteristics of the wing much. When the fence is higher than the wing height, the close gap increased the lift. The induced drag is reduced when the wing is placed near the ground or at the same height as the fence. It is believed that present results can be used in the conceptual design of the high-speed ground transporters flying over the channel.

  • In this research, the physical properties of self compacting concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash as a part of cement were investigated. Concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash was prepared with various ground granulated blast furnace slag(30-50 volume %) and fly ash(10-20 volume %) replacement for cement. The effect of each of the materals, which have effects on self compacting concrete made by the basic mix proportion used granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash after hardening, has been checked. The workability, flowing characteristics, resistance of segregation of materals, air content, and compressive strength of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash were tested and the results were compared with those of ordinary portland cement concrete. In the experiment, we acquired satisfactory results at the point of flowing characteristics and strengths of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace and slag fly ash within the replacement ratio of 65%

안전화 형태와 Insole 착용 유무에 따른 보행동작시 하지부위에 대한 지면반발력과 압력분포 부하 (A study on the ground reaction forces and plantar pressure variables in different safety shoes and applying insole during walking)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the ground reaction forces and plantar pressure variables among three different safety shoes (Type 1: ergonomically designed and high quality shoes, 2: curved and cushioned safety hoes, and 3: regular safety shoes) and to find the effect of insole during walking. Ten healthy subjects were recruited for this study. The ground reaction force was measured using a 3 dimensional motion analysis system. Plantar pressures were measured Pedar Mobile foot pressure scan system. The ground reaction force variables were not significantly different among three different shoe types and insole conditions. After insertion insole, plantar pressure distributions were improved. These results suggest that the type 1 safety shoes was superior than other safety shoes in the statistics, and applying insole could be a possible method to prevent fatigue of lower extremity and musculoskeletal disorders. Further studies are needed to find the effect of ergonomically designed safety shoes design and insole on practical value prevention of musculoskeletal disorder, fatigue and satisfaction of workers.

토양 열전도도와 수분함량이 수평형 지중열교환기 설계 길이에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Soil Thermal Conductivity and Moisture Content on Design Length of Horizontal Ground Heat Exchanger)

  • This paper reviewed and evaluated some of the commonly used prediction models for thermal conductivity of soils with the experimental data. Semi-theoretical models for two-component materials were found inappropriate to estimate the thermal conductivity of dry state soils. It came out that the model developed by Cote and Konrad gave the best overall prediction results for unsaturated soils available in the literature. However, it still needs to be improved to cover a wider range of soil types and degrees of saturation. In the present study, parametric analysis is also conducted to investigate the effect of soil type and moisture content on the horizontal ground heat exchanger design. The analysis shows that horizontal ground heat exchanger pipe length is reduced with the increase of soil thermal conductivity and water content. The calculation results also show that horizontal ground heat exchanger size can be reduced to a certain extent by using backfilling material with a higher thermal conductivity of solid particles.

Investigation of Effect of Input Ground Motion on the Failure Surface of Mountain Slopes

  • The reliable seismic stability evaluation of the natural slopes and geotechnical structures has become a critical factor of the design. Pseudo-static or permanent displacement methods are typically employed to evaluate the seismic slope performance. In both methods, the effect of input ground motion on the sliding surface is ignored, and failure surface from the limit equilibrium method is used. For the assessment of the seismic sensitivity of failure surface, two-dimensional non-linear finite element analyses are performed. The performance of the finite element model was validated against centrifuge measurements. A parametric study with a range of input ground motion was performed, and numerical results were used to assess the influence of ground motion characteristics on the sliding surface. Based on the results, it is demonstrated that the characteristics of input ground motion have a significant influence on the location of the seismically induce failure surface. In addition to dynamic analysis, pseudo-static analyses were performed to evaluate the discrepancy. It is observed that sliding surfaces developed from pseudo-static and dynamic analyses are different. The location of the failure surface change with the amplitude and Tm of motion. Therefore, it is recommended to determine failure surfaces from dynamic analysis

경사모래지반의 사각형 수동 열말뚝에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Study on the Rectangular-Shaped Passive Row Piles in Inclined Sand-Ground by Model Test)

  • 본 연구는 지반변형을 일으키는 경사모래지반에 매설된 사각형 수동열말뚝의 모형실험에 대한 것이다. 실험은 지반의 경사각을 조절하여 지반파괴를 유도 하였고, 말뚝의 형상, 위치, 간격을 달리하여 말뚝 거동을 측정하였다. 그 결과 수동말뚝에 작용하는 토압과 수평저항력 그리고 지반변형억제 효과를 확인하였다. 전면 폭이 넓은 B-type 말뚝이 측면 폭이 넓은 H-type 말뚝보다 지반변형억제 효과가 크게 나타났다. 사면경사에 따른 수평저항력 그래프를 이용하여 사면의 파괴각, 말뚝과 지반의 분담력을 알 수 있다.

  • Vibro crushed-stone compacted pile (VCCP) method is one of a ground improvement technique by a vibro compaction in vertical direction with crushed stone to build up stone pile foundation in other to ensure stability of soft ground. In spite of its long applied history in geotechnical engineering division, most of studies have not been based on the reliable In-situ condition but on the laboratory tests including model tests. These model tests can express standard and ideal behavior but exceptional status that can be occur in the ground cannot be considered efficiently. This study performed the the series of trial construction to investigate the effect of VCCP method on the improvement of soft ground expecially in railroad construction site.

개단 강관말뚝의 폐색효과에 대한 모형실험 연구 (Evaluation of Plugging Effect of Open-Ended Model Pipe Pile)

  • 개단 강관말뚝의 선단지지력은 폐색 효과에 의하여 발생되는데 이 폐색 효과는 말뚝의 직경에 대한 관입깊이의 비 즉, 상대 관입깊이와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 폐색 효과를 종합적으로 평가하기 위하여 지반의 상대밀도와 모형말뚝의 상대 관입 깊이를 달리하여 재하시험을 수행하였으며 개단 말뚝의 유효직경을 축소시킬 목적으로 십자 모양의 칸막이 판을 선단에 부착한 모형말뚝에 대한 시험도 병행하였다. 그 결과로서 개단 말뚝은 말뚝의 극한 지지력을 기준으로 폐색효과를 평가할 때 말뚝 타설 지반이 단단할수록 작은 상대관입깊이에서 큰 폐색효과를 얻을 수 있으나 100%의 폐색효과는 지반의 상대밀도에 상관없이 대략 상대관입깊이 25 정도에서 발휘된다는 사실을 알았다. 그리고 칸막이 판의 설치로 인한 폐색효과의 증대는 기대하기 어려운 것으로 판단된다.

지상시험 모델용 달착륙선 플룸 해석을 통한 추력기간의 간섭 효과 분석 (Analysis of Plume Impingement Effect of Lunar Lander)

  • 지상시험 모델용 달착륙선에 사용되는 추진시스템은 기체의 착륙 속도를 감소시키기 위한 Descent Control Thruster (DCT) 와 착륙 과정에서의 자세제어를 위한 Attitude Control Thruster (ACT) 등 두 종류의 추력기 모듈이 장착 되어 진다. 본 논문에서는 수치해석을 이용하여 착륙선의 특성상 좁은 공간에서 배치된 DCT 간에 발생 될 수 있는 플룸의 간섭 효과에 의한 영향과 지면에 근접 할 경우 발생 될 수 있는 영향에 대해 분석 하였다.
