  • In this paper, we propose a new sign subband adaptive filter to improve the convergence rate of the conventional sign subband adaptive filter which has been proposed to deal with colored input signal under the environment with impulsive noise. The existing sign subband adaptive filter does not increase the convergence speed by increasing the number of subband because each subband input signal is normalized by $l_2-norm$ of all of the subband input signals. We devised a new sign subband adaptive filter that normalizes each subband input signal with $l_2-norm$ of each subband input signal and increases the convergence rate by increasing the number of subband. We carried out a performance comparison of the proposed algorithm with the existing sign subband adaptive filter using a system identification model. It is shown that the proposed algorithm has faster convergence rate than the existing sign subband adaptive filter.

  • The unsteady dynamics of the starting flow of a flat plate is studied by using a vortex shedding model. The model describes the body and separated vortex from the trailing edge of the plate by vortex sheets, retaining a singularity at the leading edge. The model is applied to simulate the flow of an accelerated plate for small angles of attack. For numerical computations, we take two representative cases of the translational velocity of a plate: impulsive translation and uniform acceleration. The model successfully demonstrates the formation of wakes shed from the plate. The wake behind the plate is stronger for a larger angle of attack. Predictions for the lifting force from the model are in agreement with results of Navier-Stokes simulations.

  • In this paper, performance of DSRC systems is analyzed with considering the real roads and height of vehicles. The channels are modeled as 2-Ray and 4-Ray with a direct wave and reflected waves by a road and buildings in a physical layer because DSRC keeps LOS propagation characteristics, and the pass loss for each model is calculated respectively. Rician factor is obtained through the calculated path loss on two models for DSRC, and the performance of the systems is analyzed in AWGN and Rician fading channels, Impulsive noise and Rician fading channels respectively. As a result, in Rician fading channels with impulsive noise(A=0.2, ${\Gamma}^{\prime}=0.22$), BER is below $10^{-6}$ when the distance is farther than 80[m] and 40[m] in 2-Ray model and 4-Ray model respectively. For performance improvement, BCH coding scheme and MRC diversity scheme are adopted.

  • Physically-based researches on simulating helicopter motions have been achieved in the field of aeronautics, aerodynamics and others. These results, however, have not been appled in the computer graphics area, mainly due to their complex equations and heavy computations. In this paper, we propose a dynamics model of helicopter rotor blades, which would be easy to implement, and suitable for real-time simulations of helicopters in the computer graphics area. Helicopters fly by the forces due to the collisions between air and rotor blades. These forces can be interpreted as the impulsive forces between the fluid and the rigid body. Based on these impulsive forces, we propose an approximated dynamics model of rotor blades, and it enables us to simulate the helicopter motions using existing rigid body simulation methods. We compute forces due to the movement of rotor blades according to the Newton's method, to achieve its real-time computations. Our prototype implementation shows real-time aerial navigation of helicopters, which are murk similar to the realistic motions.

  • The EMG signal of spinal cord injured patient is very feeble because that the information from central nervous system is not sufficiently transmitted to molter neuron or muscle fiber. Therefore the observer can not observe contraction and relaxation movement of muscle from the raw EMG signal. In this paper, we propose the muscle contraction and relaxation pattern analysis method of spinal cord injured patient whose EMG signal is composed of the sum of motor unit action potential train with additive white Gaussian noise and impulsive noise. From the EMG model, we denoise impulsive noise using median filter which is a kind of nonlinear filter and the output of median filter is transformed to wavelet transform domain for denoising additive white Gaussian noise using threshold level removal technique. As a result, we can obtain the clear contraction and relaxation pattern.

  • A multichannel smart sound sensor capable to detect and identify sound events in noisy conditions is presented in this paper. Sound information extraction is a complex task and the main difficulty consists is the extraction of highlevel information from an one-dimensional signal. The input of smart sound sensor is composed of data collected by 5 microphones and its output data is sent through a network. For a real time working purpose, the sound analysis is divided in three steps: sound event detection for each sound channel, fusion between simultaneously events and sound identification. The event detection module find impulsive signals in the noise and extracts them from the signal flow. Our smart sensor must be capable to identify impulsive signals but also speech presence too, in a noisy environment. The classification module is launched in a parallel task on the channel chosen by data fusion process. It looks to identify the event sound between seven predefined sound classes and uses a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) method. Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients are used in combination with new ones like zero crossing rate, centroid and roll-off point. This smart sound sensor is a part of a medical telemonitoring project with the aim of detecting serious accidents.

  • The impulsive stress and wave propagation of a glass/epoxy laminate subjected to the transverse low-velocity impact of a steel ball are investigated theoretically and experimentally. A plate finite element model based on Whitney and Pagano's theory In consunchon with experimental contact laws is used for the theoretical investigation. The specimens fo, statical indentation and impact test we composed of [0/45/0/-45/0]$_{2s}$ and [90/45/90/-45/90]$_{2s}$ stacking sequences and have clamped-simply supported boundary conditions. Finally, these two results are compared and then the impulsive stress and wave propagation characteristics of this laminated composite are studied.ied.

  • This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of social shopping, adventure shopping, value shopping, relaxation shopping, and idea shopping in influencing impulsive online buying behavior moderated by scarcity and serendipity information. The research method used is the quantitative research paradigm using surveys as a medium to obtain primary data. The paper examines the theoretical research model and tested fifteen hypotheses. The questionnaire was developed based on indicators from previous research. A non-probability sampling framework is used in this study. The data collection method uses electronic and online questionnaires to collect primary data with a total sample of 330 taken with the criteria of having made transactions in e-commerce Shopee in the last three months. Data analysis tools using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach. The results showed that 8 out of 15 hypotheses were accepted and supported. The results show that there is a relationship between the value of hedonic shopping, scarcity, and serendipity information on impulsive online buying behavior. Therefore, analyzing the needs of customers, optimizing customer satisfaction, service excellence, website quality, and the ease of use of e-shopping itself especially in the e-commerce industry should be taken seriously nowadays.

  • In this paper, a new pitch beginning point detection method by extracting the G-peak, is proposed. By the speech production model, the area of the first peak on a pitch interval of speech signals is emphasized. By using the above characteristics, this method have more advantages than the others for pitch beginning point detection. The defective decision caused by an impulsive noise is minimized and the pre-filtering is not necessary for this method, because the integration of signals takes place in the process.

  • Hydrodynamic behavior and response of vertical-cylindrical liquid-storage tank is considered. The equation of the liquid motion is shown by Laplace's differential equation with the fluid velocity potential. The solution of the Laplace's differential equation of the liquid motion is expressed with the modified Bessel functions. Only rigid tank is studied. The effective masses and heights for the tank contents are presented for engineering design model.
