Improvement of Efficiency in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells with Addition of TBA to the TiO2 Paste and Its Electrochemical Analysis (이산화티타튬 페이스트에 TBA 첨가에 따른 염료감응 태양전지의 효율향상 및 전기화학적 분석)

  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are considered as promising alternatives to conventional photovoltaic device. However, commercialization of the DSSCs is restricted due to the low efficiency. In this paper, highly efficiency DSSCs were fabricated by the adding the TBA to the $TiO_2$ paste. $TiO_2$ photoanode added 0.2 M TBA in DSSCs are shown the best efficiency of 9.14 %. This result ascribed to improvement of the connection between the $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by the addition of the optimized amount TBA. The morphology of the photoanode was observed by FE-SEM. Further investigation about the kinetics of the electrochemical processes are performed by the EIS analysis. Longest diffusion length was obtained in case adding 0.2 M of TBA to $TiO_2$ paste, which was matched well with the improved efficiency.

A study on efficiency improvement of power amplifier from enhanced harmonic suppression using DGS coupled line (DGS 결합선로를 이용하여 고조파 억압특성을 향상시킨 전력증폭기의 효율증대에 관한 연구)

  • This paper suggests that efficiency improvement of power amplifier to enhance harmonic suppression using a DGS line structure. A efficiency related harmonic component is an important factor to design of power amplifier. Therefor harmonic component suppress consisting coupled line using DGS after power amplifier. A DGS line with periodic slits and stubs is first designed and joined after power ampifier. Experimental measurements for efficiency of power amplifier in the WCDMA are shown to improve 6% of PAE.

Impact of energy efficiency improvement on greenhouse gas in off-season tomato farming: Evidence from Punjab, Pakistan

  • Energy consumption in agriculture is responsible for greenhouse gas emission but it can be reduced after efficient utilization of energy inputs. Therefore, the present study aims for the estimation of energy efficiency and extent of greenhouse gas reduction after benchmarking of inefficient farms in off-season tomato in Punjab province of Pakistan. Primary data were collected from 70 farmers with simple random sampling. By using data envelopment analysis, the average value of technical, pure technical and scale efficiency was 0.80, 0.92 and 0.87, respectively while increasing, constant and decreasing return to scale was observed in 33, 26 and 11 farmers, respectively. Total input energy was reduced by $12,688.91MJ\;ha^{-1}$ (13.89%) if inefficient farms used the energy inputs according to recommendations or benchmarking. A major portion of energy saving comes from fertilizers (68.79%) followed by diesel (15.70%), chemicals (5.91%), machinery (4.37%) and water (4.00%). Total greenhouse gases reduction was $499.17kg\;CO_2\;eq.ha^{-1}$ (14.57%) as a result of improvement in energy efficiency or benchmarking of inefficient farms. Agricultural extension staff should visit the vegetable farms on regular basis and give necessary information about efficient utilization of energy inputs. The government should create awareness about the optimum use of input through seminars and pamphlets.

  • Main PDP panel efficacy improvement factors are discussed. A large panel efficacy improvement can be obtained through a combination of discharge efficiency improvement and phosphor improvement. Important design elements are a high Xe-content gas mixture, the application of a $TiO_2-layer$, and a new green phosphor with little saturation at high VUV-load. In a 4-inch color test panel with a conventional stripe-type cell configuration a white efficacy of 4.4 lm/W and a luminance of 5000 $cd/m^2$ is obtained for sustaining at 250V in addressed condition.

  • Solar cells are considered ideal as a clean energy to generate electricity. However, silicon-based photoelectric cells show some shortcomings in efficiency, cost and reliability. This has been a barrier to further commercialization. This paper shows how 40 Inventive Principles can be used in the research and development on the solar cells to improve efficiency, cost and reliability.

  • In Color AC Plasma Display Panel(PDP). Low luminous efficiency is a major problem. We measured luminous efficiency of PDP as a function of the Ar mixing ratio. Our results show that efficiency has improved by $5{\sim}10%$ at the condition of 0.5% Ar mixing ratio, compared with Ne-Xe(4%) or He-Ne-Xe(4%) (He:Ne = 7:3) gas.

  • In order to confirm the efficiency of Oriental medical treatment on Vascular dementia, 24 probable and possible vascular dementia patients diagnosed by ADDTC criteria, were chosen and followed among the patients who had visited KOMC from April, 1996 to March, 1997. They were given herbal and acupuncture therapy, mainly focused on circulating qi(順氣)and removing phlegm(治痰) which is generally applied in early stage of cerebro-vascular disease, and then assessed by the improvement of stage according to the level of impairment, as proposed by APA. The results were as followed. 1. Out of 25 cases, 8 patients showed 2 grade improvement(++), 15 patients showed 1 grade improvement(+), and 1 patient showed no change. 2. The efficiency of treatment is higher when they're given treatment earlier. 3. The efficiency of treatment is higher when their symptoms are lighter. In conclusion, this study shows meaningful effect of Oriental medical treatment on vascular dementia and also shows that It's more effective in the case of short onset and mild symptom.

  • Background: This study investigates improvements in non-value-added nursing activities in clinical work, in order to improve the efficiency and quality of nursing activities. Methods: The study was performed as a quality improvement project at a tertiary general hospital. The nursing activities that needed improvements were categories into admission care, discharge care, supply management, diagnostic work-up related activities, and others. The nursing time and frequency of non-value-added activities were compared across nine nursing units before and after implementation of the quality improvement program. Post-implementation patient and nurse satisfaction were subsequently analyzed. Result: Post-implementation, the time spent on non-value-added nursing activities was reduced and patients and nurses were satisfied with the improvements. Discussion: Reducing non-value-added activities in nursing can increase the work efficiency and ensure time for patient care, thus improving the quality of nursing care. For further study, accurate surveys on nursing activities based on nursing time are required.
