  • Purpose: The need for the rapid evaluation and treatment of emergency department patients with major trauma is essential. A computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system can improve communication and provide immediate access to information with the goal of reducing ED time delays. The aim of this study was to report on the operation of a trauma CPOE program and demonstrate its usefulness by comparing time intervals from ED arrival to various evaluation steps before and after implementation of the program. Methods: This was a before-and-after observational study from a single emergency department at an academic center. The CPOE program was implemented for 6 months and compared with the data collected from the pre-CPOE implementation period. The efficacy of the program was assessed by comparing the time difference before and after CPOE implementation based on the following factors: total boarding time in ED, door-to-disposition decision time, door-to-blood-test report time, door-to-X-ray time, door-to-CT time, and door-to-transfusion time. Results: Over a period of 6 months, the CPOE was activated for a total of 17 patients. Total boarding time was reduced significantly after implementation [median, 641.5 minutes (IQR, 367.3-859.3) versus289.0 minutes (IQR, 140.0-508.0) for pre-CPOE vs. post-CPOE, respectively, p< 0.05). Time intervals for all evaluation steps were reduced after implementation of the program. The improvements in the door-to-blood-test and door-to-CT times were both statistically significant. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that a standard CPOE system can be successfully implemented and can reduce ED time delays in managing trauma patients.

  • Combining a qualified group of people and following through the appropriate phases in the necessary order is crucial to project success. Companies face a wide range of issues and obstacles during implementation that can remain until they start using the system. Benchmarking Partners categorizes these problems into three groups: people issues, process issues, and technology issues Companies should try to implement ERP software as quickly as possible. in fact most companies now use a technique commonly referred to as a rapid implementation methodology. This paper outlines the challenges companies can anticipate during implementation and identifies and describes the six common steps of an ERP project. the paper also discusses new approaches, known as rapid ERP methodologies that are designed to help companies hasten the implementation of such systems.

  • The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) developed Doc 9995 "Manual of Evidence-based Training," with the intention of providing guidance by establishing a new methodology for the development and conduct of a recurrent training and assessment program. The airline pilot training regulations were largely based on the evidence of hull losses from early generation jets, and in order to mitigate a risk, simply repeating an event in a training program was sufficient. At the time, studies concluded that it was time to change the paradigm of training and assessment program for pilots. One airline alone implemented Evidence-Based Training (EBT) program in their flight crew training and assessment program while another airline partially implemented the EBT program. In the regulatory framework of MOLIT, specific EBT regulations have not been established yet. Therefore, it is recommended to develop rules and standards that comply with ICAO SARPs as soon as possible. In this study we review the key steps in the implementation of the baseline EBT, approval process of baseline EBT program, and policy options regarding the implementation of EBT. It will provide guidance to operators, Approved Training Organizations (ATO), and stakeholders.

  • This paper proposes a translation approach for PLCs (Programmable logic controllers) converting ladder diagrams directly to native codes, and describes detailed steps of the method followed by performance evaluation. A general-purpose DSP (Digital signal processor) based implementation validates the approach as well. A benchmark test shows that the Proposed translation framework fairly speeds up execution in comparison with the existing interpretation approach.

  • Gait analysis through wearable sensors is becoming a key research topic in mobile. In gait analysis, step detection is one of the most important processes that will lay down the foundation for future implementation. In this paper, we will propose a simpler algorithm to determine and analyze the steps using accelerometer sensor built-in mobile phone that physically placed into the trouser pocket. This is the location where most of mobile devices are. With 5 volunteers walking in 160 seconds, the accuracy of this method is approximately 98.5%.

  • This paper CMOS full adder design method based on carry-propagation-free addition trees and a circuit technique, so called multiple-valued current-mode (MVCM) circuits. The carry-paopagation-free addition method uses a redundant digit sets called redundant positive-digit number representations. The carry-propagation-free addition is by three steps, and the adder can be designed directly and efficiently from the algorithm using MVCM circuit. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through simulation(SPICE).

  • This paper presents a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) framework for implementation on safety system of nuclear power plant (NPP). RCM is a systematic methodology to optimize the surveillance and maintenance tasks for critical components which provides efficiently and effectively reliability of system and safety of plant. Maintenance of the safety systems is essential for its safe and reliable operation. Reliability Centered Maintenance at NPP is the program which assure that plant system remains within original design criteria and that is not adversely affected during the plant life time. Aim of this paper is to provide the RCM framework to implement it on safety systems. RCM framework is described in four major steps.

  • Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes with belief-propagation (BP) algorithm achieve a remarkable performance close to the Shannon limit at reasonable decoding complexity. Conventionally, each iteration in decoding process contains two steps, the horizontal step and the vertical step. In this paper, an efficient implementation of the adaptive offset min-sum (AOMS) algorithm for decoding LDPC codes using the single-step method is proposed. Furthermore, the performances of the AOMS algorithm compared with belief-propagation (BP) algorithm are investigated. The algorithms using the single-step method reduce the implementation complexity, speed up the decoding process and have better efficiency in terms of memory requirements.
