  • Spatial phenomena such as environment pollution, disease and the risk of spreading information need a rapid initial response to perceive spread event. Moving data perceive spread event through real-time processing and analysis. To process and analysis the event, spatial-temporal complex event processing is used. Previous spatialtemporal complex event processing is possible basis spatial operator but insufficient apply to design spatialtemporal complex event processing to perceive spatial phenomena of high complexity. This study proposed hierarchical spatio-temporal CEP design which will efficiently manage the fast growing incoming sensor data. The implementation of the proposed design is evaluated with GPS location data of moving vehicles which are used as the incoming data stream for identifying spatial events. The spatial component of existing CEP software engine has been extended during the implementation phase to broaden the capabilities of processing spatio-temporal events.

  • In general, a multipath generator consists of a time delay generator, phase rotator, and amplitude attenuator, and is implemented mostly in an analog manner. Analog, or partially analog versions of a multipath generator is disadvantageous in that they may suffer from problems associated with component aging and adjustment, signal fidelity degradation stemming from repeated A/D and D/A conversion use of high frequency to achieve fine i.e., subsample fractional tin delays. This paper presents the design and implementation methodology of a full digital multipath generator which can be used in performance evaluations of digital terrestrial television as well as communications, receivers. In particular, an efficient practical method is proposed which can achieve both integer and fractional time delays simultaneously, without placing restrictions on the allowable system master clock frequency. The proposed algorithm lends itself to minimizing hardware implementation cost by relegating some fixed put of the computation involved to an IBM PC. The proposed multipath generator occupies only a single digital board space, and its experimental results are provided to corroborate the proposed implementation methodology.

  • The increasing demand on the use of multimedia video contents drives more mobile embedded systems to incorporate H.264/AVC decoding capability. An H.264/AVC decoder often requires high computation bandwidth during its decoding phase. Depending upon processor computation capability and multimedia contents complexity, the decoder can be implemented either in hardware or software. However, without a thorough analysis on the Performance and resource requirements, it is difficult to choose a cost-effective methodology of implementing this codec. This paper presents both hardware and software implementation of H.264/AVC decoding subsystem in mobile embedded systems, and quantitatively analyses the performance and resource requirements. It also shows the methodology to identify performance bottleneck in Linux-based mobile embedded systems, which is in turn used to select feasible and efficient implementation methodology.

  • Official development assistance (ODA) projects are conducted under the auspices of donor countries and on the principle of time-limited implementation for economic development and welfare improvement in a host country. Exit strategies on how to end official assistance are therefore crucial. Sudden economic recession in a donor country could lead to the suspension of ODA projects, which would affect diplomatic relations and project outcomes. Further, exit strategies can help continue the original project and create links with other ODA projects. This study shows how to employ exit strategies in the Korea-Mongolia Greenbelt Plantation Project and has implications for sustainability of development assistance. Exist strategies were not taken into consideration initially. In the course of implementation and management transfer upon the completion of plantation, various facets were considered later on in developing exit strategies. An ideal exit strategy is to reach the extent to which a host country no longer needs official assistance or has capacity of project implementation on its own. A year-by-year transfer of planted areas can be a phase-over strategy. The Korea Forest Service fulfilled transparent cooperation with Mongolian local governments, established appropriate arrangements with stakeholders, secured institutional and financial foundation for follow-up management by a host country, and realized predictability, responsibility, and sustainability. As a local institution, the plantation technology management center has been established for follow-up activities such as the introduction of agro-forestry. When the Korea Forest Service designed an urban forest project as an exit strategy, sustainability was ensured, which has implications in implementing other ODA projects.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a teaching-learning plan of apartment house class to improve middle school students' empathy for home economics education and to verify its effect. The study was conducted in five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation using the ADDIE model. In the analysis phase, the study set learning objectives after analyzing how community housing is dealt with in the 2015 revised home economics curriculum and 12 current technology and home economics textbooks. In the design and development stage, in order to evaluate the validity of the experts and to improve the empathy ability, the study goal design, the composition of the learning elements, the development of the learning materials, and the pre and post-questionnaire for the students were developed. In the implementation stage, the empathic ability evaluation was carried out before and after the beginning of the first class by applying the teaching-learning process plan of the 8th class. In the evaluation stage, we examined whether the teaching-learning process developed in this study has a significant effect on empathy ability by evaluating the pre-post difference of empathy ability. As a result of examining the results of the pre - and post - evaluation of empathy ability for the results of this study, both cognitive and communicative factors were improved, and the apartment house class had a significant effect on the improvement of empathy ability.

  • This paper deals with a new 3-phase power quality disturbance generator. The proposed generator can provide phase jump as well as voltage sag, swell, outage, unbalance, and over and under voltage. The operating principle of the generator is described in each mode of disturbance. The magnitude of the phase jump is analysed and it is found that the magnitude is the function of the turn-ratios of the transformers consisting the generator. The scheme has simple structure compared with the conventional one, and the major components of the proposed scheme are SCR thyristor and transformer, which guarantees high reliability and cost-effective implementation of the generator. Furthermore, high efficiency can be obtained because there is no PWM switching of the semiconductor devices, and it is easy to control the system. Simulations are carried out to confirm the operation in each disturbance mode, and experiments has been done with 5kVA power rating. The usefulness of the proposed scheme is verified through simulation and experimental results. It is expected that the scheme can be applied to the performance test of the custom power devices such as UPS, DVR, DSTATCOM, and SSTS with cost-effective system.

  • This paper proposes a novel three-phase current-fed active clamp DC-DC converter for fuel cells. A single common active clamp branch is used to limit transient voltage across the three-phase full bridge and to realize zero-voltage switching(ZVS) in all switches. To apply for the power generation system current-fed type has been combined with the three-phase power conversion system. The proposed approach has the following advantages: an increase (by a factor of three) of input current and output voltage chopping frequencies; lower RMS current through the inverter switches with higher power transfer capability; reduction in size of reactive later components and the power conditioning system; better transformer utilization; increase of the system reliability. Therefore, the proposed three-phase current-fed active clamp DC-DC converter is appropriate for the boost type DC-DC converter for fuel cells and also applicable for the photovoltaic and battery charge system. The paper details the analysis, simulation and hardware implementation of the proposed system. Finally, experimental results with the proposed PWM strategy demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme on a 500W prototype converter.

  • Function analysis and idea creation phase in Value Engineering(VE) Process is applied to manufacturing Industry for developing functions for elements of products, and in construction come to use various components like process, size of project, spaces as well as function itself due to multi-functional aspect. For this reason, VE applications to the construction industry are considered to be less frequent and efficient than to the manufacturing. To resolve this problem, a new technique of Function Integration Fast(HI FAST) and Hierarchical Value Engineering Concept Modules(HVECM) was made for practical integration and sequence of VE job Plan. Two types of function would be defined In this method, first and second function, during the job Plan process, and two function champions be selected for next creation phase process. For verification of consecutiveness of function analysis and idea creation phase for successful VE project implementation, this methodology was tested under design phase in office and IT Multi-functional building project. Make sure the successful application of this process with this method, need to develop the talent of VE experts and team members for process of function analysis and creation phase.

  • A digital phase wrapping modulation (DPM) open-loop polar transmitter can be efficiently applied to a wideband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system by converting in-phase and quadrature signals to envelope and phase signals and then employing the signal mapping process. This mapping process is very similar to quantization in a general communication system, and when taking into account the error that appears during mapping process, one can replace the coordinates rotation digital computer (CORDIC) algorithm in the coordinate conversion part with the Taylor series approximation method. In this paper, we investigate the application of the Taylor series approximation to the cartesian to polar coordinate conversion part of a DPM polar transmitter for wideband OFDM systems. The conventional approach relies on the CORDIC algorithm. To achieve efficient application, we perform computer simulation to measure mean square error (MSE) of the both approaches and find the minimum approximation order for the Taylor series approximation compatible to allowable error of the CORDIC algorithm in terms of hardware design. Furthermore, comparing the processing speeds of the both approaches in the implementation with FPGA reveals that the Taylor series approximation with lower order improves the processing speed in the coordinate conversion part.

  • This paper presents the implementation of the speed control system for 3 phase induction motor using PD controller and neural networks. The PD controller is used to control the motor and to train neural networks at the first time. And neural networks are widely used as controllers because of a nonlinear mapping capability, we used feedforward neural networks(FNN) in order to simply design the speed control system of the 3 phase induction motor. Neural networks are tuned online using the speed reference, actual speed measured from an encoder and control input current to motor. PD controller and neural networks are applied to the speed control system for 3 phase induction motor, are compared with PI controller through computer simulation and experiment respectively. The results are illustrated that the output of the PD controller is decreased and feedforward neural networks act main controller, and the proposed hybrid controllers show better performance than the PI controller in abrupt load variation and the precise control is possible because the steady state error can be minimized by training neural networks.
