Act on hospice-palliative care and life-sustaining treatment decision-making and institutional measures for its implementation (연명의료결정법의 시행과 제도적 실현을 위한 방안)

  • First of all, this study shows the legal issues of hospice and palliative care, and the legal basis for lifelong medical practice is generally derived from medical, civil and criminal law regulations, and is applied to patients who are severely ill and dying in principle. In addition, those what is particularly meaningful about hospice and palliative care in terms of legal aspects are discussed the determination of the purpose of care and the provision of medical adaptability and adult guardianship, in particular the legal criteria for the work and status of patient representatives. As such, the purpose of care is to form part of the contract of care and to be agreed between the patient and the physician. In addition, the patient may not write to his/her agent in advance, and the patient may admit discretionary powers to his/her agent, but the patient's will is to be considered. In conclusion, the medical institutional ethics committee should play an active role, especially in the case of no-agents/family or no intention of the patient.

  • In this paper, a new filtering scheme for vehicle tracking with distorted measurement is presented. This filtering scheme is essential for the implementation of the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system. The proposed method combines the IMM and the probabilistic fuzzy model and is named as the Fuzzy IMM (FIMM). The IMM is employed to recognize the intention of the preceding vehicle. The probabilistic furry model is introduced to compensate the distortion of the range sensor. Finally, a computer simulation is performed to illustrate the validity of the suggested algorithms.

  • We propose a brain-machine interface(BMI) based human-robot interaction(HRI) platform which operates machines by interfacing intentions by capturing brain waves. Platform consists of capture, processing/mapping, and action parts. A noninvasive brain wave sensor, PC, and robot-avatar/LED/motor are selected as capture, processing/mapping, and action part(s), respectively. Various investigations to ensure the relations between intentions and brainwave sensing have been explored. Case studies-an interactive game, on-off controls of LED(s), and motor control(s) are presented to show the design and implementation process of new BMI based HRI platform.

  • Multi-agent systems for semantic web applications require efficient implementation of agent architectures without sacrificing the flexibility and the level of abstraction that agent architectures provide. In this paper, we present an agent system, called VivAce, which is implemented in Java to achieve both high efficiency and the level of abstraction provided by the BDI agent architecture. VivAce (Vivid Agent Computing Environment) has the characteristics of a vivid agent through the BDI agent model. A vivid agent is a software-controlled system whose state comprises the mental components of knowledge, perceptions, tasks, and intentions, and whose behavior is represented by means of action and reaction rules. We first identify the requirements for multi-agent systems and then present the relevant features of VivAce and experimental results.

  • This paper describes the implementation of an internet-based servo-control system with novel direct internet control architecture which is insensitive to the inherent internet time delay. The servo control system can be controlled by using a PC provided at a local site. However, a large internet time delay may make some control inputs distorted. Moreover, since it is acted by the number of the internet nodes and loads, this delay is variable and unpredictable. This system consists of servo mechanism and Ethernet control adapter. Intention of this paper is to reduce the expenses, to manage effectively for plant and to increase the productivity through linking each plant of several factories by TCP/IP and Ethernet, and then many control plants and manager minimize the needed work. Experiments are partially fulfilled using the Labview and Matlab.

Implementation of Fish Robot Tracking-Control Methods (물고기 로봇 추적 제어 구현)

  • This paper researches a way of detecting fish robots moving in an aquarium. The fish robot was designed and developed for interactions with humans in aquariums. It was studied merely to detect a moving object in an aquarium because we need to find the positions of moving fish robots. The intention is to recognize the location of robotic fish using an image processing technique and a video camera. This method is used to obtain the velocity for each pixel in an image, and assumes a constant velocity in each video frame to obtain positions of fish robots by comparing sequential video frames. By using this positional data, we compute the distance between fish robots using a mathematical expression, and determine which fish robot is leading and which one is lagging. Then, the lead robot will wait for the lagging robot until it reaches the lead robot. The process runs continuously. This system is exhibited in the Busan Science Museum, satisfying a performance test of this algorithm.

  • Technological developments facilitate payment transactions. In 2020, Bank Indonesia issued a regulation that supports QR payments using the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS). PT ABC is one of the banks that launched a QR payment feature on mobile banking with QRIS standards to make it easier for customers to make payment transactions at various merchants. In its implementation, the interest of QR payment users still tends to be small, so an analysis of the interests of QR payment users is carried out. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence user interest by using a modified UTAUT model. The UTAUT model was modified by adding variables to perceived trust, perceived risk, perceived regulatory support, and promotional benefits. The population taken is the company's customers in the DKI Jakarta area and it takes 403 samples for this case study. The results of empirical analysis show that 8 out of 12 hypotheses are considered proven where business expectations, social influence, perceived trust, perceived risk, perceptions of regulatory support, promotion benefits, age-moderated performance expectations, and age-moderate effort expectations have a significant effect on behavioral intentions, while performance expectations, facilitation conditions, business expectations are moderated by experience and social influence.

Organisational Innovation Diffusion: the Case of Saudi Arabian Project-based Organisations

  • This paper aims to provide some unique insights into the verification of organisational innovation diffusion through empirically identifying the major factors determining the level of organisational innovation diffusion. The paper presents a two-stage sequential mixed method analysis: structural equation modelling analysis and regression analysis. A questionnaire survey was administrated to a sample of 223 organisations operating in Saudi Arabia. The results suggest that participative culture and, technology availability and implementation would intensify organisational climate for innovation. The results revealed compelling evidence in support of the moderating role of technology on the relationship between country socio-culture and organisational climate for innovation. Equally important, organisational innovation characteristics could play a crucial role in the intention to adopt a particular innovation. Specifically, maintaining Saudi Arabian top management's status quo is an obstacle to organisational innovation diffusion. This paper expands and improves upon the current understanding of how organisational innovation diffusion, in particular the Project Management Office (PMO), can be accelerated. By focusing on the critical factors within the conceptual model, the paper depicts the crucial role of certain factors that could leverage improved organisational innovation diffusion outcomes.

Factors Affecting the Stages of Behavioral Change of GMO Awareness and Interest in the Full Labeling System of University Students in Gyeongnam Area (경남지역 일부 대학생들의 GMO 인식 및 완전표시제 관심 행동변화단계에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study was conducted to find out the factors affecting the stages of behavioral change about GMO(n=202 university students). 52.0% of the respondents had no experience in GMO education, the stages of pre-contemplation and contemplation were 35.6% and 29.7%, respectively. Experience and awareness on GMO were the highest at 86.6% and 51.5%, respectively, and 55% of the respondents did not know about the implementation of the labeling system. Positive and negative perceptions on GMO score were 3.41 and 3.22, respectively. The need for the full labeling system of GM foods was 56.4%, the intention not to pay when the price rises due to the system was 70.8%. Regression analysis of factors affecting the stages of behavioral change showed health interest(t=2.10, p<0.05), educational experience(t=2.81, p<0.01), knowledge score(t=2.260, p<0.05), and negative perception(t=2.13, p<0.05). The results of this study suggest that in order to increase the stage of behavioral change in GMO, it is necessary to raise interest in health and knowledge and have the correct perception through GMO education

Study on the Application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act in Construction Sites and Practical Improvement Measures for Legal Deficiencies

  • This study analyzed the practical issues in the Serious Accident Punishment Act (SAPA) for construction sites and proposed measures to improve provisions that are detached from reality. The Act aims to prevent major accidents across various industries, with a particular emphasis on the construction sector. While the Act's intention is commendable, several significant legal flaws have emerged during its implementation. These issues were critically analyzed and strategic recommendations were proposed. Key issues include ambiguous legal definitions, the differential impact of the law on small and large businesses, and the increased administrative and managerial burdens. This study proposed specific measures to enhance the clarity of legal terminology and technology, balance the responsibilities between small and large businesses, and streamline administrative processes. Additionally, methods for effectively revising the regulations and reasonably complying with them on-site were proposed. By addressing these issues, we aim to improve the effectiveness of the law, ensure fair application, and ultimately create a safer working environment in the construction industry. The recommendations are expected to serve as valuable resources for future revisions and improvements to SAPA and contribute to the broader goal of sustainable industrial safety and development.
