An image coding technique based on a segmentation, which utilizes a simplified description of regions composing an image, is investigated in this paper. The proposed coding technique consists of 3 stages: segmentation, contour coding. In this paper, emphasis was given to texture coding in order to improve a quality of an image. Split-and-merge method was employed for a segmentation. In the texture coding, a linear predictive coding(LPC), along with approximation technique based on a two-dimensional polynomial function was used to encode texture components. Depending on a size of region and a mean square error between an original and a reconstructed image, appropriate texture coding techniques were determined. A computer simulation on natural images indicates that an acceptable image quality at a compression ratio as high as 15-25 could be obtained. In comparison with a discrete cosine transform coding technique, which is the most typical coding technique in the first-generation coding, the proposed scheme leads to a better quality at compression ratio higher than 15-20.

Improve the rural views of the Government and the municipalities with the intention of rural landscape planning. This paper has been studied a environment matting and compositing, which captures not just a foreground object and its traditional opacity matte from a real-world scene, but also a description of how that object refracts and reflects light. And then this paper has verified and implemented the image compositing system using environment matting method.

멀티미디어 데이터의 생산속도가 급증함에 따라 멀티미디어 데이터를 쉽고, 빠르며, 효율적으로 검색할 수 있는 방법이 필요하게 되었다. MPEG-7 표준화에 관련하여 영상의 특성추출, 기술(description), 검색엔진의 구성에 관련된 연구가 진행중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상의 여러 낮은 단계 특성을 추출하여, 이를 바탕으로 영상 분류를 통해 영상의 의미 정보를 얻는다. 분류를 통해 검색의 공간을 줄일 수 있었다. 그리고, 자바 애플릿을 이용하여 웹브라우저 상에서 스케치를 통한 검색을 함으로써, 보다 적극적인 검색이 가능하다.

이미지 색인은 이미지 정보로의 접근에 핵심적인 역할을 수행하는 부분으로 다양한 이미지 색인 방법 및 시스템이 이미지 정보의 종류에 따라 소개되어 왔다. 이미지 색인은 Panofsky의 정보의 단계별 색인에서 출발하여 시소러스, 분류체계, 이미지 기술요소, 범주화 방식 등을 이용하는 방식으로 발전하여 왔다. 이 연구는 Panofsky의 이미지 정보 중 이차 이미지 정보의 색인(iconographical analysis of image information)에 있어 이용자들을 대상으로 하여 그 객관성을 측정하고, 색인의 객관성과 관련된 이미지 기술요소들을 밝혀내고자 하였다. 이미지 속의 인물이나 물체 등 사실적이고 정형화된 일차 이미지 정보와는 대조적으로, 보다 주관적이고 해석적인 이차 이미지 정보의 예로 감정정보를 택하여 48명의 이용자들을 대상으로 2차에 걸친 실험을 하였다. 1차 실험에서는 같은 이미지 안에서 각각의 이용자들이 읽어내는 감정정보의 일치도를 측정하였고 2차 실험에서는 이용자들이 이미지 탐색 과정 중 검색된 이미지에 부여된 색인어에 대한 동의 정도를 통하여 색인의 객관성을 측정하였다. 1차와 2차 실험 결과는 이용자들이 같은 이미지에 대하여 다양한 해석을 내리고 있으며 주관적인 해석이나 개인차가 이차 이미지 정보의 색인에 영향을 미치는 요소로 작용하고 있음을 보여 주었다. 이 연구의 결과는 이차 이미지 정보에 대한 이용자들의 주관적인 반응을 수렴할 수 있는 색인 시스템이나 탐색기법에 대한 계속적인 연구 및 개발의 필요성을 강조하고 있다.

Steganography, which is popular as an image processing technology, is the art of using digital images to hide a secret message in such a way that its existence can only be discovered by the sender and the intended receiver. This technique has the advantage of concealing secret information in a cover medium without drawing attention to it, unlike cryptography, which tries to convert data into something messy or meaningless. In this paper, we propose two efficient least significant bit (LSB)-based steganography techniques for designing an image-based steganography system on chip using hardware description language (HDL). The proposed techniques manipulate the LSB plane of the cover image to embed text inside it. The output of these algorithms is a stego-image which has the same quality as that of the original image. We also implement the proposed techniques using the Altera field programmable gate array (FPGA) and Quartus II design software.

An image feature extraction method for the low contrast fluoresceln angiogram in dlabetes was studied. To obtain effective image segmentation, an adaptive local difference image is generated and relaxation process are applied to this difference Image. By the use of distance transformed data with segmented image, shape and location of feature regions were obtained. It was shown that the location and shape descriptions of Impaired blood vessel networks and retinal regions are can he utilized for the diagnosis of diabetes and other disease.

Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) is a main payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The MSC instrument has one(1) channel for panchromatic imaging and four(4) channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI CCD Focal Plane Array (FPA). The compression method on KOMPSAT-2 MSC was selected and used to match EOS input rate and PDTS output data rate on MSC image data chain. At once the MSC performance was carefully handled to minimize any degradation so that it was analyzed and restored in KGS(KOMPSAT Ground Station) during LEOP and Cal./Val.(Calibration and Validation) phase. In this paper, on-orbit image data chain in MSC and image data processing on KGS including general MSC description is briefly described. The influences on image performance between on-board compression algorithms and between performance restoration methods in ground station are analyzed and discussed.

The full-field digital mammography (FFDM), which has been known as a digital breast imaging system, carries out more outstanding performance than the screen-film mammography in overall image quality, skin & nipple, description of pectoral muscle and expression of micro-calcification. Thus, in this thesis, I perform experiments for both the enhancement of image quality and accurate estimation of the result in question, when detecting the very tiny-sized lesions in mammography. The image of digital breast X-rays is the important diagnostic tool for detecting early breast cancer and micro calcification lesion. The experiment of how much compression rate has an effect on the result of diagnosis in the case of microcalcification lesion, with JPEG2000 40:1 compression and over 50% enlargement led to obscure or definitely unacceptable diagnostic results is performed. And in another study of assessment of PSNR degree. I recognized the importance of standardized management system in mammography, where not to mention the accurate reading of the image has the most crucial role in diagnosis

이 글은 그레마스의 행위소 모형과 에니어그램 인물유형론을 적용하여 드라마 <미스터 션샤인>의 인물 유형을 분석하고 그 이미지텔링 방법을 고찰하려는 것이다. 한류 드라마가 중요한 콘텐츠가 되고 있는 오늘날 그 등장인물의 유형과 묘사방법에 관한 연구가 필요해진다. 드라마의 영향력에 있어서 인물은 핵심적 요소이기 때문이다. 인물 유형 분류를 위해 인물의 작중 내 역할에 주목하는 행위소 모형에 <미스터 션샤인>을 적용한 결과 주체는 유진 초이와 고애신, 원조자는 주체를 돕는 많은 이들, 대립자는 친일파 인물들, 발령자는 고종, 수령자는 조선의 국민들로 나타났다. 이를 인물 성격 유형인 에니어그램으로 분석한 결과 주체는 3, 5유형, 원조자는 다양한 유형, 대립자는 3유형, 발령자 5유형, 수령자 모든 유형이라는 결과가 도출되었다. 특정 역할, 특정 성격을 드라마에서 어떻게 이미지텔링하는가가 이 글의 또 다른 관건이었는데, <미스터 션샤인>의 경우 주체는 내레이터를 통한 내면 보이기, 서사 진행 등 자신을 설명하는 이미지텔링 방법을 사용했다. 원조자 일부, 발령자는 내면 보여주기의 이미지텔링 방법도 아울러 사용했다. 하지만 대립자는 간접적 보여주기로만 이미지텔링되었다. 이로써 드라마 인물 유형별 이미지텔링 방법상의 차이와 효과를 확인할 수 있었다.
