  • We propose a 4-bit 1.6GSample/s flash-A/D converter realized in a digital 0.18um 1-poly 4-metal CMOS technology. To achieve low power with good performance, we employ immanent C2MOS comparator scheme. The kickback noise is one of the most important issue in A/D comparator performance. To decrease the effect of kickback noise, here we introduce kickback neutralization technique. The designed A/D converter has an effective number of bits(ENOBs) of 3.93 while using 32mW operating at 1.6GHz.

  • Turbulent in-situ mixing process is a new material process technology to get dispersed phase in nanometer size by controlling reaction of liquid/liquid, liquid/solid and liquid/gas, flow and solidification speed simultaneously. In this study mixing, the key technology to this synthesis method will be studied by computational fluid dynamics. For the simulation of mixing of liquid metal, static mixers will be investigated. Two inlets for different liquid metal meet and merge like 'Y' shape tube. The tube has various shapes such as straight and curved. Also, the radius of curve will be varied. The performance of mixer will be evaluated with quantitative analysis with coefficient of variance of mass fraction. Also, detailed plots of intersection will be presented to understand effect of mixer shape on mixing.

  • Most material of engineering interest undergoes solidification process from liquid state. Identifying the underlying mechanism during solidification process is essential to determine the microstructure of material thus the physical properties of final product. In this paper, effect of fluid convection on the dendrite solidification morphology is studied using Level Contour Reconstruction Method. Sharp interface technique is used to implement correct boundary condition for moving solid interface. The results showed good agreement with exact boundary integral solution and compared well with other numerical techniques. Effects of Peclet number and undercooling on growth of dendrite tip of both single and multiple seeds have been also investigated.

  • A new CMOS transresistance amplifier for low-voltage analog integrated circuit design applications is presented. The proposed transresistance amplifier circuit based on common-source and negative feedback topology is compared with other recent reported transresistance amplifier. The proposed transresistance amplifier achieves high transresistance gain, gain-bandwidth with the same input/output impedance and the minimum supply voltage $2V_{DSAT}+V_T$. Hspice simulation using 1.8V TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology was performed and achieved $59dB{\Omega}$ transresistance gain which is above the maximum about $18dB{\Omega}$ compared to transresistance gain of the reported circuit.

Laminar Diffusion Flame in the Reacting Mixing Layer (반응혼합층의 층류확산화염)

  • Laminar flows in which mixing and chemical reactions take place between parallel streams of reactive species are studied numerically. The governing equations for laminar flows are from two-dimensional compressible boundary-layer equations. The chemistry is a finite rate single step irreversible reaction with Arrhenius kinetics. Ignition, premixed flame, and diffusion flame regimes are found to exist in the laminar reacting mixing layer at high activation energy. At high Mach numbers, ignition occurs earlier due to the higher temperatures in the unburnt gas. In diffusion regimes, property variations affect the laminar profiles considerably and need to be included when there are large temperature differences. The maximum temperature of a laminar reacting mixing layer is almost linear with the adiabatic flame temperature at low heat release, but only weakly at high heat release.

  • This paper investigates the linear stability of reacting mixing layers with special emphasis on the existence of multiple unstable modes. The governing equations for laminar flows are from two-dimensional compressible boundary-layer equations. The chemistry is a finite rate single step irreversible reaction with Arrhenius kinetics. For the incompressible reacintg mixing layer with variable density. A necessary condition for instability has been derived. The condition requires that the angular momentum, not the vorticity, to have a maximum in the flow domain. New inflectional modes of instability are found to exist in the outer part of the mixing layer. For the compressible reacting mixing layer, supersonic unstable modes may exist in the abscence of a generalized inflection point. The outer modes at high Mach numbers in the reacting mixing layer are continuations of the inflectional modes of low Mach number flows. However, the generalized inflection point is less important at supersonic flows.

Seed-borne Brachycladium penicillatum Intercepted under Plant Quarantine Inspection in Korea

  • A fungus detected from the importing seeds of Papaver rhoeas under plant quarantine inspection in Korea was identified as Brachycladium penicillatum Corda. It differed in morphological characteristics from a similar species, B. papaveris, which was known to form no macroconidiophores and no microsclerotia. Since the first interception in 2006, this fungus has frequently been found from importing seeds of Papaver spp. It was detected from 31 out of 282 seed consignments imported from 2006 to 2011. To prevent its introduction to Korea, the seed consignments infested by B. penicillatum were destroyed or reshipped.

  • 웹 상에서의 다양한 멀티미디어 지원에 있어 이들 미디어들은 서로 분리되어 있으며 정교한 프로그래밍 작업 없이는 다른 요소들과 상호작용하지 못했다. 1998년 6월 발표된 SMIL1.0은 다양한 멀티미디어들간의 상호작용을 가능하게 하였다. 지금까지의 웹기반 멀티미디어 동기화를 위해서는 DHTML이나 Plug-In 등의 부가적인 방법이 사용되어 왔으나 본 논문에서는 SMIL Timing과 Style Sheet 언어를 이용하여 내용중심 마크업 언어에서의 구현이 용이한 멀티미디어 동기화 표현의 방법을 제시하고 그 특징을 살펴본다. 그리고 이를 실험하기 위하여 마크업 언어의 하나인 HTML에 제안된 방법을 적용하였으며 자바언어의 쓰레드 기술과 JMF 기술을 이용하여 시간적으로 미디어간의 동기화가 지원되는 브라우저를 설계 및 구현한다.

  • In recent, the contactless IC card is widely used in traffic, access control system and so forth. And its use becomes a general tendency more and more because of the development of RF technology and improvement of requirement for user convenience. This paper describes the hardware module to process contactless protocol for implementation contactless IC card. And the hardware module consists of specific digital logic circuits that analyze digital signal from analog circuit and then generate data & status signal for CPU, and that convert the data from CPU into digital signal for analog circuit.
