  • Universities are open systems that aim to prepare students to meet academic and industrial programs' expectations. It is important for universities to recognize these expectations and to make sure that they are achievable. To do so, graduates' progression tracking system is an essential tool for universities' development to ensure graduate students meet the market requirements. The purpose of this paper is to create automatic tracing system that captures information about students after graduation and creates annual report that represents the status of university students in term of employment or completing their study. It mainly assists graduates to find appropriate jobs that meet their desires or enabling them to complete their higher education by providing all these opportunities in one platform. The system main objective is to improve communication between graduate students, the university and companies. It also aims to identify the difficulties associated with graduate employability and changes are required to serve current students in term of creating new programs or activities. This helps universities to identify and address the existing curriculums and program's strengths and weaknesses and their adequacy, quality and competencies of a graduate in the labor market, which enhances the quality of higher education. we analyzed and implemented the tracing system using PHP language, which speeds up custom web application development and MySQL database, which guarantee data security, high performance, and other features. Graduate students found the proposed system usable and valuable.

  • There exist many differences between new Informatics curriculum and the current Computer curriculum. Since the new curriculum introduces new section of "Problem-solving methods and procedures" which are not included in current computer curriculum, it is required to define and specify objectives and content units of "problem solving methods" and "programming" topics for the new section. In this paper, we define and specify the objectives and detailed contents by surveying various computer curriculums used in many other countries. Then, the specified objectives and content units are validated by a group of computer education experts. The final results of specified objectives show that areas of "comprehension", "application" and "synthesis" take relatively high percentage over the other areas. In the content specification, we set the content structure by describing how to solve a given real-world problem with a non-computerized way, followed by representing or transforming it with a corresponding computerized model.

  • Today, a computational thinking course is being introduced in elementary, secondary and higher education curriculums. It is important to encourage a creative talent built on convergence of computational thinking and various major fields. However, proper analysis and evaluation of computational thinking assessment tools in higher education are currently not sufficient. In this study, we developed a rubric to evaluate computational thinking skills in university class from two perspectives: conceptual learning and practical programming training. Moreover, learning achievement and relevance between theory and practice were assessed. The proposed rubric is based on Computational Thinking Practices for assessing the higher education curriculum, and it is defined as a two-level structure which consists of four categories and eight items. The proposed rubric has been applied to a liberal art class in university, and the results were discussed to make future improvements.

  • This study conducted a 15-week experiment on 236 students who took a major in engineering to find out the impact of learning through flipped learning on their academic performance. Previous flipped learning studies have largely been tested on learning motivation or learning satisfaction through questionnaires, and few have compared academic performance differences. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the increase and decrease in academic performance in the flipped learning classroom. Studies have shown significant differences that is a big difference between the academic performance of the experimental group appling flipped learning and the control group appling traditional lecture-style classes, and the academic performance of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. This can be said to have a positive effect on academic performance. Therefore, it is hoped that the flip learning method will be expanded in all curriculums.

  • This study suggests improvements for the effective operation of refresher courses by reviewing the target groups for each refresher course, the contents of these courses, the estimated number of delegates for each refresher course and the operation methods of training institutes overseas. Approximately 37,000 people need to complete the maritime safety refresher courses every 5 years. For the convenience of seafarers, it is necessary to reduce the land training by activating and standardizing on-board training recognized by the STCW Convention and promote investment in the training sector to continuously improve the seafarer safety training. It is also necessary to examine ways to improve the difference between the curriculums of the domestic refresher courses and the one of the STCW Convention. In addition, investments in the development of safety training facilities and virtual reality training programs are required in order to provide an environment where seafarers can take safety refresher courses in a timely manner.
