Phase Shift Controlled GM ZVS-MRC with Synchronous Rectifier (동기 정류기를 이용한 위상 변위 제어 클램프 모드 포워드 다중 공진형 컨버터)

  • To solve the low efficiency problem of low-voltage power supplies, it has been studied to replace the schottky barrier diode with the MOSFET synchronous rectifier. In this paper, Phase Shift-Controlled Clamp Mode Zero Voltage Switching-Multi Resonant Converter with Synchronous Rectifier (PSC CM ZVS-MRC with SR) is presented to achieve high efficiency in low-voltage power supplies. The characteristics analysis of synchronous rectifier is established by using the MOSFET equivalent circuit and efficiency comparison is established between the Synchronous Rectifier and the schottky barrier diode. To verify the validity of the analysis, 33W(3.3V, 10A) PSC CM ZVS-MRC with self-driven synchronous rectifier at switching frequency of 1MHz is designed and tested. And it is confirmed that the experimental results are well consistent with the theoretical results. The maximum efficiency of the converter is 83.4% at full load, which is 3.3% higher than conventional schottky diode rectification.

  • The purpose of this study is providing basic data to control the air pollutants from solid waste incinerator. Incinerating the waste wood, the electrostatic precipitator had the best collection efficiency. The leather incineration had the same collection efficiency as synthetic resin incineration. And the coarse particle collection efficiency was high. As you know in correlation of leather incineration. pollutants produced a from incinerator are mostly fine particles. If the scrubber used only in the process produced a lot of fine particles. It is adequate to use the above control devices, together with high efficiency collector like bag-filter. To select the adequate control devices, it is required to investigate the size distribution before establishing control devices.

  • Nowadays, many people are trying to develop eco-friendly engines such as the electric motor and the air engine because the I.C. engine cause a lot of pollutants. Nevertheless of these effort, there are few evaluation and comparison of these engines to conventionally used I.C. engines. Because of this, it is difficult to determine that the eco-friendly engines are really energy saving engines. In this paper, the efficiency of the air engine is calculated. The air engine does not cause environmental pollution problem because it uses "Compressed air". Due to the air engine operated at a low temperature and spark-free condition, this engine can be used in extreme condition for safety. Despite the many advantages of the air engine, there are few analysis on the air engine because of an air engine is low energy density.

  • We have suggested several plasma display panel (PDP) cell structures for high luminance and low power consumption by our two-and three-dimensional fluid simulation codes. Generally, to improve luminous efficiency and discharge efficiency, it is known that it is lucrative to use long discharge path and to form low electric field. However, the problems are how to implement them effectively in the small PDP cell. Therefore, unlike conventional model, we suggest Front Three Electrodes (FTE) model. In this model, we tried to make long and V-shaped discharge path by geometry changes and driving pulse variations. Consequently, from our simulation results based on the model above, luminous efficiency has improved about 2.6 times.

The Study of Photo-Luminescence on Willemite Phosphor (Willemite 형광체의 Photo-Luminescence 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Willemite phosphor is a good one having excellent luminescence efficiency that it;s emission wavelength is in the range of about 525 nm. The energy band gap of this willemite phosphor is about 4.1 eV. When the ratio of ZnO/SiO is 1.8 and Mncl in used as activator source the phosphor has the value of maximum luminescence efficiency. The characteristic of willemite phosphor is tendency of the dependence of temperature. The willemite which was fired with activator after being synthesized at initial firing without activator shows higher value of luminescence efficiency than willemite which was fired with activator in initial stage, When the concentration of activator is 1-1.5mol% it has its most favorite condition and the value of luminescence efficiency decreases according to increasement of activator concentration.

  • Jet pump is one type of artificial lifts and is used when depth and deviation of producing wells increases and pressure depletion occurs. In the present study, numerical analysis has been carried out to analyze the flow behavior and find the performance of the jet pump. Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes equations were solved and k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used for simulations. Water and light oil as primary fluids were used to pump water, light oil and heavy oil. The ratios of area and length to diameter of the mixing tube were considered as design parameters. The pump efficiency was considered to maximize for the downhole conditions. It was found that the increase in viscosity and density of the secondary fluid reduced efficiency of the system. Water as primary fluid produced better efficiency than the light oil. It was also found that the longer throat length increased efficiency upto 40% if light oil was used as primary fluid and secondary fluid viscosity was 350 cSt.

  • Recently, the study of energy saving technology of ships begins in earnest, as energy saving policies are performed all around the world. SEMS (Ship Energy Management System) is one of the techniques to increase energy efficiency by applying to a independent system like a ship and offshore. SEMS is composed of Cooling Pump Control System (CPCS), Renewable Energy Emergency Power Control System (REEPCS), Load Control System (LCS), and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System (HVACS). SEMS is enable to increase energy efficiency and achieve integrated management through the interlocking of each system. Especially, it is possible to improve the flexibility of the selection of the generator capacity in conjunction with a rechargeable battery and renewable energy. In this paper, SEMS applied rechargeable battery is proposed and simulated. By applying the rechargeable battery, it was confirmed that SEMS applied rechargeable battery can be operated at optimum efficiency of the generator.

  • As a result of study on factor affecting absorption efficiency using the structured packing, Mellapak N. 250Y for the chemical absorption of $CO_2$ that cause global warming due to development of industry, it is shown that Mellapak N. 250Y has lower pressure drop and superior efficiency of mass transfer than 25mm Pall ring. Also, in the absorption process, it produces high efficiency in the increase of load and concentration of absorption liquid and produces low efficiency in the increase of temperature. In the effect of overall mass transfer coefficient for 15% MEA on the temperature variation of absorbent, when absorbent temperature for 15% MEA varied as 25, 50, $80^{\circ}C$, overall mass transfer coefficients were shown as 0.83, 1.00, $0.90kmol/m^3-h-kPa$.

  • It was reported by some researchers that two-stage parallel-plate ESPs, commonly called electronic air cleaners, show decreasing behavior of collection efficiency as particle size decreases below about $0.03{\mu}m$. This phenomenon is attributed to partial particle charging characteristics, where some of incoming particles are not charged in the charging cell of 2-stage parallel-plate ESP. One way to improve the decreasing collection efficieny in that particle size range is to enforce particle charging quantity in the charging cell. In the present study, in order to do this a 2-wire series-type charging cell modified from a 1-wire normal-type one was suggested and investigated theoretically and experimentally concerning improvement of the collection efficiency. It was confirmed from the experimental and theoretical works that the collection efficiency was apparently improved.

Development of a Highly Efficient Boiler System Using a Diesel Engine

  • We have developed a highly efficient boiler system using the 2,600cc Diesel engine. In this system, the co-generation concept is utilized in that the electric power is produced by the generator connected to the engine, and waste heat is recovered from both the exhaust gases and the engine itself by the shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The heat exchanger connected to the engine outlet is specially designed such that it not only recovers waste heat effectively from the exhaust gases, but significantly reduces an engine noise. It is found that the total efficiency(thermal efficiency plus electric power generation efficiency) of this system reaches maximum 96.3% which is about 15% higher than the typical Diesel engine boiler system currently being used worldwide.
