  • ATM is the transport method for the broadband integrated services digital networks(B-ISDN). It may replace existing LAN, MAN and WAN technologies such as CSMA/CD, FDDI, Frame relay, X.25, etc. But it is more complicate than existing network technologies. One of the main difficulties in ATM network is performance management. Specifically, the problems are evaluating the performance and tuning the values of the performance parameters, The goal of this paper is to introduce a system architecture designed for ATM network performance management, The major ingredients of the system are generic performance parameters In be measured from ATM network, performance evaluation models and decision criteria concerning the network performance. In this paper, general requirements for performance management application in ATM network are discussed.

  • In business-to-business setting, dyadic relationships between firms are of paramount interest. Recent developments in business practice strongly suggest that to understand these business relationships, greater attention must be directed to the embedded context within which dyadic business relationships take place. As a result, it is important to develop an understanding which is to move from dyadic business relationship to business networks. The purpose of the current study is (1) to identify types of network benefits: information acquisition, access to tangible resources, cooperative support from network members, (2) to model network benefit efforts on a customer orientation for customer firm, (3) to examine the relationship between network characteristics and network benefits. Adopting resource-based view and social capital theory, the conceptual model is proposed. In order to develop and test a model, this paper was empirically to examine how network characteristics can reinforce network benefits leading to focal firm's customer orientation using 123 firms. Through structural equation modeling, this research found that (1) density influences information acquisition, access to tangible resources, cooperative support from network members, (2) centrality increases information acquisition, access to tangible resources. We also find that information acquisition, access to tangible resources, cooperative support from network members enhances focal firm's customer orientation. Finally, We discuss several theoretical and practical implications, and suggest limitations for the research and future research issue.

According to the results, the environmental awareness of the company and competition threats within the industry did not significantly affect the establishment of environmental strategy, whereas the consumer's sensitivity to the environment and the environmental regulation of the government did. The environmental awareness of the company and the consumer's sensitivity to the environment were found to greatly impact a company's network building. which is closely related with the utilization of multimedia system and technology. In addition, it was found that the establishment of corporate environmental strategy had a significant effect on network building and strategic learning, but network building did not significantly affect strategic learning, indicating a difference. Finally, corporate strategic learning affected environmental management performance, suggesting an importance in accumulating strategic learning capabilities to increase environmental management performance.

  • Concerns about food safety continue to rise and under this situation, governments of some countries have reinforced their regulations more strictly for food safety. In order to prevent food safety incidents or, at least to minimize the impact, the preparedness is very important. As a consequence of this, traceability system has become an essential tool for food safety. Recently, it requires more prevention-based food safety control system. One of the most generally used systems for food safety control is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). Both traceability and HACCP systems can be integrated through Electronic Product Code (EPC) Sensor Network technologies which have four value propositions. In this paper, we will introduce the concept of product and process traceability system (P2TS) through the integration of three systems to improve food safety management. The final aim is to find out the added values of the P2TS.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve awareness of network marketing business in South Korea, which takes a quite negative view of network marketing, to raise awareness of "starting up a business" as independent business owners, to assist them in building their own subjecthood in network business and entrepreneurial identity, and ultimately to give some suggestions on how to improve their self-directed entrepreneurial competency and the quality of their business management. To make an empirical analysis of 121 independent business owners of Korean native network marketing, the personal and background variables of the entrepreneurs were selected as independent variables, and entrepreneurship was selected as a mediator variable. The selected dependent variables were financial and non-financial business performances. A multiple regression analysis was conducted by inputting the variables. The findings of the study were as follows: It produced an effect of more financial performance when the innovation of the independent business owners of network marketing was better, and this innovation was possible to have only when they improved in entrepreneurial efficacy and locus of control. In contrast, only authenticity had an effect on boosting non-financial business performance among the factors of entrepreneurship. To have authenticity, it's necessary to strengthen achievement needs and awareness of locus of control among the personal characteristics of the independent business owners of network marketing. Among the factors of entrepreneurship, there was better authenticity when their personal networks were broader among their background characteristics. In addition, self-efficacy that was one of personal characteristics made a direct contribution to the enhancement of non-financial performance. As a result, independent business owners of network marketing are required to hold a strong belief in their own business, to be active in business activities and to have a high efficacy as spontaneous principal agents, and they also are required to have more adventurous, planned, active and propulsive achievement needs that enable them to attain the goals of their business and keep moving forward. Besides, they should foster their locus-of-control competency that is to control, endure and be responsible for a variety of phenomena or incidents that they face, and there will be better financial performance or non-financial performance only when they demonstrate their self-belief and confidence and when they have faith in and conviction about themselves. For independent business owners of network marketing, a consumer-centered thinking that entails authenticity and trustworthiness and touches the hearts of customers is a more effective marketing strategy than an egocentric thinking as sellers when they approach customers. And they are expected to make progress in terms of the quality of business management when their business attachment or enthusiasm is great enough to match their own efficacy with entrepreneurial identity or strike a balance between them.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the correlation between network and firm's performance by analyzing the perception and characteristics of network of business founder and investor from the perspective of the network. We selected a TIPS support program which is evaluated to be a best practice as a research target for empirical analysis. The empirical results using social network and statistical analysis, shows that the stronger the investor's network connectivity, the more likely it is that the investor's start - up succeeds in attracting subsequent investment. In addition, both the entrepreneurial team and the management think that the internal human network between the enterprise and the investor plays an important role in inducing investment or exploring the company, and recognizes that the value of the human network will have a significant influence on the enterprise value evaluation or investment decision.

  • Virtuality is a product of the information age, and as it plays a larger role in the activities of individuals, groups and organizations, the issue of how human behavior varies between virtual and physical space has become one of the most important questions facing the management environment of today. The purpose of this article is to examine how virtuality shapes individuals' social relationships within and outside their work groups. We developed a conceptual framework that explores the links between virtuality and social network based on computer-mediated communication theory and social network theory. Using data from 172 individuals of 42 project teams in 5 global business consulting firms, we tested cross-level hypotheses. The results of hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) indicate that virtuality significantly influences individual's internal tie strength as well as external bridging ties. The results also show the effects of virtual process via CMC vary along with the virtual context.
