  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically verify an ePortfolio success model which shows the structural causal relationships among the basic modeling constructs. We developed the success model based on DeLone and Mclean(2003) from IS perspective and on Balaban et al(2013) from ePortfolio perspective. And we are focused on the success of ePortfolio system designed for college students and professors. Design/methodology/approach Structural equation modeling techniques were applied to data collected 375 users of the ePortfolio system, K-Folio, at least one semester during one academic year. The structural model was analyzed using a Lisrel 8.54 statistical program. Findings The followings are the findings of the study. First, the constructs of IS success model are well applied to ePortfolio for college education. Second, the proposed model which has direct causal relationships from ePortfolio's quality to performance is more significant than the D&M and Balaban's model(2013). Third, the information quality among ePortfolio quality constructs does not have effect on system usability and performance. It means that information contents' quality issued by professor or system manager is not satisfied with the students yet. Finally, by using indirect analysis of structural equation model, we found that the ePortfolio operation manager should focus on ensuring system maintenance activities and providing fast and accurate services for improving ePortfolio performance.

  • Recently, Korean economy is boosted by the active introduction of many venture businesses full of entrepreneurship. It has been widely accepted implicitly that success of the venture business originates from unique style of knowledge management. This assumption looks natural when we consider the fact that success of the venture business heavily depends on differentiated intelligent asset or knowledge. However, such implicit belief has never been tested empirically. To fill the research void like this, this paper proposes an empirical derivation of key success factors from the venture businesses listed in KOSDAQ. To add rigor to our results, we performed regression analysis by using the derived key success factors as independent variables, and introducing organization efficiency, job satisfaction, and accomplishment motivation as dependent variables. Regression results showed that our approach is justified from the statistical perspective.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify Six Sigma success factors and analyse the effects of Six Sigma success factors and innovation capability on innovation performance. Methods: The study build a research framework which include the variables of Six Sigma success factors, innovation capability, and innovation performance. A sample of 127 survey questionnaires is taken to test the proposal theoretical model through structural equations modeling using AMOS 20.0. Results: This study proves that there are the positive relationship between Six Sigma success factors, innovation capability, and innovation performance. It also confirms that there are the partial mediating effects of innovation capability between Six Sigma success factors and innovation performance. Conclusion: There are various factors affecting innovation performance of firms. This study provide the mechanism transformed from Sig Sigma to innovation performance.

  • The performance of Cellular Manufacturing (CM) systems has been rigorously investigated during the last two decades, but the extent of empirical research on CM is limited. A major objective of this study is to examine the relationship between critical success factors, employees' implementation attitudes and performance of CM systems. Two hypothesis were formulated &d Tested: (1) The impact of critical success factors on performance and to what extent does certain critical success factors correlate with performance\ulcorner (2) How does the relationship between critical success factors and performance differ by employees' implementation attitudes\ulcorner Results from the study provide partial support for relationship between critical success factors (infrastructure, organizational immersion, autonomous management) and performance. The results also show that differences in performance of organizations grouped by degree of employees' attitudes could be found.

  • Forecasting probability or likelihood of technology development success has been a crucial factor for critical decisions in technology management such as R&D project selection and go or no-go decision of new product development (NPD) projects. This paper proposes an analytic network process (ANP) approach to forecasting of technology development success. Reviewing literature on factors affecting technology development success has constructed the ANP model composed of four criteria clusters : R&D characteristics, R&D competency, technological characteristics, and technological environment. An alternative cluster comprised of two elements, success and failure is also included in the model. The working of the proposed approach is provided with the help of a case study example of MRAM (magnetic random access memory) technology.

  • We wanted to show the different group dynamics of factors for success and failure cases for technology commercialization in small technology-based firms. Existing studies are based on product level, project level, division level or firm level. We deal with technology level, and at small-technology-based firms. This is a longitudinal case study based on 8 cases from Korea. Our study on technology level is a first trial in success and failure studies unlike all existing studies. As a first step, we introduced new categories and factors such as technology attributes and CEO reflecting data, and especially a new concept of launch readiness level. Finally, we adopted correspondence analysis to show the group dynamics. The results are as follows; Technology factors are the most important factors. Second, resource-based factors are more critical in failure cases than success cases and technology factors are more critical to success.

  • This study empirically examined the effects of data warehousing methodology on the success of data warehousing. Research model and two hypotheses were set up to identify the relationships among two types of data warehousing methodology(top-down/bottom-up, dw configuration) and success based on the investigations of such theories as data warehousing, data warehousing methodology, IS success and so forth. And the survey instrument(questionnaire) was developed to collect data. Ultimately 183 questionnaires from 61 korean firms were collected. Findings showed that two types of data warehousing methodology affect significant effect on the success of data warehousing.

  • The overall objective of this study is to empirically investigate organizational/managerial factors affecting system development team operation. The contributions of this research project are two-fold. First, this study examined various organizational/managerial factors that made team operation successful. Second, we presented the key success factors among the identified success factors of team operation. A field investigation of 68 system development teams located around YoungNam area indicates that motivation, leadership and egalitarian team culture are success factors of team operation. Especially, key success factors are leadership and egalitarian team culture.

  • Software Process Improvement(SPI) becomes an important issue at software quality. A research model is suggested on the basis of previous literature. The model includes success factors for SPI as independent variables and CMM levels as mediating variables, and defines organizational performance as dependent variables. This study basically investigates causational relationships among SPI success factors, CMM levels, and organizational performance through a structured equation model. A LISREL v8.72 for windows is used for statistical analysis. Even through success factors for SPI partially influences the CMM level, the CMM level is fully related to the level of organizational performance. The results show that the success factor for SPI in Korean companies are not equal to the factors abroad, but indicate that the CMM level is closely related to the organizational performance. These results will be helpful to academicians as well as to practitioners.

  • Based on the diffusion of innovation paradigm, this study conceptualizes the constituent components (3P) and the growth stages (6C) for knowledge management. It is critical for knowledge management efforts to identify 'where we are' and decide 'where to go' and then to manage 'how to go'. As a framework for the success of knowledge management, the 3P6C model is intended to systematically guide these efforts toward knowledge asset management and implementation, for knowledge productivity. This model is illustratively applied to such success stories as in Skandia, Buchman Lab and Hall Mark Cards. Such applications of this model show that they have been through such prior activities required in the earlier stages, and thattechnological platform is just one of the 3 key components working as an enabler, implying together the existence of growth path in KM success. Provided in the appendix are a set of exemplary scenarios in knowledge management practice for growth stage assessment.
