공급자 관점에서 정보시스템 개발 프로젝트의 범위관리활동이 프로세스성과와 결과물성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (The Effects of Scope Management on Process Performance and Output Performance in the Information System Development Project : An Analysis from Project Supplier's Perspective)

  • Even though the success of the information system (IS) protect becomes a critical issue to an enterprise and there has been a lot of research about finding critical success factors of IS projects, the scope management for the success of IS protect has received little attention in the literature. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of the project scope management activities defined by PMI (Project Management Institute) on the performance of the information system project. The focus of this paper is on the project supplier's point of view. This study shows the priority of the scope management activities during the IS Project. The results show the different results depending on the types of the project clients and the project scale. This research reveals that the scope verification is important for the project supplier from the project process view, and that the scope planning/definition is important for the protect client from the project result view. It also shows different results comparing to the conventional recognition about project success. The research results show that the positive relationships between the project scale and the importance of scope management activities, and between the familiarity of suppliers and clients and the importance of the scope management activities. Through this research, we expect that the importance of the scope management in a project will be considered as an important issue, and that this research will lead to various detailed research about this issue.

THE IDENTIFICATION OF MALAYSIAN CONTRACTOR SATISFACTION DIMENSIONS: A STRATEGY FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • The unique characteristics of the construction industry - such as the fragmentation of its processes, varied scope of works and diversity of its participants - are contributory factors to poor project performance. Several issues are unresolved due to the lack of a comprehensive technique to measure project outcomes including: inefficient decision making, insufficient communication, uncertain site conditions, a continuously changing environment, inharmonious working relationships, mismatched objectives within the project team and a blame culture. One approach to overcoming these problems appears to be to measure performance by gauging contractor satisfaction (Co-S) levels, but this has not been widely investigated as yet. Additionally, the key Co-S dimensions at the project level are still not fully identified. This paper concerns a study of satisfaction dimensions, primarily by a postal questionnaire survey of construction contractors registered by the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Eight satisfaction dimensions are identified that are significantly and substantially relate to these contractors - comprising: project cost performance, schedule performance, product performance, design satisfaction, site safety, project profitability, business performance and relationships between participants. -Each of these dimensions is accorded different priority levels of satisfaction by different contractors. The output of this study will be useful in raising the awareness and understanding of project teams regarding contractors' needs, mutual objectives and open communication to help to deliver a successful project.

프로젝트 상급자 특성이 프로젝트관리자의 보고 성향과 시스템 개발성과에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Senior Managers' Characteristics on Project Manager's Reporting Tendencies and Information Systems Development Performance)

  • This study explores the reporting tendencies of project managers when sending a status reports to their respective senior managers in information systems development project. It also examines the effect of selective reporting on report quality and systems development performance. The research model is proposed based on literature survey as well as key points from Iacovou et al. [2009] which is an extension of selective reporting in information systems project. Analysis of responses from 257 project managers in information systems industry indicates that pessimistic reporting by project managers has negative effect on both report quality (mediator variable) and systems development performance, while optimistic reporting has no significant effect on systems development performance. The CEO interest has an impact on the senior manager's power, which in turn leads to optimistic reporting by project managers. The senior manager's character has an impact on the senior manager's leadership, which in turn leads to pessimistic reporting. No direct relationship exists either between CEO interest and optimistic reporting or between senior manager's character and pessimistic reporting. In addition, trust toward the senior managers is significantly related to pessimistic reporting. Finally, report tendencies are also found to be affected by the active/passive characteristics of project managers.

  • Cost overrun or schedule delay of the software development project happens frequently despite that software developers continue to make every effort for the effective management of the projects. Previous researches have ascertained that these problems are ascribed to the uncertainty of projects and the improper management of the projects. The purposes of this research are to investigate the impacts of user participation and task interdependence on the performance of the projects and also to find out the appropriate project management method to improve the project performance. Even though the model fitness of the path model is proved to be very high, the verification of the hypotheses showed a variety of results including the four verifications and the one refutation of the hypotheses as well as the suggestion of one alternative hypothesis. The contribution of this research is that the integration model is proposed and verified, comprising the relationship among the user participation, the task interdependence, and the performance of software development projects. A project manager can utilize the implication of this research for an effective management of software development project.

  • 건설 프로젝트의 대형화, 복잡화에 따라 경쟁력 확보를 위하여 비효율성을 제거하고 합리적인 관리전략 수립을 위한 프로젝트 성과측정의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 따라서 프로젝트의 성공에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 진행되었으나 이러한 성공요인은 프로젝트 시공자가 성과 증진을 위하여 실행하는 관리방법과 개선할 수 없이 받아 들어야 하는 프로젝트 고유의 특성이 혼재되어 있어 측정된 성과 자료를 벤치마킹하는데 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 프로젝트의 성과에는 영향을 미치지만 시공자가 개선할 수 없는 요인을 프로젝트 특성으로 정의, 분류하였으며, 특성에 따른 성과증진에 어려움 정도를 프로젝트 관리 실무자 조사를 통하여 정량적으로 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 도출한 프로젝트 성과 난이도 지수로 프로젝트 초기단계의 프로젝트 특성 정보를 활용한 프로젝트 수행의 어려움 정도를 예측할 수 있으며, 프로젝트 시공자의 효율적인 프로젝트 관리를 가능하게 할 것이다.

  • The performance of the construction project is to be evaluated within 60 days of completion, according to relevant laws. It evaluates cost, construction period, design change, re-construction, safety, etc. for each project stage. And the project owners are inputting the evaluation results of the construction work into the construction project information system(CALS). The post-evaluation result information entered in this way can be referred to in the basic design of the construction project by referring to the related contents if there is a similar construction in the future. And It can also be used to predict and respond to the required period and cost by analyzing the accumulated data. In this study, in order to provide reference data that can be used in similar projects in the future, the latest analysis methods are reviewed and the possibility of future application is considered. Accordingly, this study intends to focus on the construction cost part among the indicators such as construction cost, construction period, design change, and re-construction that are currently being dealt with in post evaluation.

  • 건설산업의 핵심성과는 프로젝트가 추구하는 목표, 즉, 비용, 시간, 품질, 안전, 환경 등의 기준을 어느 정도 달성했는지로 평가할수 있다. 그러나, 프로젝트 기반산업이라고 할 수 있는 건설산업의 경우, 성과에 대한 명확한 정의체계가 부재하고, 성과측정에 대한 표준화된 절차와 관리 방식이 구축되어 있지 않아서 프로젝트의 성과를 객관적이고 합리적으로 평가하기가 매우 어려운 것이 현실이다. 본 연구에서는 프로젝트 차원의 성과에 대한 정의 및 기준을 설정하고, 각 성과기준 댈 지표 산출 방식을 개발한 후, 이들 지표를 통해 정량적으로 프로젝트의 성과를 산출할 수 있는 방법론을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 성과측정 방법론에 입각하여, 실제 사례 프로젝트를 수집하고, 이들을 비교 분석해 봄으로써, 향후 건설 프로젝트에 적용가능 한지에 대한 평가를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 특정한 건설 프로젝트는 상호 비교가능한 지표의 형태로 변환될 수 있으며, 개별프로젝트의 성과를 종합적으로 분석하는 것이 가능해진다. 또한, 건설 프로젝트 관련자로 하여금 성과에 입각한 관리를 가능하도록 유도하여 건설 프로젝트의 효율성을 진작시키는데 큰 역할을 담당할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

특성화고의 태양광 추적 제어 시스템 개발 프로젝트법이 학습자의 과제 수행 능력에 미치는 효과 (The Effect on Task Performance Ability of Project Method to Develop Solar Tracking Control System in Specialized High School)

  • The purpose of this study was to verity the effect of project method on the task performance ability in development of a solar-tracking-control-system of specialized high school. In order to carry out this study, 2 classes of technical high school in Jeonbuk are chosen as experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by project method and the control group was taught by traditional instruction. Project method was designed by 4 stages-selection of goal, planning, implementation and evaluation. According to these stages, experimental group's students carried out the project that developing solar tracking control system in solar generation. The results of this study are as follows; the project method was more effective than the traditional instruction in planning ability for task performance and implementation ability, subordinates of task performance ability. However, information gathering ability and evaluation ability on task performance, others in subordinates, it is not clear that the project method is more effective.

프로젝트 거버넌스의 구성요인들이 IT 프로젝트 목표 성과에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Project Governance Factors on IT Project Objectives Performance)

  • Companies are paying attention to project governance to realize their goal strategies, project success, and project value in a rapid and complex environment due to the development of information technology. This study aims to explore project governance and factors from literature review and practice guides related to project governance and empirically analyze the impact of project governance factors on IT project objective performance. The survey was conducted on project managers, project team members, and project management members with experience in carrying out business IT projects within two years at companies in various industries in Korea. The main conclusion is as follows. Among the project governance factors, disclosure and reporting that uses and reports using appropriate and reliable information about projects related to decision-making activities positively impact the achievement of IT project objectives: business success and stakeholder satisfaction. Among the project governance factors, project sponsorship, a role that effectively connects management and projects, and a project management framework that provides tools, procedures, resources, and techniques for projects positively impact IT project objective performance. This study is of academic and practical significance in that it identifies the definition and factors of project governance through companies in various industries in Korea and the positive impact of project governance factors on IT project objective performance.

프로젝트의 신규성 정도가 프로젝트 관리방식과 성과간의 관계에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Project Newness on the Relationship between Project Management Styles and Performance)

  • 프로젝트 성과에 중요한 영향을 미치는 관리방식과 프로젝트 성과간의 관계에 대해서는 지금까지 지속적으로 연구가 진행되고 있다. 최근의 연구들은 프로젝트의 특성에 따라 프로젝트 관리 방식이 달라져야 하며, 프로젝트 관리방식과 프로젝트 성과간의 관계도 프로젝트 특성에 따라 상이할 수 있음을 주장한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 프로젝트 특성이 프로젝트 관리방식과 프로젝트 성과간의 관계에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대한 연구는 부족한 편이다. 본 연구에서는 프로젝트 관리방식들(팀 자율성, 내부/외부 커뮤니케이션, 개인주의 지향성)이 프로젝트 특성인 프로젝트의 신규성 정도에 따라 프로젝트 성과에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 실증분석은 과학기술계 정부출연연구소에 속한 78개 R&D 프로젝트팀을 대상으로 하였다. 분석결과 프로젝트의 신규성 정도가 높을수록 팀 자율성은 프로젝트 성과에 더욱 긍정적인 관계를 보였다. 또한 프로젝트의 신규성 정도가 높을수록 내부 커뮤니케이션은 성과에 더욱 긍정적이지만 외부 커뮤니케이션은 더욱 부정적으로 나타났다.
