(사)한국패키지디자인협회는 2월 23일 코리아디자인센터에서 열린 정기총회에서 임종웅 협회 상임이사를 만장일치 신임회장으로 추대했다. 현재 (주)INA 커뮤니케이션 대표이사와 홍익대학교 시각디자인과 및 대학원 강사로 재직중인 임종웅 회장은 지난 1993년부터 1996년까지 패키지 디자인협회장을 역임한 바 있어 관심이 집중되고 있다. 협회의 분위기 쇄신과 회원들간의 단합을 기대하는 회원들의 뜻에 따라 회장으로 추대된 임종웅 회장을 만나, 향후 협회 운영 계획을 들어보았다.

One of the major challenges confronting a multiservice electric utility is the establishment of the right prices, for its services. The key objectives of particular pricing schemes are reasonableness of company earnings. Economic efficiency, the responsiveness of supply and of the allocation of sources to the desires of consumers, and maintenance of some degree of competition. This paper proposes a value-based pricing mechanism amenable to the current deregulation situation in electricity market allowing service differentiation. The proposed pricing mechanism can be implemented ina nodal auction model, and can also be applied to direct load control.

In September 1996 I spent 8 days in Kamchatka Oblast of Silberia, speaking at the institute of Volcanic Geology and Geochemistry in Petropavlovsk and participating ina field excursion to the 1740 and 1975 lava beds of Tolbachik volcano. By international standards, the caves of these flows are small. But recently it has appeared that variations in chemistry and gas content of pahoehoe basalts makes profound variations in their lava tube caves. Thus it is important to look at as many speleoliferous regions as possible. This trend continued at Tolbachik.(omitted)

Spirulina produces $\gamma$-linolenic acid (GLA), an important pharmaceutical substance, in a relatively low level compared with fungi and plants, prompting more research to improve its GLA yield. In this study, metabolic flux analysis was applied to determine the cellular metabolic flux distributions in the GLA synthetic pathways of two Spiru/ina strains, wild type BP and a high­GLA producing mutant Z19/2. Simplified pathways involving the GLA synthesis of S. platensis formulated comprise of photosynthesis, gluconeogenesis, the pentose phosphate pathway, the anaplerotic pathway, the tricarboxylic cycle, the GLA synthesis pathway, and the biomass syn­thesis pathway. A stoichiometric model reflecting these pathways contains 17 intermediates and 22 reactions. Three fluxes - the bicarbonate (C-source) uptake rate, the specific growth rate, and the GLA synthesis rate - were measured and the remaining fluxes were calculated using lin­ear optimization. The calculation showed that the flux through the reaction converting acetyl­CoA into malonyl-CoA in the mutant strain was nearly three times higher than that in the wild­type strain. This finding implies that this reaction is rate controlling. This suggestion was sup­ported by experiments, in which the stimulating factors for this reaction $(NADPH\;and\;MgCl_{2})$ were added into the culture medium, resulting in an increased GLA-synthesis rate in the wild type strain.

Isolation, indentification, bioassay and distribution of ice nucleation active(INA) bacteria were done on branch rot of mulberry which was severely developed after harvest of mulberry branches in autumn. Twelve isolates and two isolates out of thirty-six isolates had ice nucleation activity from -5$^{\circ}C$ to -1$0^{\circ}C$, and over -5$^{\circ}C$, respercively. Isolates which formed ice nucleation from -5$^{\circ}C$ to -1$0^{\circ}C$ were not inclined to injure tomato and corn seedlings. However, Two isolates, SE9316 and SE9338 which formed ice nucleation over -5$^{\circ}C$ injured mulberry, tomato and corn seedlings. SE9316 and SE9338 were identified as Pseudomonas syringae based on the morphological, cultural and biochemical characteristics. Populations of ice nucleation active bacteria, fluorecent pseudomonads, were higer in February and April, but they decreased in May. Populations decreased as they become distant from the center of the symptom. The bacterial populations of all sampling times and sites were higer than 105 cfu/g which was enough to induce frost injury.

Aloe(Aloe vera LINNE) has been used as a home medicine for the past several thousand in the world, and has been studied on various chronic degenerative diseases such as atherosclerosis, myocardiac infarction and hypertension. SMAP8, learning and memory impairment animal mode, were fed basic or experimental diets with 1.0% of freeze dried(FD)-Aloe powder for 8 months. This study was designed to investigate the effects of Aloe on body weight gain, grading score of senescence(GSS), triglyceride, total and LDL-cholesterol levels, and atherogenic index in serum of SAMP8, and also designed to investigate the effects of Aloe on cholesterol accumultions in mitochondria and microsome fractions of SAMP8 brain. Body weight gain was consistently lower in aloe group than in control group, but no significantly differences between them. Grading score of senescence resulted ina marked decreases pf 20% in 1.0% Aloe group compared with control group. Administrations of 1.0% aloe resulted ina marked decreases in 15% and 20% of triglyceride and cholesterol levels, respectively, and also significantly decreased in 15% of LDL-cholesterol levels and atherogenic index in serum of SAMP8 compared with control group. Cholesterol accumulations were significantly inhibited in 20% and 10% of mitochondria and microsome fractions of SAMP8 brain, respectively, by administration of 1.0% Aloe. These results suggest that administration of Aloe mau not only effectively inhibit chronic degenerative diseases in serum of SAMP8, but may also improve learning and memory impairments of SAMP8 brain.

A wideband RF receiver for satellite mobile communications system was fabricated and evaluated of performance in low noise amplifier and high gain amplifier. The low noise amplifier used to the resistive decoupling and self-bias circuits. The low noise amplifier is fabricated with both the RF circuits and the self-bias circuits. Using a INA-03184, the high gain amplifier consists of matched amplifier type. The active bias circuitry can be used to provide temperature stability without requiring the large voltage drop or relatively high-dissipated power needed with a bias stabilized resistor. The bandpass filter was used to reduce a spurious level. As a result, the characteristics of the receiver implemented here show more than 55 dB in gain, 50.83 dBc in a spurious level and less than 1.8 : 1 in input and output voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR), especially the carrier to noise ratio is a 43.15 dB/Hz at a 1 KHz from 1537.5 MHz.

The nitrate concentrations in PM$_{2.5}$ and TSP measured at Gosan, Jeju Island, Korea, between March 1998 and February 2002, are discussed. Especially, the characteristics of high nitrate concentration days were analyzed. High nitrate concentration cases in PM$_{2.5}$ were highly correlated with anthropogenic species such as NH$_4$$^{[-10]}$ , and high nitrate concentration cases in TSP were highly correlated with crustal species such as nss-Ca$^{2+}$ and nss -Mg$^{2+}$ Backward trajectory analysis results show the cases of high correlation between nitrate and anthropogenic species occurred when the air parcels moved from China, and the cases of high correlation between nitrate and crustal species occurred when the air parcels moved from Mongolia. Also, high nitrate concentration cases occurred most often in spring (65%) when the air parcels moved from Mongolia and China.ina.

In this paper, we show an optimal structure of impedance control in high density layouts ina high multilayers PCB. The impedance control in a high multilayers FR-4 PCB is very portant isue because a dielectric layer's thickness is very thin. Especially, odd mode impedance control is more difficult than characteristic impedance control in high multilayers PCB. So, we show an optimal structure of odd mode impedance control in that dielectric thickness is about 0.1mm with limited state and discuss multilayers PCB's for swich circuti pack and backplane in developing algorith scale ATM witching system in next time.
