Saccharomyces cerevisiae의 감수분열 특이적 Protein Kinase인 Ime2의 역할 (A Specific Role of Ime2, Meiosis-specific Protein Kinase, in the Eary Meiotic Pathway in Saccharomyces cerevisiae)

  • 출아효모에서는 질소원의 고갈과 MATa/MAT${\alpha}$ 이배체 세포의 감수분열기 특이적인 유전자 발현에 의해 체세포분열기의 G1기에서 감수분열기로의 진행이 결정된다. 이러한 두 경로는 감수분열기 특이적인 IME 유전자군에 의한 전사조절에 의해 활성화되어 감수분열기가 시작된다. 본 연구는 IME2 유전자가 protein kinase 로서 감수분열기의 어떤 과정에 직접 관여하는가를 조사하기 위하여 먼저 PCR mutagenesis를 통하여 온도감수성 ime2 변이주를 분리하였다. 전체 62개의 온도감수성 변이주 중에서 온도에 따른 포자형성능과 감수분열기 재조합 빈도에 대하여 명확한 차이를 나타내는 3종류의 변이주들(ts ${\cdot}$ ime2-11, ts ${\cdot}$ ime2-12와 ts ${\cdot}$ ime2-13)을 선택하였다. 이러한 3종류의 온도감수성 변이주를 이용하여 제한온도에서 감수분열기 초기과정 중 결손을 조사하기 위해, FACScan analysis를 한 결과 IME2유전자가 감수분열기의 DNA 복제과정의 개시 및 완료에 관여함을 알 수 있었고, his4 혹은 arg4 locus에서 감수분열기 재조함 빈도의 측정으로 재조합 과정에 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 더욱이${\Delta}$mre4 파괴주에 IME2유전자를 과다발현시켜 그 영향을 조사한 결과, 감수분열기 특이적인 protein kinase 인 IME2와 MRE4가 감수분열기 초기과정인 재조합 과정에서는 동일한 경로에 작용한다는 것이 제시되었다.

유한요소법을 이용한 IMZ임플란트의 플라스틱 및 티타늄 IME의 응력분포에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON STRESS DISTRIBUTION IN IMZ IMPLANT WITH A PLASTIC OR A TITANIUM IME USING FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS)

  • Whether stress-absorbing elements are functional in an implant system has been an issue of interest in oral implantology. The unique feature of the IMZ implant system is the planned imitation of the stress-distributing function of the structural unit of the tooth, periodontium, and alveolar bone through the use of an intramobile element(IME). The purpose of this study was to compare the difference in the displacement and the stress distibutions of IMZ implant with a polyoxymethylene(POM) or a titanium IME under static load. Two dimensional finite element analysis(FEA) was applied for this study and two finite element models were created. PATRAN program(DPA Co.,USA), a software for FEA, and SUN-SPARC2GX(SUN Co., USA), a workstation computer, were used. $1Kg/mm^2$ of static load was loaded individually on each three point of crown of implant prosthesis ; central fossa(load 1), mesial cusp tip(load 2), distal cusp tip(load 3), The displacements of X- and Y-axis and total displacement were measured at mesial and distal cusp tips, mesial and distal points between crown and IME, and implant apex. The von Mises stress was measured at mesial and distal points between crown and IME, mesial and distal points between IME and TIE, mesial and distal alveolar crest, the mesial and distal midpoints of implant, and implant apex. The difference in resultant values were compared and evaluated statistically using paired t-test. The results were as follows : 1. Under the load 1, all the displacement of implant with titanium IME at 5 measuring points was larger than that of with POM IME except total and Y-axis displacement at implant apex. And the differences in stress distributions with POM and titanium were varied. 2. Under the load 2, all the displacement of implant with titanium IME at 5 measuring points was larger than that of with POM IME except X-axis displacement at distal cusp tip. And the differences in stress distributions were varied. 3. Under the load 3, all the displacement of implant with titanium IME at 5 measuring points was larger than that of with POM IME except Y-axis displacement at mesial cusp tip. And the differences in stress distributions were varied. 4. For the displacement, there was significant difference statistically only in total displacement (P<0.1), but was no significant difference in X- and Y-axis displacement(P>0.1). For the stress, there was no significant difference among the compared values.

Integer-Pel Motion Estimation for HEVC on Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA)

  • A new video compression standard called High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) has recently been released onto the market. HEVC provides higher coding performance compared to previous standards, but at the cost of a significant increase in encoding complexity, particularly in motion estimation (ME). At the same time, the computing capabilities of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) have become more powerful. This paper proposes a parallel integer-pel ME (IME) algorithm for HEVC on GPU using the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). In the proposed IME, concurrent parallel reduction (CPR) is introduced. CPR performs several parallel reduction (PR) operations concurrently to solve two problems in conventional PR; low thread utilization and high thread synchronization latency. The proposed encoder reduces the portion of IME in the encoder to almost zero with a 2.3% increase in bitrate. In terms of IME, the proposed IME is up to 172.6 times faster than the IME in the HEVC reference model.

Comparative Analysis of the Independent Medical Examination Reports and Legal Decisions in Pain Medicine

  • Background: An independent medical examination (IME) is a critical process for awarding reparation for injury. However, conducting an IME in pain medicine is very difficult, not only because pain is a subjective symptom, but also because there are no proper objective methods to demonstrate it. This study was conducted to compare IME reports and the court decisions on the disability status of the patients. Methods: We analyzed 79 IME reports and 25 corresponding court decisions on the disability status of patients. The diagnoses, causal relationships between the patients' status and the trauma, McBride's degree of disability, the American Medical Association's impairment ratings, the estimated annual cost for future treatment, and the necessity of care-giving were compared and analyzed. Results: The diagnoses in the 79 cases were complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) type I (58 cases), CRPS type II (7 cases), peripheral neuropathy (5 cases), myofascial pain syndrome (4 cases), herniated intervertebral disc (2 cases), and fibromyalgia (1 case). The types of accidents were road traffic accidents (50 cases), military injuries (14 cases), industrial accidents (11 cases), and others (4 cases). The IME reports and the court decisions stated considerably different McBride's degrees of disability (P = 0.014). However, there was no significant difference in the estimated cost for future treatment between the IME reports and the court decisions (P = 0.912). Conclusions: IME reports should be accurate, fair, and based on objective findings. Feedback on IMEs from the court decisions is helpful for reference use.

변이할당분석을 이용한 충청남도 금강권 산업구조 특성 분석 (A Study on Characteristics of Industrial Structure by Shift-Share Analysis : The Case of Chungnam Geumgang Area)

  • This study, in order to complement instability of analysis result stemming from the choice between reference point and comparison point which is pointed out as the defect of shift-share analysis, conducted shift-share analysis using Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) trend of Geumgang area, Chungcheongnam-do for the period from 2000 to 2011. As a result of the analysis, (1) industries that had both the positive Regional Share Effect (RSE) and Industrial Mixed Effect (IME) were service industries such as manufacturing industry, electricity gas, transportation industry, art, etc., which are positively influencing the regional industry. (2) industries that had both the negative RSE and IME were other service industries such as wholesale and retail businesses, lodging industry, food industry, real estate business and leasing service, business service industry, public administration, etc., which provide basic livelihood services for the residents. (3) industries that had the positive RSE and negative IME were agriculture, forestry and fishery industry, mining industry, construction industry, and educational service industry. (4) industries that had the negative RSE and positive IME were info-communications industry, financial and insurance businesses, health industry, etc.

고속 탐색 알고리즘에 적합한 움직임 추정 전용 명령어 및 구조 설계 (Novel IME Instructions and their Hardware Architecture for Fast Search Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 H.264/AVC, MPEG4 등, 다양한 영상압축 코덱을 지원할 수 있는 ME ASIP (Application-specific Instruction Processor)의 정화소 움직임 추정 전용 명령어와 재구성 가능한 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 제안하는 전용의 명령어와 하드웨어 가속기는 HD급의 고화질 영상을 지원할 수 있는 성능을 가지고 있다. 제안하는 정화소 움직임 추정 명령어는 다수의 병렬 연산과 패턴 정보를 이용한 가변 포인트 2D SAD 연산기 구조를 통하여 전역탐색을 비롯한 각종 고속 탐색 알고리즘을 지원한다. 이를 위한 하드웨어 구조는 128개의 Processor Elements (PEs)로 구성되어 있는 Processor Element Group (PEG) 하나당 25,500 게이트를 가진다. 제안하는 ASIP은 Synopsys 사의 Processor Designer 로 검증하였고, Design Compiler를 이용 IBM 90nm 공정으로 합성하였다. 그 결과 제안하는 ASIP의 하드웨어 사이즈는 453K 게이트였으며, 동작 주파수는 188MHz로 HD급 1080p의 해상도를 가지는 영상을 실시간으로 동작 시킬 수 있다. 본 논문은 기존 2D SAD ASIP에 비하여 하드웨어 사이즈 측면에서 26%, 연산 속도 측면에서 평균 18%의 성능 향상을 보인다.

METABOLIZABLE ENERGY REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE AND GROWTH OF SUCKLING CALVES GIVEN MILK REPLACER

  • A total of 38 energy balance trials were done for calves fed a liquid milk replacer, calf starter and second cut mixed hay. Milk replacer supplied 81% of the total dietary energy. Live weight of calves averaged 54.1 (S.D 6.2) kg and daily gain 0.37 (${\pm}0.23$)kg. The metabolizability of gross energy averaged 0.822. A regression was calculated relating energy retention (ER, $kJ/kg^{0.75}$) to the intake of metabolizable energy (IME, $kJ/kg^{0.75}$): ER = 0.72 (${\pm}0.12$) IME - 330, r = 0.702, P < 0.01, $S.E.{\pm}18.0$. Metabolizable energy for maintenance (MEm) was calculated to be $458kJ/kg^{0.75}$ when ER = 0. The amount of IME over MEm for an individual animal (Meg, $kJ/kg^{0.75}$) was regressed on averaged daily gain (ADG, kg): Meg = 413 (${\pm}91$) ADG + 0.2, r = 0.650, P < 0.01, $S.E.{\pm}21$. The amount of ME requirement for suckling calves was estimated using values obtained above.

마이크로 인몰드 공정기술 기반 전자소자 제조 및 응용 (Recent Progress in Micro In-Mold Process Technologies and Their Applications)

  • 전 세계적 모바일 스마트 기기 혁명은 사람이 접하는 모든 공간에서 독립된 형태의 전기회로를 요구하고 있으며, 전자기기간 연결된 사물인터넷의 구현은 사용자 측면에서 운용이 쉽고 지속 가능한 디지털 생태계 인프라 구축에서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 이러한 기술은 자동차 전장품, 가정용 가전제품 및 웨어러블 기기의 생산 기술 발전으로 이어지고 있으며, 특히 최근 소개된 인몰드 전자기기(in-mold electronics, IME)는 기존의 대량 공정의 장점을 극대화할 수 있는 기술로 대두되고 있다. 이 기술은 평평한 2차원 기판에 기능성 잉크를 인쇄하고, 3차원 형상으로 열/사출 성형하여 경량화 및 저비용으로 장치를 생산해내는 경제성 강점을 이유로 산업적인 가치를 평가받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 인몰드 전자 장치의 제조기술 및 응용 측면에 대한 가장 최신의 국내외 연구 그룹에서 제안된 기술 개발을 소개하고자 한다. 신체 표면상에서 독립된 형태의 바이오센서 전자소자의 운용을 위한 생체 모사 기술, 에너지 소자, 생체신호 모니터링 센서들을 인몰드 기술로 구현하는 기술 및 장치 구성은, 4차 산업혁명과 함께 성장 중인 유연인쇄전자 기술과 융합되어 회로 기판 제조기술의 혁신을 가져올 것으로 기대된다.

제주도 왕이메오름의 식물상 (Wang-ime Oreum Flora on Jeju Island)

  • This study investigated the flora of the Wang-ime oreum located on Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, to basic data for the Jeju Island plant distribution. A total of 366 taxa were found with 94 families, 240 genera, 358 species, 1 subspecies, 6 varieties, and 1 forma. The floristic target species in Korea appeared as 2 taxa of grade V, 13 taxa of grade IV, 46 taxa of grade III, 5 taxa of grade II, and 49 taxa of grade I. There were 14 taxa for naturalized plants. The different plant life forms that appeared were large ground plants (M)(54 taxa), small land plants (N) (52 taxa), epiphyte (E) (6 taxa), indicator plants (Ch) (4 taxa), and semi-aquatic plants (H) (168 taxa), There were 34 and 48 taxa of plants(G) and annuals (Th) respectively. From these results, Wang-ime oreum, which is adjacent to ranches and grasslands, has little artificial interference, as more plants are distributed, and fewer naturalized plants are found than in Suwolbong and Dangsanbong. Accordingly, each oreum plays an important role in the flora of Jeju-do, thus a management plan tailored to the characteristics of the volcano is necessary.
