  • In most case high temperature components in fossil power plant are damaged by fatigue, creep and degradation. Design of power plant components is based on ideal loading such as temperature, pressure and so on. But in many cases unexpected loadings are applied at components. A key ingredient in plant life extension is the preventive diagnosis technology and remaining-life-assessment technology. This paper describes diagnosis technology and life-assessment technology for power plant boiler. It helps in setting up proper inspection schedules, maintenance procedures, and operating procedure.

DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL LASER WELDING SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE SIDE PANELS

  • Nowadays, the increasing global competition forces manufacturing enterprises to apply new technologies such as laser welding to manufacturing of their products. In case of automotive industries, they interest in assembly system for BIW (Body in White) carrying out laser welding. In this paper, the method of implementation for digital laser welding assembly system is proposed. Based on the requirements of assembly tasks obtained through product analysis, process modeling is executed by using the IDEF0 and UML model. For digital assembly system, the selected components are modeled by using 3D CAD tools. According to the system configuration strategy, lots of the alternative solutions for the assembly system of welding side panels are generated. Finally, the optimal laser welding system is chosen by the evaluation of the alternative solutions with TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method.

성대 반흔에 대한 기초연구의 최신 경향 (Trend of Basic Research for Vocal Fold Scar)

  • Vocal fold scar disrupts structure of lamina propria and causes significant change in vocal fold tissue biomechanics, resulting in a range of voice problems that often significantly compromise patient quality of life. Although several therapeutic management have been offered in an attempt to improve vocal fold scar, the ideal treatment has not yet been found. Recently, several tissue engineering technique for vocal fold scar using growth factors, several cells, and scaffolds have been described in tissue culture and animal models. Several growth factors such as hepatocyte growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, and transforming growth factor beta 3 for therapy and prevention of vocal fold scar have been studied. Cell types to regenerate vocal folds in scarring tissue have been introduced autologous or scarred vocal fold fibroblast and adult mesenchymal stem cells. Decellularized organ matrix and several hyaluronic acid materials have used as scaffolds for vocal fold scar.

  • Measuring temperature with ultrasonic wave apparatus is desirable in the case of both below 300$0^{\circ}C$ and ideal gas because of the fact that the temperature of gas is the function of only sound velocity. In this study, being used a heatable wind channel and a blower, the variation of temperature is observed in accordance with diverse flow rate(air velocity). The frequency modulation method is used to measure the temperature which is varying in hot air flow till 10$0^{\circ}C$. The length changed in the position of ultrasonic sensors is considered. Also, the effects of air velocity at the same temperature and various facing angles of ultrasonic sensors are considered. As a result of this study, it has been found that the temperature in gas flow is correctly measured regardless of both the distance of ultrasonic sensors and the variation of air velocity, and that there is just a little influence of facing angles.

Performance Analysis of CDMA-OFDM System via Cooperative Communication in Wireless Fading Environment

  • Signal distortion due to the path loss, shadow, and multi-path fading is very serious in radio channel. In this paper, we propose CDMA-OFDM cooperative communication system based on DFP(Decode and Forward Protocol) to overcome these phenomena using spread spectrum technique, orthogonal sub-carrier, and the space diversity. We simulated proposed system under Rayleigh flat fading channel environment. A variety of simulation results reveal the cooperation can provide performance gain of up to 12 dB over direct communications in ideal inter-user case at BER of $10^{-3}$. And we can also confirm variation of diversity effect as channel environment changes.

  • In this study, we first define user requirements to fulfill the reconnaissance and the search missions, by analyzing the system characteristics and operation environment. By investigating the design technology level, the development and procurement costs, the strong system design concepts and possible alternatives will be proposed. To analyze the system requirements, the Quality Function Deployment of the systems engineering approach will be implemented. The promising design alternatives that satisfy the user requirements are extracted by constructing the Morphological Matrix, then the best design concept will be obtained using the Pugh Concept Selection Matrix and the TOPSIS(Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution).

절삭조건을 고려한 공작물의 표면조도 해석 (Analysis on the Surface Roughness in Workpiece Considering Cutting Conditions)

  • To satisfy the requirement for the precision and productivity of machine tools, we need the technique to predict the surface roughness of workpiece under various cutting conditions. The surface roughness is mainly influenced by the ideal roughness i. e., the roughness by feeding quantity and geometry of the tool. In this paper, the surface roughness is divided into three zones and the mathematical models of the three zones are obtained, in consideration of the feeding conditions and tool geometry. Using the mathematical models, we developed a program to calculate the maximum feeding quantity satisfying the required surface roughness of the workpiece. The program is used to calculate the maximum feed for two kinds of the bites used under the real cutting condition.

  • A treatment should be functional, esthetic, conservative and periodontally healthy in order to meet criteria of an ideal dental procedure. In a prsthodontic patient with horizontal and/or vertical space deficiency, orthodontic tooth movement should be considered as a pre-prosthetic procedure. With a conventional technique, orthodontic treatment is a time-consuming and uncomfortable procedure. Pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment, however, is no longer difficult procedure with the help of recently developed techniques, such as passive bracketing. The present article outlines the problems and causes of horizontal and vertical space deficiency in prosthodontic patients, and presents efficient pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment modalities with typical clinical cases.

  • This paper attempts to examine the degree of chef's satisfaction on food purchasing in 5-star hotel in Seoul. Nowadays, hotel industry in Korea is becoming more and more competitive and the hotel products higher education. Among a range of divisions in deluxe hotel in Seoul, in particular, a F&B division has been more profitable than the others. It is widely accepted that the proportion of revenue obtained from F&B sales is higher than that of revenue from room sales. However, under the IMF intervention, hotels in Korea trend to depend on room sales rather than F&B sales in terms of profit. In such a environment, it is essential that F&B division should carefully seek for an appropriate purchasing procedure which will affect an organizational structure and allow the company to fulfill its goals. Moreover, it is timely their performance and quality of services through ideal food purchasing procedure. In this paper, the author uses a survey technique distributed to approximately 200 chefs who work at 5-stars hotel in Seoul. The author expects that this paper will contribute to the researchers or practitioners who might need a reference on the food purchasing system.

  • In this paper, we aim to evaluate the performance of the digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm used in [8] in order to improve the resolution of spectrometers with fixed number of low-cost, non-ideal filters. In such spectrometers, the resolution is limited by the number of filters. We aim to demonstrate via new experiments that the resolution improvement by six times over the conventional limit is possible by using the DSP algorithm as claimed by [8].
