Relationship Between Tyrosinase Inhibitory Action and Oxidation-Reduction Potential of Cosmetic Whitening Ingredients and Phenol Derivatives

  • The oxidation-reduction potentials of cosmetic raw materials, showing tyrosinase inhibitory action, and phenolic compounds structurally similar to L-tyrosine were determined by cylcic voltammetry. The voltammograms obtained could be classified ito 4 patterns (patterns 1-4). Patterns 1, characterized by oxidation and reduction peaks as a pair, was observed with catechol, hydroquinone or phenol, and pattern 2 exhibiting another oxidation peak in addition to oxidation and reduction peaks as a pair was found with arbutin, kojic acid, resorcinol, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and L-tyrosine as the substrate of tyrosinase. Pattern 3 with an independent oxidation peak only was expressed by L-ascorbic acid, and pattern 4 with a reduction peak only at high potentials, by hinokitiol. The tyrosinase inhibitory activity of these compounds was also evaluated using the 50% inhibitory concentration ($IC_{50}$) and the inhibition constant (Ki) as parameters. Hinokitiol, classified as patterns 4, showed the highest inhibitory activity (lowest $IC_{50}$ and Ki). Hydroquinone showing the second highest activity belonged to pattern 1, which also included compounds exhibiting pattern 2 was relatively low with Ki values being in the order of 10-4 M. Although there was no consistent relationship between oxidation-reduction potentials and tyrosinase inhibitory action, the voltammetry data can be used as an additional index to establish the relationship between the structure and the tyrosine inhibitory activity.

  • Optical module package is a hermetic metal-ceramic package for carrying optical IC. In case of LD(laser diode) module, window is used for both the path of optical signal and hermetic sealing of package. So, window has the metallization pattern on the surface for brazing process with package wall. In this study, several method were investigated for metallization. Thin film, thick film and mixed method were used for fabrication of metallization pattern. After brazing process, hermeticity and adhesion strength were tested for characterization of metallization pattern.

3D Vision Inspection Algorithm using Geometrical Pattern Matching Method (기하학적 패턴 매칭을 이용한 3차원 비전 검사 알고리즘)

  • We suggest a 3D vision inspection algorithm which is based on the external shape feature. Because many electronic parts have the regular shape, if we have the database of pattern and can recognize the object using the database of the object s pattern, we can inspect many types of electronic parts. Our proposed algorithm uses the geometrical pattern matching method and 3D database on the electronic parts. We applied our suggested algorithm fer inspecting several objects including typical IC and capacitor. Through the experiments, we could find that our suggested algorithm is more effective and more robust to the inspection environment(rotation angle, light source, etc.) than conventional 2D inspection methods. We also compared our suggested algorithm with the feature space trajectory method.

Inhibition of Barley Acetolactate Synthase by Triazolopyrimidine Derivative (트리아졸로피리미딘계 유도체에 의한 보리 Acetolactate Synthase의 저해)

  • Acetolactate synthase (ALS) catalyzes the first common reaction in the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids, valine, leucine, and isoleucine. ALS is the common target of several classes of structurally diverse herbicides, the triazolopyrimidines, the imidazolinones, the sulfonylureas, and pyrimidyl-oxy-benzoates. We examined ihibitory activities of newly synthesized triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide derivatives using partially purified ALS from barley. $IC_{50}$ values for the active derivatives are 0.5nM∼8$\mu$M. Among them TP1 and TP2 are the most potent ALS inhibitors with $IC_{50}$ values of 0.5nM and 1.6nM, respectively. These inhibitors are more potent in the inhibition of barley ALS than commercial herbicides, Metosulam ($IC_{50}$;3.6 nM), Flumetsulam ($IC_{50}$;126 nM), and Cadre ($IC_{50};4 {\mu}M$). The progress curves for inhibition of ALS by TP2 showed that the amount of inhibition increases with time. The inhibition of ALS by TP2 was mixed-type inhibition with respect to pyruvate. Dual inhibition analyses of TP2 versus an imidazolinone, Cadre, and Leu showed parallel and intercepting kinetic pattern, respectively. The results suggest that TP2 binds to ALS competively with Cadre but not with Leu. Chemical modification of cysteinly residues in ALS decreased the sensitivity of ALS to Leu, while the modification did not affect the sensitivity of ALS to TP2 and Cadre.

  • A new pattern generator of BIST based on the pattern clustering is developed. The proposed technique embeds a pre-computed deterministic test set with low hardware overhead for test-per-clock environments. The test control logic is simple and can be synthesized automatically. Experimental results for the ISCAS benchmark circuits show that the effectiveness of the new pattern generator compared to the previous methods.

  • To inspect the defects of printed markings on the surface of IC package, the OCV (Optical Character Verification) method based on NCC (Normalized Correlation Coefficient) pattern matching is widely used. In order to detect the micro pattern defects appearing on the small portion of the markings, a Partitioned NCC pattern matching method was proposed to overcome the limitation of the NCC pattern matching. In this method, the reference pattern is first partitioned into several blocks and the NCC values are computed and are combined in these small partitioned blocks, rather than just using the NCC value for the whole reference pattern. In this paper, we proposed a method to decide the proper number of partition blocks and a method to inspect and combine the NCC values of each partitioned block to identify the defective markings.

Antihypertensive Effects of Amlodipine Besylate and Its New Salts (암로디핀의 베실레이트염과 신규 염들의 항고혈압작용 비교평가)

  • The vascular relaxant and antihypertensive effects of newly developed salts of amlodipine-maleate and camsylate-were evaluated on isolated aorta from rats and in spontaneously hypertensive rats, and compared with those of amlodipine besylate, a standard drug. Amlodipine besylate concentration-dependently inhibited $Ca^{2+}$-induced contraction in depolarised rat aorta($IC_{50}$/: 4.17 nM), with a very slow onset of action. Amlodipine maleate and amlodipine camsylate also showed vascular relaxant effect with a pattern and a potency similar to those of amlodipine besylate($IC_{50}$/: 3.62 and 3.28 nM, respectively). Amloclipine besylate produced a dose-dependent and long-lasting(>10∼24h) antihypertensive effect with a slow onset of action (ED$_{20}$: 2.31 mg/kg) in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Amlodipine maleate and amlodipine camsylate also exerted antihypertensive effects with a pattern and a potency similar to those of amlodipine besylate(ED$_{20}$: 2.09 and 2.21 mg/kg, respectively). These results suggest that amlodipine maleate and amlodipine camsylate are not statistically differ with amlodipine besylate in relaxant effect of $Ca^{2+}$-induced contraction in depolarised rat aorta and in antihypertensive effect in spontaneously antihypertensive rats.

Antihypertensive Effect of Amlodipine Adipate, a Novel Salt of Amlodipine, in Hypertensive Rat Models

  • The vascular relaxant effect of amlodipine adipate, a new salt of amlodipine, was evaluate in isolated rat aorta, and compared with that of amlodipine besylate. Furthermore, antihypertensive effects were measured in hypertensive rat models, such as spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and rena1 hypertensive rats (RHR). Amlodipine adipate concentration-dependently inhibited $Ca^{2+}$-induced contraction of rat aorta with a very slow onset of action (reached its maximum at 3.5 h;$IC_{50}$: 3.76 nM), having a pattern and a potency similar to those of amlodipine besylate ($IC_{50}$: 4.01 nM). In SHR and RHR, orally administered amlodipine adipate produced a dosedependent and long-lasting (>10-24 h) antihypertensive effect ($ED_{20}$: 2.48 and 1.57 mg/kg, respectively), with a pattern and a potency similar to those of amlodipine besylate ($ED_{20}$: 2.50 and 1.99 mg/kg in SHR and RHR, respectively). These results suggest that amlodipine adipate is a potent and long-lasting antihypertensive agent and that its antihypertensive effect is not significantly different to that of amlodipine besylate.

Detour Behavior on the Expressway using Route Travel Data (경로형 통행데이터 기반 고속도로 우회행태 분석)

  • Detour behavior on the expressway means that the driver uses the local road by passing the part of the expressway which is stagnant at the time of the traffic demand such as holidays. Since the detour rate was estimated through the survey at toll gate in the past, there was a difficulty in estimating the actual detour rate due to the small sample of the survey. In this study, we use DSRC-based route travel data to conduct empirical studies on detour patterns such as the estimation of actual detour rate, the improvement of travel time using detour road, and the correlation between traffic conditions on the expressway and detour rate. On the day of Chuseok and the day before Chuseok, the analysis of Giheung-DongtanIC→OsanIC and Seopyeongtaek IC→Walgott JC showed that the use of detour roads increased gradually during the congestion of the main line and travel time reduced when using detour roads, However, when the traffic congestion of the main line is not severe, the travel time increases when using the detour roads. The correlation between the traffic condition of the expressway and the actual detour rate has a negative correlation, which is consistent with the congestion pattern of the main line. The results of this study can be used to overcome limitations of detour pattern research based on surveys in the past and to establish a detour strategy for expressway sections where traffic demand is concentrated.

Effect of Matrix Structures on the Fracture Characteristics of Austempered C/V Graphite Iron (오스템퍼링처리한 C/V흑연주철의 파괴특성에 미치는 기지조직의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Effect of various austempered structures on fracture characteristics of C/V graphite cast iron has studied. The tensile strength and hardness reached the maximum value of 971.4MPa and HB302 at the austempering temperature of $250^{\circ}C$, respectively. As the austempering temperature increased, the amount of retained austenite increased from 18% to 22, 29%, while $K_{IC}$ values ranged from the value of $65MPa{\cdot}m^{12} to 70MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}, 66MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}. This fact that $K_{IC}$ value was not sensitive to the increase of the amount of the retained austenite was that $K_{IC}$ was dependent on the matrix structure in lower bainitic matrix, while dependent on the notch effect from C/V graphite shape in upper bainitic matrix. Fractured surfaces showed a ductile fracture pattern at $300^{\circ}C$. Very large coalescence by C/V graphite and relatively small voids by spheroidal graphite were observed.
