  • This paper proposes a new method on the EMG AR(autoregressive) modeling in pattern recognition for various head motions. The proper electrode placement in applying AR or cepstral coefficients for EMG signature discrimination is investigated. EMG signals are measured for different 10 motions with two electrode arrangements simultaneously. Electrode pairs are located separately on dominant muscles(S-type arrangement), because the bandwidth of signals obtained from S-type placement is wider than that from C-type(closely in the region between muscles). From the result of EMG pattern recognition test, the proposed mIAR(modified integrated mean autoregressive model) technique improves the recognitions rate around 17-21% compared with other the AR and cepstral methods.

Effect of Ar+ Ion Irradiation of Polymeric Fiber on Interface and Mechanical Properties of Cementitious Composites

  • The values of fracture energy and mechanical flexural strength of Fiber Reinforced Cement (FRC) with polypropylene (PP) fiber modified by Ion Assisted Reaction (JAR), by which functional groups were grafted on the surface of PP fiber, was improved about 2 times as those of fracture energy and flexural strength of cement reinforced by untreated PP fiber. PP fiber was irradiated in O$_2$ environment by Ar$\^$+/ ion. The contact angle of PP treated by IAR decreased largely when compared with untreated PP. From this result, we expected that surface energy and interfacial adhesion force of treated PP fiber increased. The strain hardening occurred in the strain-stress curve of FRC including PP treated by IAR when compared with that of FRC with untreated PP. These enhanced mechanical properties might be due to strong interaction between hydrophilic group on modified PP fiber and hydroxyl group in cement matrix. This hydrophilic group on surface modified PP fiber was confirmed by XPS analysis. We clearly observed hydration products that were fixed at modified PP fiber due to the strong adhesion force of interface in cement reinforced modified PP by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) study.

  • Polycarbonate (PC) and Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) surface was modified by ion assisted reaction (IAR) technique to obtain the hydrophilic functional groups and improve the wettability. In conditions of ion assisted reaction, ion beam energy was changed from 500 to 1500eV, and ion dose and oxygen gas blown rate were fixed $1\times10^{16}$ ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 4ml/min, respectively. Wetting angle of water on PC and PMMA surface modified by $Ar^+$ ion without blowing oxygen at 4ml/mon showed $5^{\circ}$ and $10^{\circ}$. Changes of wetting angle with oxygen gas and $Ar^+$ ion irradiation were explained by considering formation of hydrophilic group due to a reaction between irradiated polymer chain by energetic ion irradiation and blown oxygen gas. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis shows that hydrophilic groups such as -C-O, -(C=O)- and -(C=O)-O- are formed on the surface of polymer by chemical interaction. The polymer surface modification using ion assisted reaction only changed the surface physical properties and sept the bulk properties. In comparison with other modification methods, the surface modification by IAR treatment was chemically stable and enhanced the adhesion between metal and polymer surface. The applications of various kinds of polymer surface modification methods, metal and polymer surface. The applications of various kinds of polymer surface modification could be appled to the new materials about hydrophilic surface properties by IAR treatment. The adhesion between metal film and polymer measured by Scotch tape test whether the hydrophilic surfaces could improve the adhesion strength or not.

종합적 대동맥 근부 및 판막 재건술의 최근 초기 수술성적 (Recent Early Operative Outcomes of Comprehensive Aortic Root & Valve Reconstruction (CARVAR) Procedure)

  • 배경: 다양한 대동맥판막질환의 대동맥 근부 및 판막엽에 적용할 수 있는 종합적 대동맥근부 및 판막재건술(comprehensive aortic root and valve reconstruction, CARVAR)이 개발되어 시행되고 있으며, 최근의 초기 임상 성적을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2007년 10월부터 2008년 9월까지 대동맥 판막질환으로 CARVAR 수술을 받은 114명을 대상으로 하였다. 남자는 66명, 평균나이는 53 (범위 14~84)세였다. 환자는 질환에 따라 AAR group: 대동맥 근부 이상에 의한 대동맥판막 폐쇄부전증 그룹(n=18), IAR group: 판막엽 이상에 의한 대동맥판막 페쇄부전증 그룹(n=42), IAS group: 대동맥판막 협착증 그룹(n=51), PAVR group: 이전에 대동맥판막 치환술을 받은 그룹(n=3)으로 구분하였다. 동관연결부(sinotubular junction) 축소술은 114예 모두에서 시행하였으며 대동맥판막륜(aortic annulus)축소술은 AAR그룹의 14예와 IAR그룹의 6예에서 시행하였다. 대동맥판막엽 재건은 AAR그룹의 10예를 제외한 모두에서 시행하였고, 대동맥 박리증에 의한 대동맥 판막 질환 그룹은 이 연구에서 제외하였다. 결과: 수술 사망이나 추적 사망은 없었다. AAR그룹에서는 동맥동의 직경이 평균 술전 $54.6{\pm}8.4$ mm에서 술후 $38.3{\pm}3.8$ mm로 감소하였고 IAR그룹에서는 폐쇄부전의 정도가 평균 술전 grade 3.2에서 술후 0.2로 감소하였으며 IAS그룹에서는 대동맥판구의 평균압력차이가 술전 $47.1{\pm}24.4$ mmHg에서 술후 $15.1{\pm}11.7$ mmHg로 감소하였다. 그리고 PAVR그룹에서는 페쇄부전의 정도가 술전 grade 3에서 술후 0로 감소하였다. 풍선형 관동맥 관류관으로 인한 관상동맥협착증이 4명에서 발생하였으며 술후 심내막염이 2명에서 발생하였다. 모든 환자는 퇴원하여 현재 외래에서 안정된 상태로 추적 관찰 중에 있다. 결론: 종합적 대동맥근부 및 판막 재건술(comprehensive aortic root and valve reconstruction, CARVAR)은 좋은 초기 임상 성적을 보였으며 모든 대동맥판막질환에 적용할 수 있기 위하여 좋은 중장기 임상성적이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

  • 프랑스 쉬드 아비아시옹(Sud Aviation)이 프랑스 육군의 요구에 부응하기 위해 제작한 SA 330 푸마는 지금도 가장 성공적인 유럽제 다목적 범용헬기로 평가받고 있다. 현재 우리나라 KAI에서 개발 중인 KUH 수리온도 따지고 보면 AS 330을 그 기원으로 하고 있다. 1968년부터 1987년까지 697대가 생산됐고 IAR 330, Atlas Oryz 등 해외 면허생산은 물론 유러콥터(Eurocopter) AS 332 개발에 밑거름이 된 SA 330에 대해 소개한다.

  • Development of metal ion source growth of high quality Cu metal film formation of non-stoichiometric $SnO_2$ films of Si(100), and modification fo polymer surface by low enregy ion beam have been carried out at KIST Ion Beam Lab. A new metal ion source with high ion beam flux has been developed by a hybrid ion beam (HIB) deposition and non-stoichiometric $SnO_2$ films are controlled by supplying energy. The ion assisted reaction (IAR) in which keV ion beam is irradiated in reactive gas environment has been deveolped for modifying the polymers and enhancing adhesion to other materials and advantages of the IAR have been reviewed.
