Purpose: To develop a novel combination of controlled aliasing in parallel imaging results in higher acceleration (CAIPIRINHA) with integrated SSFP (CAIPI-iSSFP) for accelerated SSFP imaging without banding artifacts at 3T. Materials and Methods: CAIPI-iSSFP was developed by adding a dephasing gradient to the balanced SSFP (bSSFP) pulse sequence with a gradient area that results in $2{\pi}$ dephasing across a single pixel. Extended phase graph (EPG) simulations were performed to show the signal behaviors of iSSFP, bSSFP, and RF-spoiled gradient echo (SPGR) sequences. In vivo experiments were performed for brain and abdominal imaging at 3T with simultaneous multi-slice (SMS) acceleration factors of 2, 3 and 4 with CAIPI-iSSFP and CAIPI-bSSFP. The image quality was evaluated by measuring the relative contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and by qualitatively assessing banding artifact removal in the brain. Results: Banding artifacts were removed using CAIPI-iSSFP compared to CAIPI-bSSFP up to an SMS factor of 4 and 3 on brain and liver imaging, respectively. The relative CNRs between gray and white matter were on average 18% lower in CAIPI-iSSFP compared to that of CAIPI-bSSFP. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that CAIPI-iSSFP provides up to a factor of four acceleration, while minimizing the banding artifacts with up to a 20% decrease in the relative CNR.
Brown provided a structure theorem for a class of perfect ideals of grade 3 with type ${\lambda}$ > 0. We introduced a skew-symmetrizable matrix to describe a structure theorem for complete intersections of grade 4 in a Noetherian local ring. We construct a class of perfect ideals I of grade 3 with type 2 defined by a certain skew-symmetrizable matrix. We present the Hilbert function of the standard $k$-algebras R/I, where R is the polynomial ring $R=k[v_0,v_1,{\ldots},v_m]$ over a field $k$ with indeterminates $v_i$ and deg $v_i=1$.
Background: Glycogen synthase kinase $3{\beta}$ ($GSK3{\beta}$) is a ubiquitous serine/threonine kinase that is regulated by serine phosphorylation at 9. Recent studies have reported the beneficial effects of a number of the pharmacological $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibitors in rodent models of septic shock. Since most of the $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibitors are targeted at the ATP-binding site, which is highly conserved among diverse protein kinases, the development of novel non-ATP competitive $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibitors is needed. Methods: Based on the unique phosphorylation motif of $GSK3{\beta}$, we designed and generated a novel class of $GSK3{\beta}$ inhibitor (GSK3i) peptides. In addition, we investigated the effects of a GSK3i peptide on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated cytokine production and septic shock. Mice were intraperitoneally injected with GSK3i peptide and monitored over a 7-day period for survival. Results: We first demonstrate its effects on LPS-stimulated pro-inflammatory cytokine production including interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-12p40. LPS-induced IL-6 and IL-12p40 production in macrophages was suppressed when macrophages were treated with the GSKi peptide. Administration of the GSK3i peptide potently suppressed LPS-mediated endotoxin shock. Conclusion: Collectively, we present a rational strategy for the development of a therapeutic GSK3i peptide. This peptide may serve as a novel template for the design of non-ATP competitive GSK3 inhibitors.
The photodissociation dynamics of CH2I2 has been studied at 304 nm by state-selective photofragment translational spectroscopy. Velocity distributions, anisotropy parameters, and relative quantum yields are obtained for the ground I(2P3/2) and spin-orbit excited state I*(2P1/2) iodine atoms, which are produced from photodissociation of CH2I2 at this wavelength. These processes are found to occur via B1 ← A1 type electronic transitions. The quantum yield of I*(2P1/2) is determined to be 0.25, indicating that the formation of ground state iodine is clearly the favored dissociation channel in the 304 nm wavelength region. From the angular distribution of dissociation products, the anisotropy parameters are determined to be β(I)=0.4 for the I(2P3/2) and β(I*)=0.55 for the I*(2P1/2) which substantially differ from the limiting value of 1.13. The positive values of anisotropy parameter, however, show that the primary processes for I and I* formation channels proceed dominantly via a transition which is parallel to I-I axis. The above results are interpreted in terms of dual path formation of iodine atoms from two different excited states, i.e., a direct and an indirect dissociation via curve crossing between these states. The translational energy distributions of recoil fragments reveal that a large fraction of the available energy goes into the internal excitation of the CH2I photofragment; < Eint > /Eavl=0.80 and 0.82 for the I and I* formation channels, respectively. The quantitative analysis for the energy partitioning of available energy into the photofragments is used to compare the experimental results with the prediction of direct impulsive model for photodissociation dynamics.
An organometallic precursor, hfac(hexafluoroacetylacetonate) Cu(I) DMB (3,3-dimethyl- 1-butene) was synthesized, evaluated and compared with other precursors for metal organic chemical vapor deposition of copper thin films. It was found that at $40^{\circ}C$, the vapor pressure was an order of magnitude higher (about 3 torr) than (hfac) Cu vinyltrimethylsilane (VTMS) and films could be deposited at the substrate temperature of 100-$280^{\circ}C$ with deposition rate substantially higher. The copper films contained no detectable impurities as measured by Auger electron spectroscopy and had a resistivity of about 2.0$\mu\Omega$-cm in the deposition temperature range of 150 to $250^{\circ}C$. From the thermal analysis, (hfac)Cu(I)(DMB) is believed to be quite stable and no appreciable amount of precipitation was observed at $65^{\circ}C$ heating for more than a month.
The Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) has been used in folk medicine to treat cancers. However, limited information exists on the underlying anticancer effects of the major component of I. obliquus in vivo. We hypothesize that the pure compounds ($3{\beta}$-hydroxy-lanosta-8,24-dien-21-al, inotodiol and lanosterol, respectively) separated from I. obliquus would inhibit tumor growth in Balbc/c mice bearing Sarcoma-180 cells (S-180) in vivo and growth of human carcinoma cells in vitro. To test this hypothesis, the growth inhibition of each subfraction isolated from I. obliquus on human carcinoma cell lines (lung carcinoma A-549 cells, stomach adenocarcinoma AGS cells, breast adenocarcinoma MCF-7 cells, and cervical adenocarcinoma HeLa cells) was tested in vitro. Then, after S-180 implantation, the mice were fed a normal chow supplemented with 0, 0.1 or 0.2 mg of subfraction 1, 2 or 3 per mouse per day. All of the subfractions isolated from I. obliquus showed significant cytotoxic activity against the selected cancer cell lines in vitro. Subfraction 1 was more active than subfraction 2 and subfraction 3 against the A549, AGS and MCF-7 cancer cell lines in vitro. In in vivo results, subfraction 1 isolated from I. obliquus at concentrations of 0.1 and 0.2 mg/mouse per day significantly decreased tumor volume by 23.96% and 33.71%, respectively, as compared with the control. Subfractions 2 and 3 also significantly inhibited tumor growth in mice bearing S-180 as compared with the control mouse tumor. Subfraction 1 isolated from I. obliquus showed greater inhibition of tumor growth than subfractions 2 and 3, which agrees well with the in vitro results. The results suggest that I. obliquus and its compounds in these subfractions isolated from I. obliquus could be used as natural anticancer ingredients in the food and/or pharmaceutical industry.
Purpose : The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of 3-[$^{131}I$]iodo-O-methyl-L-${\alpha}$-methyltyrosine ([$^{131}I$]OMIMT) as an agent for tumor image. Materials and Methods : After synthesis of 4-O-methyl-L-${\alpha}$-methyltyrosine (OMAMT), OMAMT was labeled with [$^{131}I$] using Iodogen method. In vitro cellular uptake study was performed using 9 L gliosarcoma cells at various time points upto 4 hr. The biodistribution (five rats implanted with the 9 L gliosar-coma cells per group) was evaluated at 30 min, 2 hr, 24 hr after iv injection of 3.7 MBq [$^{131}I$]OMIMT or L-3-[$^{131}I$]iodo-${\alpha}$-methyltyrosine [$^{131}I$]IMT). Gamma camera images were obtained at 30 min, 2 hr and 24 hr. Results: [$^{131}I$]OMIMT uptake was 3.3 times and 2.5 times higher than [$^{131}I$]IMT uptake at 30 min and 60 min, respectively and same after 2 hr in in vitro study using 9L gliosarcoma cells. Maximum accumulation in tumor occurred at 30 min for both [$^{131}I$]OMIMT and [$^{131}I$]IMT in tumor bearing rats. The tumor uptake of [$^{131}I$]OMIMT was significantly higher than that of [$^{131}I$]IMT at early time point studied ($3.74{\pm}0.48$ vs $0.38{\pm}0.17%$ ID/g at 30 min and $2.40{\pm}0.17$ vs $0.24{\pm}0.03%$ ID/g at 2 hr, respectively, p<0.01). However, the tumor uptake of both radiolabels were not significantly different at 24 hr ($0.04{\pm}0.01$ vs $0.05{\pm}0.01%$ ID/g). Tumor was visualized as early as at 30 min in gamma camera images. Conclusion: These data suggested that [$^{131}I$]OMIMT might be a useful tumor imaging agent and has more advantage for the tumor imaging compared to [$^{131}I$]IMT

Hjort(1990) obtained the nonparametric Bayes estimator $\^{F}_{c,a}$ of $F_0$ with respect to beta processes in the random censorship model. Let $X_1,{\cdots},X_n$ be i.i.d. $F_0$ and let $C_1,{\cdot},\;C_n$ be i.i.d. G. Assume that $F_0$ and G are continuous. This paper shows that {$\^{F}_{c,a}$(u){\|}0 < u < T} converges weakly to a Gaussian process whenever T < $\infty$ and $\~{F}_0({\tau})\;<\;1$.
In iodine-131 labelling of iodocompounds such as tetrachloro-P-tetraiodo R-fluorescein, sodium orthoiodohippurate and a non-iodocompound, human serum albumin (HSA), the labelling rates and yields are accurately compared with each other. The reaction systems conducted for each compounds were different conditions: sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I containing reducing agent, sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I free from reducing agent, and sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I free from reducing agent but containing considerable amount of iodide-$^{131}$ I etc. The labelling yields were generally poor; 10% in the case of using sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I containing redoing agent, and 50~60% in the case of using sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I free from reducing agent but containing considerable amount of iodide-$^{131}$ I. However, fair yields were obtained in the case of using sodium iodide-$^{131}$ I free from reducing agent and mostly in the form of iodide-$^{131}$ I. The reaction entities involved in these reactions are also briefly discussed.
In this paper we consider more systematically the centralizer C(S) of the set $S = {f_a $\mid$ f_a : X \to X ; x \longmapsto x * a, a \in X}$ with respect to the semigroup End(X) of all endomorphisms of an implicative BCK-algebra X with the condition (S). We obtain a series of interesting results. The main results are stated as follows : (1) C(S) with repect to a binary operation * defined in a certain way forms a bounded implicative BCK-algebra with the condition (S). (2) X can be imbedded in C(S) such that X is an ideal of C(S)/ (3) If X is not bounded, it can be imbedded in a bounded subalgebra T of C(S) such that X is a maximal ideal of T. (4) If $X (\neq {0})$ is semisimple, C(S) is BCK-isomorphic to $\prod_{i \in I}{A_i}$ in which ${A_i}_{i \in I}$ is simple ideal family of X.
