  • For the execution of RIETAN program adopting Rietveld Analysis Method, the sample superconductor is made according to the solid state synthesis method at 920.deg. C for 24hrs, and was examined for the optimization of parameters needed to analyze Rietveld method with the input of the measured pattern data after measuring the pattern resulted from the X-ray diffraction. It was proven that the lattice constant of the superconductor which was consisted of Pmmm orthorhombic crystal structure in the analyzed space group correspond to the presented theoretical lattice constant a=3.8887(8).angs., b=3.8238(4).angs., c=11.7079.angs.. Therefore, it was examined and confin-ned that the R factor, which was compensated after analyzing the structure of superconductor resulted from this experimented data with the computer simulation, was refined to $R_{wp}$=8.83[%], $R_{P}$=6.47[%], $R_{I}$=10.08[%], $R_{F}$=7.19[%], $R_{E}$=3.76[%]. On the basis of these experimental data, the significant parameter such as the scale factor(S) and the zero point shift(Z) and FWHM value(U,V,W) were optimized as follows; S=2.0827E-3, Z=0.2146, U=4.2761E-2, V=1.7983E-2, and W=2.6768E-2.2.2.2.2.2.

  • The vegetation and landscape of Hokkaido were phytosociologically referred. The region of F a g e t e a c r e n a t a e on Hokkaido is divided into two types of deciduous broad-leaved forest: the oak (Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata) forests mixed with conifers (mainly Abies sachalinensis) and the beech (Fagus crenata) forests of northernmost distribution in far-east Asia. The oak forests, which is dominated by Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata in Japanse islands, seem to be developed from different climatic and edaphic conditions, especially in the amount and sharing pattern of precipitation in a year, and weak acid brown forest soil, volcanic ash soil and sandy soil. On the all-inclusive phytogeographical view-point, Hokkaido is situated at northernmost region of F a g e t e a c r e n a t a e (cool-temperate zone)neighboring with subarctic and subalpine vegetation, vegetation, but the evergreen broad-leaved forest (C a m e l l i e t e a j a p o n i c a e, warm-temperate zone) is abscent.

  • G- and C-banding pattern analyses of striped field mice (Apodemus agrarius coreae) using 17 specimens from four localities in Korea revealed that centromeric heterochromatin results in the variation of No. 1 chromosome pair (telocentri $c_telocentric), i.e., centromeric heterochromatin sometimes appeared to be recognized as short arm. G- and C-banding patterns of four black rats (R. rattus rufescens) from two localities in Korea showed that No. 1 chromosome polymorphism (telocentri $c_telocentric) is due to pericentric inversion. In addition, G- and C-banding patterns of black rats mentioned above are idiogrammed.ammed.

  • Objectives: Pulse-Respiration Ratio has been used for estimating subject's Han-Yeol [寒熱] status since it mentioned in suwen [素問]. In practicing Pulse-Respiration Ratio over 5 means the status of Yeol [熱], Pulse-Respiration Ratio below 3 means the status of Han [寒]. We performed this study to examine the Optimum Standard for Measuring Pulse-Respiration Ratio on the Basis of Repeatability and Reproducibility. Methods: After subject's 5 minutes rest we measured subject's ECG, respiration pattern, EEG, EMG simultaneously. In this research examiner's number is two, subject's number is four, and the number of repeat is two. We calculated Pulse-Respiration Ratio through dividing Respiration cycle average by Pulse cycle average according to each standard including time section, $EEG(relative-{\alpha}$ density, $relative-{\beta}$ density, ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ and EMG. We analyzed these data through Gage R&R study using MINITAB 13.20 program and considered the results of below 30 %R&R and over 4 Number of Distinct Categories to have a significance. Results: 1. In the applying of time standard, Pulse-Respiration Ratio from section 3, 4, 6, 8 had a significant meaning in the aspect of Repeatability and Reproducibility. 2. In the applying of $EEG({\alpha}$ I , ${\beta}$ I , ${\alpha}/{\beta})$, EMG(E I) standard, there was no significant results. 3. In the applying of time standard(section 5, 6, 7), $EEG({\alpha}$ I , ${\beta}$ I , ${\alpha}/{\beta})$ and EMG(E I) standard simultaneously, Pulse-Respiration Ratio from ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ in section 6, ${\beta}$ I in section 8 had a significant meaning in the aspect of Repeatability and Reproducibility. Conclusions: We can suggest the Optimum Standard for Measuring Pulse-Respiration Ratio on the basis of Repeatability and Reproducibility as followings; 1. Pulse-Respiration Ratio Measuring time should be at least 15 minutes. 2. Applying of time(section 6, 8) and $EEG({\beta}$ I, ${\alpha}/{\beta})$ standard simultaneously is recommended considering reliability and validity but more study is needed. 3. EMG(E I) may be helpful to detect the segment of physical rest and exclude artifacts but more study is needed.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate 1) the effects of Selenium(Se), Vitamin E (Vit. E) or recombinant Bovine Somatotropin(rBST) administration on fresh and frozen/thawed semen characteristics and 2) the effect of taurine on frozen/thawed semen characteristics in Hanwoo sires Hanwoo sires were randomly assigned to five groups (1. control, 2. rBST, 0.09mg/kg body weight (BW), 3. Vito E 1,500IU/kg BW, 4. Se 0.l mg/kg BW, 5. Vit. E 1,500IU plus Se 0.1 mg/kg BW). The administration of Se, Vit. E and rBST for each experimental group were given 6 times at 15 days interval by intramuscular injection. The administration of Se, Vit. E or rBST in Hanwoo sires didn't affect semen volume and pH values, but sperm viability was significantly increased comparing to the control group. Also, frozen/thawed semen analysis showed that the sperm viability increased, but any other effects were not found in total sperm :lumber, motility and abnormality among treatments. The addition of taurine in semen freezing extender had a beneficial effects on frozen/thawecl semen characteristics in all groups. The administrations of rBST, Vit. E and Se did not affect the sperm capacitation and acrosome reaction, either the ratio of F pattern(uncapacitated and acrosome intact sperm) or AR pattern(capacitated and acrosome-reacted sperm), but the ratio of B patten(capacitated and acrosome intact sperm) of treatment groups was significantly higher than that of control group, These results indicated that the viability, motility and quality of semen in Hanwoo sires were slightly increased by the injection of rBST, Vit. E and Se, and the addition of taurine in semen freezing extender were also increased the semen characteristics after thawing.

  • A collection of 12 Erwinia carotovora strains from blackleg diseased potato in Jeju island was characterized genetic diversity by 5. cayotovora subsp. atposeptica (Eca)-specific PCR, PCR-RFLP of the two genes (16S rRNA and pel) and repetitive sequence PCR (ERIC-PCR). The results were compared with those of the other E. carotovora representative strains. None of the blackleg strains produced PCR amplicons with Eca-specific primers in contrast to the single 690 bp amplicon obtained with Eca strains. In addition, on the basis of pel gene RFLP with Sau3AI, the blackleg strains belonged to the pattern 2 whereas Eca strains belonged to the other one (pattern 3). By analysis of 16S rDNA RELP generated with HinfI, the most strains including the E. carotovera subsp. carotovora (Ecc) representative strains used in this study belonged to the pattern 1 whereas the blackleg strains belonged to the pattern 2 except for one strain. Moreover, ERIC-PCR analysis showed that the blackleg strains were closely related to each other and had an unique DNA band. Based on these molecular approaches, we have confirmed that the blackleg disease of potato is caused by a different E. carotovora from Eca and Ecc in Jeju island.

  • The Theory of Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC) has been recently extended to the case of Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBFs) with inverted Y-scheme, i.e., EBFs with vertical links. In this paper a further validation of the design procedure, based on TPMC, is provided by means of Incremental Dynamic Analyses (IDA) pointing out the fulfilment of the design goal, i.e., the development of a pattern of yielding consistent with the collapse mechanism of global type where all the links are yielded and all the beams are yielded at their ends while all the columns and the diagonal braces remain in elastic range with the only exception of the base sections of first storey columns. In particular, a study case is designed according to both TPMC and Eurocode 8 provisions and the corresponding seismic performances are investigated by both push-over and IDA analyses. The results show the different performances obtained in terms of pattern of yielding, maximum interstorey drift, link plastic rotation demand and sharing of the seismic base shear between the moment-resisting part and the bracing part of the structural system. The seismic performance improvement obtained by means of TPMC, compared to Eurocode 8 provisions, is pointed out.
