  • In this paper, we have investigated the hydrogen effects on Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) as an LC alignment layer of the FFS mode. By change of a Hydrogen content in the DLC sputtering process, the image sticking and electro-optic characteristics of Black-White panel with DLC / IB technology were examined.

  • We studied the electrical, optical and structural properties of microcrystalline silicon thin films prepared by a new chemical vapour deposition technique, called filament assisted(FA)-CVD. The microcrystalline silicon is sucessfully deposited when the hydrogen dilution ratio exceeds 30. The Raman peak at 520 cm-1 and the X-ray diffraction peak at 27.7\ulcorner0.2\ulcornerbecome sharper with increasing hydrogen dilution ratio. We obtain high quality microcrystalline Si by FA-CVD with optical gap of \ulcorner2.2eV and hydrogen content of \ulcorner3 at %.

State of Art Report on the Trends of Welding Consumable Development for Higher Strength Steels

  • This report was prepared to give informations on a proper way to develop new consumables for the steels with improved weldability. Traditionally, hydrogen control has been pursued mainly for suppressing the HICC in HAZ but it also has contributed to HICC in weld metal. Facing the limitations in reducing the hydrogen content, it is now important to consider the microstructural control approach in order to improve the HICC resistance of weld metal . It has been shown that changes in alloy design, and hence composition and microstructure, was quite effective in producing high strength weld metal with improved resistance to cold cracking. Besides the economic test methods for evaluating susceptibility of multipass weld metal is essential to promote the development of welding consumables.

  • Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) films have been deposited, for thye first time, by a remote plasma chemical vapor deposition. The hydrogen radical play a important role to control the deposition rate, The bonded hydrogen content to silicon is independent of hydrogen partial pressure in the plasma. Optical gap of deposited a-Si:H lies between 1.7eV and 1.8eV and all samples have sharp absorption edge. B-doped a-Si:H films by a RPECVD has a high doping efficiency compared with plasma CVD. The Fermi level of 100ppm B-doped film lies at 0.5eV above valence band edge.

열화학적 방법에 의한 초미립 TiC-15%Co 분말의 합성 (Synthesis of Ultrafine TiC-15%Co Powder by Thermochemical Method)

  • Ultrafine TiC-15%Co powders were synthesized by a thermochemical process, including spray drying, calcination, and carbothermal reaction. Ti-Co oxide powders were prepared by spray drying of aqueous solution of titanium chloride and $Ti(OH)_2$ slurry, both containing cobalt nitrate, fellowed by calcination. The oxide powders were mixed with carbon powder to reduce and carburize at 1100~125$0^{\circ}C$ under argon or hydrogen atmosphere. Ultrafine TiC particles were formed by carbothermal reaction at 1200~125$0^{\circ}C$, which is significantly lower than the formation temperature (~1$700^{\circ}C$) of TiC particles prepared by conventional method. The oxygen content of TiC-15%Co powder synthesized under hydrogen atmosphere was lower than that synthesized under argon, suggesting that hydrogen accelerates the reduction rate of Ti-Co oxides. The size of TiC-15%Co powder was evaluated by FE-SEM and TEM and Identified to be smaller than 300 nm.

환경기초시설에서 발생하는 악취가스 제거에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Removal of Odor Emitting Environmental Fundamental Facility)

  • The objective of the research project is to develop the hybrid deodorizer for the removal of residual harmful gases generating during pretreatment process of biogas. This hybrid deodorizer is capable of treating harmful gases that contains hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$), ammonia ($NH_3$) and other odor substances. This hybrid deodorizer reduced the hydrogen sulfide content from approximately 150~200 ppm to less than 16 ppm. These residual harmful gases were effectively removed in the effluent, achieving up to 97% removal of $H_2S$ and 94% removal of $NH_3$ after treatment using hybrid deodorizer.

황-요오드 수소 제조 공정의 분젠 반응 부분에서 $O_2$의 역할 (The Role of Oxygen in Bunsen Reaction Section of Sulfur-Iodine Hydrogen Production Process)

  • The Sulfur-Iodine (SI) thermochemical hydrogen production process of a closed cycle consists of three sections, which are so called the Bunsen reaction section, the $H_2SO_4$ decomposition section and the HI decomposition section. To identify the role of oxygen that can be supplied to the Bunsen reaction section via the $H_2SO_4$ decomposition section, Bunsen reactions with a $SO_2,\;SO_2-O_2$ mixture and $SO_2-N_2$ mixture as feed gases were carried out using a stirred reactor in the presence of $I_2/H_2O$ mixture. As the results, the amounts of $I_2$ unreacted under the feed of mixture gases were higher than those under the feed of $SO_2$ gas only, and the amount of HI produced was relatively decreased. The results of Bunsen reaction using $SO_2-O_2$ mixture were similar to those using $SO_2-N_2$ mixture. It may be concluded that an oxygen in $SO_2-O_2$ mixture has a role as a carrier gas like a nitrogen in $SO_2-N_2$ mixture. The effects of oxygen were decreased with increasing temperature and decreasing oxygen content in $SO_2-O_2$ mixture.

황-요오드 열화학 수소 생산 공정에서 니켈-백금 이원금속 촉매를 이용한 요오드화수소 분해 특성 (Charateristics of Hydrogen Iodide Decomposition using Ni-Pt Bimetallic Catalyst in Sulfur-Iodine Process)

  • This study was performed to develop a low Pt content catalyst as a catalyst for HI decomposition in S-I process. Bimetallic catalysts added various amounts of Pt on a silica supported Ni catalyst were prepared by impregnation method. HI decomposition was carried out using a fixed bed reactor. As a result, Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst showed enhanced catalytic activity compared with each monometallic catalyst. Deactivation of Ni-Pt catalyst was not observed while deactivation of Ni monometallic catalyst was rapidly occurred in HI decomposition. The HI conversion of Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst was increased similar to Pt catalyst with increase of the reaction temperature over a temperature range 573K to 773K. From the TG analysis, it was shown that $NiI_2$ remained on the Ni(5.0)-Pt(0.5)/$SiO_2$ catalyst after the HI decomposition reaction was decomposed below 700K. It seems that small amount of Pt in bimetallic catalyst increase the decomposition of $NiI_2$ generated after the decomposition of HI. Consequently, it was considered that the activity of Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst was kept during the HI decomposition reaction.

  • R. sphaeroides K- 7에 의한 수소생성과 질소고정효소(nitrogenase)와의 연관성을 조사한 결과 수소생성은 질소고정효소에 의해 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수소생성은 수소효소(hydrogenase)와 무관하며 박테리오클로로필의 농도와도 무관한 것으로 나타났다. 글루타민산이 in vivo에서 질소고정효소의 활성도를 조절하는데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며 질소개스를 이용해 키운 세균을 글루타민산 존재하로 옮겼을때 보다 큰 정도의 수소생성능 및 질소고정효소 활성도가 나타났다.

불활성 가스하 열건조에 따른 금속시험편의 수소잔류물 거동 분석 (Variation of Hydrogen Residue on Metallic Samples by Thermal Soaking in an Inert Gas Environment)

  • Hydrogen penetration into a metal leads to damages and mechanical degradations and its content measurement is of importance. For a precise measurement, a sample preparation procedure must be optimized through a series of studies on sample washing and drying. In this study, two-step washing with organic solvents and thermal soaking in inert gas were tried with a rod-shaped, API X65 steel sample. The samples were machined from a steel plate and then washed in acetone and etyl-alcohol for 5 minute each and dried with compressed air. After then, the samples were thermally soaked in a home-made nitrogen gas chamber during 10 minute at different heat gun temperatures from 100 to $400^{\circ}C$ and corresponding temperature range in the soaking chamber was from 77 to $266^{\circ}C$ according to the temperature calibration. Hydrogen residue in the samples was measured with a hot extraction system after each soaking step; hydrogen residue of $0.70{\pm}0.12$ wppm after the thermal soaking at $77^{\circ}C$ decayed with increase of the soaking temperature. By adopting the heat transfer model, decay behavior of the hydrogen residue was fitted into an exponential decay function of the soaking temperature. Saturated value or lower bound of the hydrogen residue was 0.36 wppm and chamber temperature required to lower the hydrogen residue about 95% of the lower bound was $360^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, a thermal desorption spectroscopy was done for the fully soaked samples at $360^{\circ}C$. Weak hydrogen peak was observed for whole temperature range and it means that hydrogen-related contaminants of the sample surface are steadily removed by heating. In addition, a broad peak found around $400^{\circ}C$ means that parts of the hydrogen residue are irreversibly trapped in the steel microstructure.
