  • As customers are becoming increasingly important in corporate management, there is a growing demand for migration to customer-focused organizational structures. Unlike the manufacturing industry, the construction industry is non-iterative and non-standardized. As a result, a wide variety of materials, human resources, technologies and equipment must be mobilized in complex work activities to complete a structure. Consequently, surprises are bound to occur as such work activities progress. This paper intends to study a strategy that is designed to improve customer services for apartment building units. It aims primarily to focus on cost control and brand management. Housing tenants and industry experts are surveyed to collect input for issue analysis. In addition, the external circumstances and internal capabilities of major builders in Korea are analyzed, and a SWOT analysis is performed regarding market conditions related to customer service. These analysis results are utilized to develop a strategy implementation plan over different time frames, and the operational resources available for such strategy implementation are analyzed in order to forecast its performance. This research will facilitate communication between construction companies in Korea and their customers by proposing a customer service improvement strategy for apartment building units, and is expected to provide resource material for a strategic analysis of efforts to fully incorporate customer requirements

  • This study investigated the location of grading lines and grading amount for a jacket item by the target age groups (20-30, 30-40, and 40-50) for 17 women's wear brands. This study then utilized 7th SizeKorea data to analyze the increase rate of body size and to suggest the grading deviation distribution ratio of the jackets using regression analysis. The increase in neck girth of the jackets targeting aged 30-40s did not reflect the human body change rate. The shoulder length increased by 4.6%-8.1% with the bust girth increase; however, the brands produced longer shoulder length reflecting 20-35% of the bust girth increase. The armhole girth was 54.9% - 59.7% of bust circumstance increase rate. However, the 20-30 target age group brands distributed 80% of bust girth to armhole girth and the 30-40 and the 40-50 target age group brands distributed 50% of the bust girth to armhole. In particular, the 20-30 target age group brands were found to produce a large margin around the armhole. When it came to length items, the brands targeting 20-30s and the 40-50s reflected deviation distribution rate of length from underarm to waist and length from waist to hip in comparison with the overall jacket length deviation. The 30-40 target age group brands, 8 out of 20 brands distributed the jacket length deviation in the length from the back of neck to the underarm; consequently, only 22% percent should be distributed in this part.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the meanings of signs represented in contemporary fashion based on the Peirce's trisection theory in order to present various types of sign representation that satisfies aesthetic value and characteristics of the age of information and image. Types of signs represented in contemporary fashion can be summarized into letters, numbers, codes, pictures, logos, characters and emblems. The meanings of signs were analyzed based on the Peirce's trisection theory, resulting in representation of play, brandsymbol, eroticism and suggestion. The play was categorized into infantile and parodic. The former inspires unexpected interest and laughter from contemporary people in the age of disorder through humorous characters, cartoons and illustrations. The latter inspires laughter by parodying things and it's intention is to release the isolation of people and their relative poverty through pictures for which techniques of parody and surrealism were used. Most of the brandsymbols represented by logos, used for textile and clothing design as well as accessories are optimal signs that construct brand images. Eroticism means emotion, impulses, senses of value and sexual attraction. A desire to represent sexual attraction is an expression of eroticism and self-expression to adjust in a changing society. Suggestion tends to pursue the image of harmony with nature in a world which is pressed by material civilization. Humans represent illuminating messages through direct slogans by characters, natural objects and motives of social phenomenon in pursuit of the benefits of abundant material civilization in the structure of a highly advanced scientific civilization and industrial society.

  • Purpose: While empirical importance of dimensionality of perceived value is widely accepted, our understanding of experiential value dimensions in other retail channels and other cultures has not been explicitly tested. This study attempted to determine if the dimensions of experiential value scale (EVS) by Mathwick, Malhotra, and Rigdon (2001) identified in US catalog and Internet contexts could be applied in other international markets (South Korea) and in other retail channels (department store versus Internet shopping mall). Methodology/Approach: Two data sets, one from 220 department store shoppers and the other from 359 Internet shopping mall shoppers, were analyzed. Findings: Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed four different EVS dimensions by retail channels. Overall, entertainment and intrinsic enjoyment values were found to be more important in department store while economic and efficiency value dimensions were interpreted critical in Internet shopping mall context. Visual appeal aspect constitutes distinct value dimension in two channels. Practical Implications: One separate dimension of time efficiency in Internet shopping mall suggests that more efficient web design and functions that can save time and promote convenience are needed to better accommodate their customers. Internet has heavily relied on traditional attributes, such as factual information, price comparability, and brand name reliance. However, this study suggests that Internet shopping mall retailer should offer visual diversion and stimulation just as brick and mortar shopping malls do. Originality /Value of Paper: Although the research findings must be viewed as tentative because the results are from one country, they provide a rich basis for further understanding the dimensions of experiential value in other international markets and other retail channels. • PURPOSE. Perceived color of ceramics changes by the spectral power distribution of ambient light. This study aimed to quantify the amount of shifts in color and color coordinates of clinically simulated seven all-ceramics due to the switch of three ambient light sources using a human vision simulating spectroradiometer. MATERIALS AND METHODS. CIE color coordinates, such as $L^*$, $a^*$ and $b^*$, of ceramic specimens were measured under three light sources, which simulate the CIE standard illuminant D65 (daylight), A (incandescent lamp), and F9 (fluorescent lamp). Shifts in color and color coordinate by the switch of lights were determined. Influence of the switched light (D65 to A, or D65 to F9), shade of veneer ceramics (A2 or A3), and brand of ceramics on the shifts was analyzed by a three-way ANOVA. RESULTS. Shifts in color and color coordinates were influenced by three factors (P<.05). Color shifts by the switch to A were in the range of 5.9 to 7.7 ${\Delta}E{^*}_{ab}$ units, and those by the switch to F9 were 7.7 to 10.2; all of which were unacceptable (${\Delta}E{^*}_{ab}$ > 5.5). When switched to A, CIE $a^*$ increased (${\Delta}a^*$: 5.6 to 7.6), however, CIE $b^*$ increased (${\Delta}b^*$: 4.9 to 7.8) when switched to F9. CONCLUSION. Clinically simulated ceramics demonstrated clinically unacceptable color shifts according to the switches in ambient lights based on spectroradiometric readings. Therefore, shade matching and compatibility evaluation should be performed considering ambient lighting conditions and should be done under most relevant lighting condition.

  • This research analyzed characteristic changes in trading areas and the success factors of popular fashion trading areas (Garosu-gil, Dongdaemun, and Itaewon). This research adopts a social network analysis method to semantically analyze trading areas. Articles on the three fashion trading areas were located through KrKwic software to extract keywords and calculate word frequency. Keywords with high frequency were placed through NodeXL software to identify relationships among keywords. Researchers created a network of relationships among trading areas and between past and present of trading areas to analyze and visualize. In the past (2008-2009), the trading areas of Dongdaemun, Garosu-gil and Itaewon were placed horizontally with a limited number of shared keywords between them. However, the three trading areas retain diverse rage of keywords and an organic realtionships five years later (2013-2014). Compared to the past, all three areas see the emergence of relevant fashion keywords such as 'designer', 'design', 'brand'. Additional cultural keywords such as 'culture/art/performance', 'exhibition', and 'event' have commonly appeared and imply that related industries are an important factor as well. Fashion companies that consider evaluating areas for a new store opening need to understand the trading area characteristics and select the most suitable area. In addition, it is necessary to equip the trading area with basic fashion elements as well as relavant industry when the government tries to develop fashion trading areas.
