  • This is an attempt to reflect on humanity in the post-human era. Here, I think that the question of future human beings should be critically raised in the following two meanings. First, can post-humans recover the body, emotions, nature and women's voices suppressed by modern enlightened subjects? Second, can post-humans preserve humanity by fighting inhumanity without presupposing human essence or immutable foundations? In answer to these questions, I will have a dialogue with M. Heidegger(1889-1976), W. Benjamin(1892-1940), Th. W Adorno(1903-1969). The three philosophers looked at the inhuman world situation brought about by modern subjects and technology, and found the possibility of new human beings. The three philosophers' new human image are the three possible models of post-humanism, 'a human being as ek-sistence' (Heidegger, Chapter 2), 'the man who restored the similarity with the other through innervation' (Benjamin, Chapter 3), 'A human being who negates the inhuman society' (Adorno, Chapter 4), and examines the current status of each. In conclusion, as long as the fourth industrial revolution is developed as a system of digital capitalism that controls the world as a whole from human senses, impulses, and unconsciousness, the necessity of the post-human era is aesthetic authenticity.

  • Human endogenous retroviral long terminal repeats (LTRs) have been found to be coexpressed with sequences of genes located nearby. It has been suggested that the LTR elements have contributed to the structural change or genetic variation of human genome connected to various diseases. The HERV-W family has been identified in the cerebrospinal fluids and brains of individuals with schizophrenia. Using a cDNA library derived from a human brain, the HERV-W LTR elements were examined and five new LTR elements were identified. These elements were examined using a YAC clone panel from the Xq21.3 region linked to psychosis that was replicated on the Y chromosome after the separation of the chimpanzee and human lineages. Fourteen elements of the HERV-W LTR were identified in that region. Those LTR elements showed a high degree of sequence similarity ($91.8-99.5\%$) with previously reported HERV-W LTR. A phylogenetic tree obtained from the neighbor-joining method revealed that new HERV-W LTR elements were closely related to the AXt000960, AF072504, and AF072506 from the GenBank database. The data indicates that several copy numbers of the HERV-W LTR elements exist on the Xq21.3 region and are also expressed in the human brain. These LTR elements need to be further investigated as potential leads to neuropsychiatric diseases.

  • This paper deals with the difference between human sensibility collected from real product and that through graphic image(photographs and graphic images on CRT monitor) on the same automotive interior. The objective of this study is to verify the possibility that, If there are some restrictions in collecting human sensibility through real product directly, they can be overcome by using graphic image instead, making it easy to collect and analyze human sensibility so as to reflect consumers sensibility in the design of automotive interior, and also comparing the result between real product and graphic image on CRT monitor in order to confirm the potentiality of developing a remote human sensibility survey system through Internet. Therefore two experiments were conducted and the object for experiments was limited to automotive interior. The analysis results showed that there were significant differences between graphic image and real product in case of total interior and IPC(Instrument Panel Center) and no significant difference in case of display panel. Also, there were no significant difference when the subject group was female(housewife). To conclude, we can infer, in case of display panel, that it is possible to replace real product with graphic image to extract similar results on human sensibility and to collect human sensibility through Internet.

  • Human can update the memory with new information not forgetting acquired information in the memory. ART(Adaptive Resonance Theory) does not need to change all information. The methodology of ART is followed. The ART updates the memory with the new information that is unknown if it is similar with the memorized information. On the other hand, if it is unknown information the ART adds it to the memory not updating the memory with the new one. This paper shows that ART is able to classify sensory information of a certain object. When ART receives new information of the object as an input, it searches for the nearest thing among the acquired information in the memory. If it is revealed that new information of the object has similarity with the acquired object, the model is updated to reflect new information to the memory. When new object does not have similarity with the acquired object, the model register the object into new memory

  • In this paper, a novel approach that makes use of both shape and color information to retrieve character images in terms of similarity distance from a large-capacity image database or from a streaming image database, in particular, character image logo or trademark. In order to combine both features of completely different characteristics bipartite matching has been employed in computing similarity distance, The proposed method turned out to bealso very effective in matching natural object or human-drawn images whose shape varies substantially.

  • Process fault diagnosis is a complicated matter because quality control problems can result from a variety of causes. These causes include problems with electrical components, mechanical components, human errors, job justification errors, and air conditioning influences. In order to make the system run smoothly with minimum delay, it is necessary to suggest heuristic remedies for the detected faults. Hence, this paper describes a heuristic methodology of fault diagnosis that is performed using statistical patterns generated by quality characteristics The proposed methodology is described briefly as follows: If a sample pattern generated by random variables is similar to the number of prototype patterns, the sample pattern may be matched by any prototype pattern among them to be resembled. This concept is based on the similarity between a sample pattern and the matched prototype pattern. The similarity is calculated as the weighted average of squared deviation, which is expressed as the difference between the relative values of standard normal distribution to be transformed by the observed values of quality characteristics in a sample pattern and the critical values of the corresponding ones in a matched prototype pattern.

  • Basically, modern architect's translation of relations between architectural space and human beings is focused upon the space and the way the space is experienced. Thus, the architecture is construed not as the finalized and fixed structure but as something undetermined and In progress. Here, we can identify the similarity between current trend and theory on process. Experience argument in this study is based upon such a similarity. And for your understanding of the spatial concept broached in the following experience argument, I've presented the analysis of Ben van Berkel's and Kazuyo Sejima's works that represent user's experiences in discussing art works. Taking a step further, I'll try to provide the true definition of being in progress and the potential of the architecture, thereby seeking the value and meaning of trends in modern architecture. In this regard, this study is aimed to analyze the attributes of experiences in progress identified in the art works of Ben van Berkel and Kazuyo Sejima and to extract and analyze the architectural concepts therein.

  • This paper examines whether the Global Vector model is applicable to Korean data as a universal learning algorithm. The main purpose of this study is to compare the global vector model (GloVe) with the word2vec models such as a continuous bag-of-words (CBOW) model and a skip-gram (SG) model. For this purpose, we conducted an experiment by employing an evaluation corpus consisting of 70 target words and 819 pairs of Korean words for word similarities and analogies, respectively. Results of the word similarity task indicated that the Pearson correlation coefficients of 0.3133 as compared with the human judgement in GloVe, 0.2637 in CBOW and 0.2177 in SG. The word analogy task showed that the overall accuracy rate of 67% in semantic and syntactic relations was obtained in GloVe, 66% in CBOW and 57% in SG.

  • A new human endogenous retroviral family (HERV-S) has recently been identified from human X chromosome. It is 6.7 kb in length and has a typical retroviral structure with LTR-gag-pol-env-LTR. Using the PCR and sequencing approach, we investigated LTR elements of the HERV-S family from a human genomic DNA. Four LTR elements (HSL-1, HSL-5, HSL-10, HSL-11) were identified and have a high degree of sequence similarity(96-99%) with that of the HERV-S. Phylogenetic analysis from the HERV-S family indicated that the LTR elements were mainly divided into 2- groups through evolutionary divergence in the primate evolution. Further investigation of the HERV-S LTR elements in primates may cast light on the integration timing into the primate genome and understanding of human evolution.
