  • Recently, there has been increasing interests on strategic orientation and intellectual capital as measures of competitiveness and their impacts on firm performance. However, there was little research which verify empirically the relationships among strategic orientation, intellectual capital and firm peformance. This research scrutinizes the effects of strategic orientaion on intellectual capital and firm performance. Based on literature review, research model and hypotheses are developed and empirically tested. The results are as follows. First, market orientaion and entrepreneurial orientation have positive effects on human capital, structural capital and customer capital which compose intellectual capital. Second, market orientaion and entrepreneurial orientation do not influence firm performance directly, but indirectly influence firm performace via intellectual capital. Third, the hypothesis about the relationship between intellectual capital and firm performacne is partially accepted. Only customer capital affects firm performance. Discussions and implications are followed.

  • Purpose: This study suggests a SCQM model for the national Defense field based on earlier studies on the Quality Management of supply chain and to identify critical activities factors of supply chain that makes effect on the business results. Also, this study analyzed moderating effects of performance sharing between businesses which is becoming the big issues with regard to the supply chain cooperation. Methods: A causality of qm activities factor of SCQM model affecting benefit sharing and business performance was analyzed by using structural equation model. A company used in analysis performed a survey by targeting 297 Defense SMEs(weapon-system/non-weapon system). Results: As a result of analyzing the influence relationship between key activity of SCQM on finance performance, it was identified that Management Infra(MI), Process Management(PM), Human Resource Management(HRM), Performance Sharing activity(PS) made significant effect on Financial Performance, and Human Resource Management(HRM) and Performance Sharing(PS) activity made effect on non-financial Performance. Conclusion: The four variables(MI, PM, HRM, PS) of Defense SCQM were significantly effecting Financial performance and two variables(HRM, PS) were significant effected non-Financial performance. We also proved the moderating effect of performance sharing.

  • This paper aims to analyse and appraise the effect of human performance to the variation of quality through constructing the dynamic recursive control model considering the human factor in a single production system. The model studied in this paper has a great advance from the point of combinating three technologies(quality control, automatic control theory, human engineering) and can also be expanded in several applications.

  • This study was conducted to analyze job importance, performance level, and job satisfaction of school and office foodservice dietitians. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 181 dietitians in the Chungnam area. Statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS v. 14.0. School dietitians were 55% and office dietitians were 45%. Of both, age of 20s and 30s scored 85%; the age of 30s of schools dietians scored 70% while those in office dietians 20s scored 79%. More than 84% of school and office dietitians were university graduates. Total average of job importance of school dietitians was 4.24 and job performance was 3.97 while that of office dietitians was 4.15 and job performances was 3.69. A duty that had a big difference in job importance and performances as a dietitian was 'education of nutrition' (p<.001) and 'self-improvement' (p<.001). According to the meal service except, importance and performances of duties showed a significantly high level (p<.001) for office dietitians, but most measures of job importance and performances showed a high level at school. Therefore, in order to improve job performances and satisfaction for school dietitians, it is necessary to develop systematic and professional education programs for qualification improvement and to grow pride and improve treatment as a nutrition teacher through expansion of appointment. Meanwhile, for office dietitians, it is required to strengthen duty education of 'human resource management' and 'meal service management' through education and supplementary training in companies, on which personal characteristics are reflected.

  • The purpose of this study is to present and identify the relationship for the effects of performance-based human resource practices on the organizational effectiveness with focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises around Shandong province of China. The performance-based human resource practice factors include selective employment system, education training system, evaluation system, compensation system and the career promotion ladder opportunity system. As a result, among ten hypotheses, six hypotheses turned out to be the meaningful approaches. In addition there exist some human factors that interfere with the fairness of the evaluation due to the regional and personal factors, assessment system difference among firms. Finally the compensation system and organizational investment for increasing or decreasing will critically affect the enthusiasm of the staff members of firms, and the less invested for thema, the greater the likelihood of their turnovers.

  • Support Vector Machine (SVM) is one of powerful learning machine and has been applied to varying task with generally acceptable performance. The success of SVM for classification tasks in one domain is affected by features which represent the instance of specific class. Given the representative and discriminative features, SVM learning will give good generalization and consequently we can obtain good classifier. In this paper, we will assess the problem of feature choices for human detection tasks and measure the performance of each feature. Here we will consider HOG-family feature. As a natural extension of SVM, we combine SVM with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to reduce dimension of features while retaining most of discriminative feature vectors.

  • We propose a novel framework for markerless camera-based games. By using a visual camera, our method may yield robust human body segmentation with high performance comparable to the segmentation using depth cameras. The edges of human bodies are detected by subtracting gradient backgrounds, and human body regions are segmented by the operations based on mathematical morphology. Collisions between detected regions and virtual objects are determined by finding the colliding time using intra-frame positions of virtual objects. Experimental results show that the proposed method may produce robust segmentation of human bodies, thereby and the collision responses are more accurate than previous methods. Therefore, the proposed framework can be widely used in camera-based games requiring high performance.

  • In order to catch the relationship between psychophysiological symptoms and human work performance, the ERP technique was adopted as a measure, and two different tasks - a counting task and an Odd-Ball task were conducted. According to the results, the P300 amplitude during the counting task was not so high as that during the Odd Ball task, and correct response corresponded with stable ERP with high P300 amplitude whereas wrong response with unstable, fluctuating ERP with low P300 amplitude, Therefore it was concluded that it would be possible to grasp the symptoms of human errors with the help of psycho-physiological technique.

  • This paper describes a technique for human sensibility evaluation using EEGs of 4 emotions. The proposed method uses the linear predictor coefficients as EEG feature parameters and a neural network as sensibility pattern classifier. For subject independent system, multiple templates are stored and the most similar template can be selected. EEG signals corresponding to 4 emotions such as relaxation, joy, sadness and anger are collected from 5 armature performers. The states of relaxation and joy are considered as positive sensibility and those of sadness and anger as negative. The classification performance suing the proposed method is about 72.6%. This may be promising performance in the human sensibility evaluation.
