Data was collected by self-reporting questionnaire. Analysis of the data was done by SAS program, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson-Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The average score for the health-promotion behavior was 104.64. In the subcategories, self-actualization showed the highest degree of performance and physical exercise showed the lowest degree of performance. 2. In the relation of general characteristics of subjects to the level of health-promoting behavior, the male, the married, the group with several symptoms showed a high level of health-promoting behavior. 3. The relationship between the degree of performance in health-promotion behavior and its correlates were as follows: Self-efficacy was positively correlated to health promotion behavior, while the perceived barrier was correlated negatively. But the perceived benefit did not show a significant correlation with health promotion behavior. Results suggest that the development of programs with strategies to strengthen doing physical exercise and concerning health, increase self-efficacy and exclude the barriers to health promotion is recommended to individuals seeking a comprehensive health check-up.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a comprehensive health promotion program for North Korean young adult defectors in South Korea. Methods: The comprehensive health promotion program consisted of nutrition, mental healthcare, physical activity and sexual behavior was developed on the basis of need assessment results. For the evaluation of the program, 70 North Korean young adults who were attending two alternative schools for North Korean defectors were recruited. The program had taken place once a week for 13 or 19 weeks. Effectiveness of the health promotion program was evaluated using anthropometric measurement, 3-day food records and a questionnaires that comprised the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the Short Form with 36 questions (SF-36) and health behaviors. The surveys were proceeded at the beginning and after the program. Results: After health promotion program, participants' height was significantly increased (p=0.004) and body fat mass (0=0.004) and percentage of body fat mass (p=0.003) were significantly decreased. The number of subjects who ate breakfast alone was decreased whereas the number of subjects who ate breakfast with friends was increased (p<0.001). There were no significant changes in dietary intakes, mental health status and quality of life. North Korean young adult defectors' willingness to participate and interests in the health promotion program were high, however the practice rate was low. Conclusion: The health promotion program could induce interests and willingness to participate, but bring about limited effects on the health behaviors. These results imply that a health promotion program for North Korean young adult defectors should have a long-term strategy as well as short-term plan. Furthermore, it should be based on their health problems, health related behaviors, academic performance and daily life matters.

  • A Health Promotion Center (HPC) whose capacity is partially idle causes inefficiency in resource usage of a country as well as the hospital itself. Meanwhile, Increased demand in HPC would lead to increased revenue for the HPC as well as reduced national expenditures on healthcare. We introduced a way to enhance revenue by Revenue Management (RM) on HPC services, in which demand forecasting and pricing strategies are considered. In addition, a real data analysis had been performed to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed approach.

  • Social deficits are the most critical and core deficits of the children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder(ASD) and they are qualitatively as well as qualitatively different from typically developing children. It is proposed that the attachment between the mother and the autistic child should be promoted foremost and early as possible, to improve social deficits, just like early social developments in normal children depend largely on interactions between the mother and the child who are attached to each other we have developed an interventional program, 'Attachment Promotion Therapy', largely based on the attachment theory. The Attachment promotion Therapy mandates the participation of both the mother and the autistic child, and consists of mutually enjoying play activities, close physical contacts and parental training on intense mother-child interactions, focusing on improving maternal sensitivity, responsiveness, and nurturing behaviors during their interactions. The program was found to be effective in improving attachment behaviors, attachment security and acquiring joint attention skills. Attachment Promotion Therapy is therefore proposed here as the important earliest intervention method for children with ASD and could become the base for many other educational and therapeutic interventions.
