전이성골암에 의한 통증에 대한 Salmon Calcitonin($Miacalcic^{(R)}$) 비강분무의 효능 및 안정성 (Effect and Tolerability of Nasal Spray of Salmon Calcitonin in the Relief of Pain due to Bone Metastasis)

  • Metastaic bone tumors are usually accompanied with severe pain. The treatment modalities for this pain are so variable that patients are sometimes afraid of using them. Salmon calcitonin has a function to increase beta-endorphines followed by increasing the blood level of prostaglandin and thromboxan A2, which results in analgesic effect. This drug also has been known to decrease bone resorption. There were a few reports that parenteral use of salmon calcitonin decrease the pain from metastatic bone tumor. We wanted to know the effectiveness and tolerability of nasal spray of salmon calcitonin in relieving bone pain with metastatic tumor. We analyzed the effectiveness in the aspects of pain, sleep, performance status, mobility, supplementary analgesic use. The biologic effect of salmon calcitonin was analysed with CBC, Ca/P, BUN/Cr, uric acid. Simple radiography, alkaline phosphatase, osteocalcin, pyrilink-K were used as parameters for bone change. Eighteen cases of metastatic bone tumors took nasal spray of salmon calcitonin($Miacalcic^{(R)}$, 200IU/day) for 4 weeks, to relieve bone pain. With Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed Ranks Test, we could find pain decreased significantly at 3 week and mobility become improved at 4 week of salmon calcitonin use. Other parameters didn't show any significant changes. We think the analgesic effect is mainly due to effect not on the local bone lesion but on the central nervous system, and that increased dose of salmon calcitonin can induce earlier and stronger analgesic effect.

Long-term Variations of Chemical Properties in Controlled Horticultural Soils of Gyeongnam Province

  • The monitoring of chemical dynamic changes in controlled horticultural lands is very important for agricultural sustainability. Field monitoring was performed to evaluate the soil chemical properties of 200 controlled horticultural soil samples in Gyeongnam province every 4 years from 2000 to 2012. Soil chemical properties such as pH, amount of organic matter, available phosphate, nitrate nitrogen, and exchangeable potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sodium were analyzed. The amount of exchangeable calcium and soil pH were significantly higher in 2012 than in 2000. In 2012, the frequency distribution for values of pH, organic matter, available phosphate, and exchangeable potassium, calcium, and magnesium that were within the optimum range was 16.0%, 22.5%, 11.5%, 3.5%, 2.5%, and 5.0%, respectively. Especially, available phosphate and exchangeable calcium were excess level with portions of 76.0% and 96.5%, respectively. These results indicated that a balanced management of soil chemical properties can reduce the amount of fertilizer applied for sustainable agriculture in controlled horticultural lands.

  • Since tunnel construction order was placed one by one, various sensors and actuators installed at the RTU and higher level system in each tunnel maintenance office had their own protocols depending on construction company. The TGMS testbed established on the extended region of Yong-dong Highway, for example, did not have consistent protocol between each automation levels and management levels without considering the functions and/or roles of each level. The management sever in each tunnel was simply networked to the TGMS server. Therefore, it is impossible to implement a new control algorithm as well as to integrate each other since each tunnel was constructed by different company. So, if the construction company is out of business, there is no way to maintain the corresponding tunnel effectively. In order to solve this problem, all the necessary standard protocols was established between automation level and management levels. These interface standards provide the clear classification between individual tunnel system and tunnel management system. So, even if construction company is different, its effect is minimized, so that it is expected to successfully establish PC based TGMS.

중학교 이차방정식 단원에서 조선시대(朝鮮時代) 수학사(數學史)의 활용에 대한 연구 (A Study on Application of Mathematics History of Chosun Dynasty to a Quadratic Equation of Middle School)

  • 본 연구는 중학교 이차방정식 단원에서 조선시대(朝鮮時代) 수학사(數學史)를 효과적으로 활용하기 위해 먼저, 수학교육에서 수학사의 활용과 중학교 수학 교과서에서 다루고 있는 수 학사의 유형 및 그 내용을 살펴보고, 조선시대의 수학자인 경선징(慶善徵), 홍정하 (洪正夏), 이상혁(李尙赫) 등이 제시하는 이차방정식의 구성과 해법에 대해 조사하여 중학교 수학에서 활용할 수 있는 방법에 대해 알아보았다. 이와 같은 조선시대 수학사는 이차방정식에 대한 이해를 높이고 풀이에 대한 흥미와 동기를 유지시키기 위한 자료, 활용 단계에서 개념적 사고와 반성적 사고를 고취시키기 위한 자료로 활용할 수 있다.

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the expression of cardiac marker protein in rabbit cardiac tissue that was exposed to ischemic preconditioning (IPC), or ischemiareperfusion injury (IR) using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). We compared 2DE gels of control (uninjured) cardiac tissue with those of IPC and IR cardiac tissue. Expression of one protein was detected in IR heart tissue, however the protein was not detected in the samples of control and IPC tissue. To further characterize the detected protein molecule, the protein in the 2D gel was isolated and subjected to trypsin digestion, followed by MALDI-MS. The protein was identified as myoglobin, which was confirmed also by Western blot analysis. These results are consistent with previous studies of cardiac markers in ischemic hearts, indicating myoglobin as a suitable marker of myocardial injury. In addition, the present use of multiple techniques indicates that proteomic analysis is an appropriate means to identify cardiac markers in studies of IPC and IR.

개의 십이지장에서 발생한 골수 외 형질세포종양 (Duodenal Extramedullary Plasmacytoma in a Dog)

  • This report deals with a 9-year-old neutered male Yorkshire terrier that had been suffered from vomiting, bloody diarrhea, anorexia. On exploratory laparotomy, pale-pink $10{\times}6cm$ duodenal mass was found and submitted to the Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University. Histologically, the duodenal mass consisted of compact sheet of poorly demarcated, highly infiltrative neoplasm. The neoplastic cells were round to polygonal and contained scant to moderate amounts of granular basophilic cytoplasm and eccentrically located irregularly round nuclei with stippled chromatins. The neoplastic cells were positive to lamda light chain immunohistochemically but were uniformly negative for toluidine blue stain and giemsa stains. Based on these results, this case was diagnosed as primary extramedullary plasma cell tumor of duodenum.

  • We fabricated ramp-edge Josephson junctions with barriers formed by interface treatments instead of epitaxially grown barrier layers. Low-dielectric Sr$_2AITaO_6$(SAT) layer was used as an ion-milling mask as well as an insulating layer for the ramp-edge junctions. An ion-milled YBa$_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO)-edge surface was not exposed to solvent through all fabrication procedures. The barriers were produced by structural modification at the bottom YBCO edge using plasma treatment prior to deposition of the top YBCO electrode. We investigated the effects of pre-annealing and post-annealing on the characteristics of the interface-treated Josephson junctions. The junction parameters were improved by using in-situ RF plasma cleaning treatment.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial Applications of Novel Copolymeric Silver Nanocomposite Hydrogels

  • Copolymeric silver nanocomposite hydrogels were synthesized by using acryloyl phenylalanine (APA), N'-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and crosslinked by N,N-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) via radical redox polymerization. Present study allows entrapping silver nanoparticles into hydrogel networks. UV-visible spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies confirmed the formation of silver nanoparticles in hydrogel matrix. 11% of weight loss difference between hydrogel and silver nanocomposite hydrogel is clearly indicates the formation and silver nanoparticles by thermo-gravimetrical analysis. The order of swelling capacity values of hydrogels and silver nanocmposite hydrogels were found to be in the order of placebo copolymeric hydrogel >Ag-copolymeric silver nanocomposite hydrogels. The particle size of silver nanoparticles was analysed and are in the range of 5 - 10 nm which has been confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as particle size analysis. The silver nanocomposite hydrogel has shown very good antibacterial activity on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteriocides.

PI제어계 기반 전치보상기 및 PD제어기의 설계 (Design of pre-compensator and PD controller based the PI control system)

  • PID제어기가 산업현장에서 많은 잇점 때문에 이용되고 있다. 그러나 제어계의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 PID제어기를 변형시킨 여러 가지 제어기법들이 연구개발 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PI제어계에 전치보상기와 PD제어기를 부가한 전치 보상기를 갖는 PI-PD제어계를 제안하였다. 그리고 정규화법으로 제안한 제어계의 전달함수의 영점과 극점의 소거로 간단한 1차계가 되도록 하였다. PI제어기 및 제어대상전달함수의 계수 값을 이용하여 전치 보상기 빛 PD제어기를 설계 할 수 있도록 하였다. 시뮬레이션의 결과로 제안한 제어계의 유효성을 확인하였다.
