  • Objectives: The quadrant theorem is a theorem proposed by C. M. Guzay in the field of functional, holistic dentistry. There are not much of scientific literature on the quadrant theorem. This study briefly reviewed basic concepts of quadrant theorem. Methods: A publication by Guzay and research articles were searched and reviewed. The quadrant theorem is depicted as a series of illustrations and accompanied explanations. Results: The primary concept of the quadrant theorem was presented in 1952. Based on geometric biophysics of the occlusion and related anatomical functions, physiological pivotal axis of the mandible is analyzed to occurs at the dens (the sub-atlas area). Composite muscular activity links the mandibular posture with C1-C2, which is then linked with the spinal posture. Twenty illustrations are progressively presented on the physiognomy, occlusion, and analysis of anatomical functions. The balanced distribution of the forces gives the durability of the functions in life. Conclusions: The quadrant theorem provides a functional linkage between the mandibular posture and the upper cervical vertebrae.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore a self-diagnostic indicator for measuring a healthy family by adopting the theme of "happiness", which has surfaced as the most interesting in many academic fields recently. Though the basic concept of a healthy family may be shared by everyone, the criterion of happiness varies from one family to another. Therefore, it is desirable that the tool be made in such a way that every member of the family can check their health from a holistic perspective, rather than diagnosing health and happiness from the perspective of professionals. So, this study was aimed at diagnosing a family by using a tool named GAMMA model, so each family member can recognize problems and find the best options to solve it. This study. has a significant meaning in that it has tried to diagnose families by introducing the GAMMA model into domestic science for the first time.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyse the intonational meaning of various sentences based on the English Intonational Phonology, and to show the superiority of Intonational Phonology in explaining the intonational meanings in comparison with the other existing intonational theories. The American structuralists and British schools which attempt to describe the intonation in terms of 'levels' and 'configurations' respectively, analyze intonational meaning from a holistic perspective in which an utterance cannot be divided into smaller parts. On the other hand, Intonational Phonology considers English intonation as composed of a series of High and Low tones, and as a result, intonational meaning is interpreted compositionally as sets of H and L. In this paper, the phonological relations between intonation and its meaning from the compositions of pitch accents, phrase accents, and boundary tones which consist of an intonational tune are discussed.

  • This study deals with the overall meta-cognitive aspects of ATC-Pilot miscommunications pertinent to cognitive human errors based on the previous literature research which it has been focused on the issue of the global aviation English use in regard with aircraft accident and incident. Especially, it addresses the concern over the ICAO aviation English language proficiency evaluation program which will be implemented globally in March, 2008. In addition, It presents the analysis related to the on-going English language proficiency level four test conducted for Korean civil airlines pilots and air traffic controllers.

  • This study aims to investigate the presence/absence of subjects in the area of finance insurance sector in the past and corresponding areas of the courses in accordance with the reform of Korean school mathematics curriculum. In addition, the study had analyzed the linkage to the curriculum of the subjects for the Junior High, and High School in accordance with the school mathematics as mathematical knowledge base. As the results of this study, it was identified that the knowledge of mathematical contents addressed in the school mathematics education had a very high connectivity as basic mathematical knowledge to understand and utilize high level of the insurance mathematics required for the job performance in the finance insurance sector.

  • This article aims at revealing the dynamic relationships between the energy R&D investment and economic growth in Korea. To achieve this goal, we reviewed the effects of energy R&D investments and tried to make the holistic interconnections for describing the feedback loops between energy R&D and economic system. Energy R&D investments develop the renewable energy, energy efficiency and $CO_2$ emission reductions technologies for accomplishing the national strategic targets. The rapid obsolescence of technologies makes the inefficiency and negative effects in governmental energy R&D investments.

  • This paper presents the general system theory and its applications to the safety analysis method that is a recent trend over the traditional event-driven model. This new model is known as STAMP(Systems Theory Accident Modeling and Process) proposed by Nancy G. Leveson in MIT. The new model has benefits o f systemic approaches concerning the system safety as a whole including the context it is in, its stimulants and outcomes, and its parts as well as the relationships among them in a holistic manner. The method consists of a hierarchical control structure, a process model, and the safety constraints governing the control. This paper demonstrates an example that contrasts the differences between the approaches of STAMP and the traditional safety models.

  • The use of robots in tourism and hospitality contexts have drawn increasing scholarly and practical regard. Although the number of recent robotics related studies continue to grow, a general knowledge map, which is important to point out promising directions for future studies, remains to be made. To understand the application of robotics in tourism and hospitality, this study conducts descriptive and bibliometric analysis to present a holistic knowledge map of this specific field where research trend, key contributors, highly cited references, and popular themes were identified. Collaboration networks among institutes and regions were additionally illustrated. Collaboration across fields, industries, and perspectives were encouraged following the findings and both theoretical and practical implications are accordingly provided.

"Innovative pedagogical technology". The blocks that make up the innovative processes in education are studied. The importance and role of innovations in education (vocational education) are clarified. The components of pedagogical technology are studied: conceptual, content-procedural and professional. The signs of classifications of pedagogical technologies are investigated. The stages of evolution of the definition of "pedagogical technology", as well as the levels of its application in pedagogical science are highlighted. Criteria of manufacturability and signs of pedagogical technology are investigated. The algorithm for the analysis of pedagogical technology is investigated: identification of technology; name of technology; conceptual principles; the content of education; activity characteristics; organizational and methodological support of the educational process. Pedagogical technologies that should be implemented in vocational education institutions are analyzed.

  • Construction is one of the most hazardous industries due to its unique nature. Recent occurrences of highly publicised and criticized construction site accidents have highlighted the immediate need for the construction industry to address safety hazards. Safety used to be addressed as an isolated issue in the past, but the problem of safety is an emergent property of a system. In general, it seems that both industrial practitioners and government officials have tended to address safety by focusing on technical aspects and looking for immediate causes of accidents after they have taken place. The objective of this paper is to examine issues and critical factors that affect the safety standards from a holistic point of view. The job of making worksites safe should not just fall squarely on the contractors but should be shared by all parties in the value chain of construction activities.
