Autopilot Design for a Target Drone using Rate Gyros and GPS

  • Cost is an important aspect in designing a target drone, however the poor performance of low cost IMU, GPS, and microcontrollers prevents the use of complex algorithms, such as ARS, or INS/GPS to estimate attitude angles. We propose an autopilot which uses rate gyro and GPS only for a target drone to follow a prescribed path for anti-aircraft training. The autopilot consists of an altitude hold, roll hold, and path following controller. The altitude hold controller uses vertical speed output from a GPS to improve phugoid damping. The roll hold controller feeds back yaw rate after filtering the dutch roll oscillation to estimate the roll angle. The path following controller operates as an outer loop of the altitude and roll hold controllers. A 6-DOF simulation showed that the proposed autopilot guides the target drone to follow a prescribed path well from the view point of anti-aircraft gun training.

IPO가 우회상장보다 정보효율성이 더 높은가? : 코스닥시장을 중심으로 (Is IPO More Efficient Than Back-door-listing? : Case of Korean Kosdaq Market)

  • 본 연구에서는 2003년~2005년 기간에 코스닥 시장에서 발생한 두 가지 자본시장 진입수단인 IPO와 우회상장을 대상으로 벤치마킹 대비 단기 및 장기 초과보유수익률을 분석하고, 차이점과 의미에 대해 논하였다. 우회상장은 M&A의 성격을 띠고 있지만 동시에 IPO의 성격도 갖고 있다. IPO는 거래소가 제시한 상장요건을 맞춰야 하는 등 제도적인 간섭을 받기 때문에 제도에 의한 자본시장 진입방법이라고 할 수 있다. 반면 우회상장은 이러한 제도의 간섭은 미미하고 당사자 간의 거래에 의하여 진입여부가 결정되기 때문에 거래에 의한 자본시장 진입방법이라고 할 수 있다. 제도가 완전시장을 저해한다는 상식에 기초한다면우회상장이 IPO보다 우수한 진입방법이라고 판단할 수 있지만, 반대로 IPO는 우회상장에 비해 정보의 비대칭성을 줄이고 부실한 기업의 시장진입을 통제할 수 있다는 면에서 장점이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 정보의 효율성 면에서 IPO가 우수하다는 본문의 주장을 지지하고 있다. 먼저 IPO 기업과 우회상장 기업은 모두 초기에는 높은 초과수익률을 기록하고 장기적으로는 둘 다 저성과를 보이나 우회상장 기업의 장기성과가 더욱 하락하였다. 또한 두 표본 모두 사건 이후 3년 간의 회계적 성과가 하락하였으나 특히 우회상장 기업은 더욱 하락하였으며 모든 기간에서 손실을 기록하였다. 이는 과잉수요(fad)가 코스닥 시장의 IPO는 물론 우회상장에서도 똑같이 존재하며, 우회상장의 경우에는 과대포장(window dressing)의 가능성이 더욱 높음을 뜻한다. 결국 IPO보다는 우회상장이 상장시점에서 회사와 투자자 사이에 더욱 심한 정보의 비대칭성을 보이고 있음을 시사한다.

만성요통의 적정 치료를 둘러싼 논란: 중재적 치료 대 보존적 치료 (The Controversy Regarding the Optimal Management of Chronic Low Back Pain: Interventional vs. Medical Treatment)

  • Chronic non-specific low back pain (CLBP) is one of the major health problems casting substantial amount of economic expenses and negative impact on quality of life onto an individual as well as society. On contrary to public familiarity, the ways of management of CLBP are diverse and there is yet no general consensus about which approach is better than others or to whom the specific management should be applied. Some hold the negative point of view on the efficacy of the invasive maneuver such as epidural injection because there is no controlled clinical trial (RCT) yielding better long term outcome of those invasive managements over conservative ones. But the experts of interventional or surgical treatment stress the methodological difficulty in performing RCT and assert that those invasive treatments can bring the prompt and complete resolution of low back pain and restoration of function in appropriately selected cases. These seemingly opposite views on the invasive management on CLBP are rather complimentary each other than to be contradictory.

Should We Start Treating Chronic Low Back Pain with Antibiotics Rather than with Pain Medications?

  • For those of us who have read the 2 recently published articles by a Danish - British research group, it might appear that we are observing an impending paradigm shift on the origins of chronic low back pain. The results of this research indicate, that chronic low back pain associated with bone marrow edema in vertebral endplates that are adjacent to herniated intervertebral discs may be caused by infections with anaerobic bacteria of low virulence. According to these articles, treatment with certain antibiotics is significantly more effective than placebo against this low back pain. If these findings are to hold true in repeat studies by other researchers, they stand to fundamentally change our concepts of low back pain, degenerative disc disease and in consequence the suitable therapies for these entities. It may in fact require pain specialists to become familiarized with the details of antibiotic treatments and their specific risks in order to be able to properly counsel their patients. While this seems hard to believe at first glance, bacteria have been implicated in the pathogenesis of other conditions that do not primarily impose as infectious diseases such as gastric ulcers. While the authors refer to a few previous studies pointing into the same direction, the relevant research is really only from one group of collaborating scientists. Therefore, before we start prescribing antibiotics for chronic low back pain, it is imperative that other researchers in different institutions confirm these results.

한 발 서기 시 복부 압박 벨트가 요통 환자의 정적 균형에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Abdominal Compression Belt on Static Balance During One Leg Standing in Low Back Pain Patients)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to measure static balance of low back pain patients while one-leg standing in abdominal compression belts. Methods: The study included 40 adult males and females at J university, divided into a low back pain patient group and a normal group through the Oswestry disability questionnaire (ODQ). The subjects were instructed to hold a one-leg standing posture for 15 seconds on a balance measurement plate while wearing an abdominal compression belt. Shifting distance (0.1 cm), mean velocity (cm/s), pressure, and contact area were analyzed using BioRescue (BioRescue, RMINGEIEIRIE, Rodez, France). The average value was used to measure the result 3 times for each condition. Results: Both normal and low back pain groups significantly decreased in the speed of sway while wearing the abdominal compression belt. Furthermore, the pressure of the center of motion significantly decreased in the low back pain groups while wearing abdominal compression belt. However, there were no significant differences in the speed of sway or the pressure of center of motion between groups after wearing the abdominal pressure belt. Conclusion: These results suggest that abdominal compression belts are one option for improving balance temporarily. However, balance after wearing abdominal compression vests depends on onset of back pain, age, and symptoms of pain in the groups with low back pain. Further research is needed to investigate muscle activity, dynamic balance, and the effect of the period of wearing abdominal compression belts in the variety of low back pain patients.

비대칭무게중심을 지닌 물체 들기 작업시 허리부위 등근육 부하 및 피로 분석 (The Analysis of Low Back Loading and Muscle Fatigue while Lifting an Asymmetric Load)

  • This study is aimed to show that an asymmetric load in the frontal plane leads to an increase in low back loading and fatigue in comparison with a symmetric load when workers lift an external weight by investigating previous studies and verifying the phenomenon with an experiment. Ten male subjects are required to lift and hold an given external load at 70cm height during 50sec, then the EMG amplitude and median frequency on bilateral low back muscle groups (Longissimus, Iliocostalis, and Multifidus) are recorded and analyzed. Independent variables are two-level load weight (13kg, 20kg) and three-level LCG (Center, 6.5cm to the right, and 13cm to the right), and dependent variables are EMG amplitude average, difference, and Fatigue Index (FI). Results show that load weight increases significantly amplitude average and FI, but LCG does significantly amplitude difference and FI significantly (P-value < 0.05). Also the correlation coefficient between amplitude difference and FI is over 0.99. These implies that trunk loading should be explained by not EMG amplitude but muscle fatigue aspect since the association between an external load and amplitude is linear, but the relationship between an external load and median frequency as muscle fatigue index is almost exponential.

The effects of short persistent CCFL in Blinking Back Light Unit to reduce blur on TFT-LCD

  • In applying LCD to TV application, one of the most significant factors to be improved is image sticking on the moving picture. LCD is different from CRT in the sense that it's continuous passive device, which holds images in entire frame period, while impulse type device generate image in very short time. To reduce image sticking problem related to hold type display mode, we made an experiment to drive LCD like CRT. We made articulate images by turn on-off backlight, and we realized the ratio of Back Light on-off time by adjusting between on time and off time for video signal input during 1 frame (16.7ms). Conventional CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) cannot follow fast on-off speed, so we evaluated new fluorescent substances of light source to improve residual light characteristic of CCFL. We realized articulate image generation similar to CRT by blinking drive. As a result, reduced image sticking phenomenon was validated by naked eye and response time measurement.

지상파 VOD 다시보기 홀드백연장과 TV 콘텐츠 시청행태에 관한 시계열 추세 연구 - IPTV 및 디지털케이블TV를 중심으로 (A Study on the Effects of the Extension of Terrestrial TV VOD Hold-back on the Viewing Behavior focusing on IPTV & Digital Cable TV)

  • 본 연구는 IPTV와 디지털케이블 사업자가 제공하는 VOD의 시청행태와 지상파 VOD 다시보기 서비스의 추세를 시계열로 분석하고 함의를 제시하는 연구이다. 연구자는 실제 미디어 플랫폼 사업자의 데이터를 바탕으로 VOD 실적을 추세 분석하였으며, 계절적 요인으로 1월과 8월에 피크 값의 반복이 진행됨을 확인하였다. 또한 개별 지상파들은 드라마 등의 히트 프로그램에 의해 본방 시청률과 VOD의 시청에 영향을 받는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 지상파, 영화, 어린이 VOD의 관계를 시계열로 분석하고, 지상파VOD의 구매가 하락세인 것을 확인하였다. 당초 지상파와 플랫폼사업자는 본방송 시청률을 높이고 유료VOD 구매를 확대할 목적으로 홀드백 연장을 하였으나, 연구결과 오히려 시청자의 본방송 시청과 VOD 시청 모두 구매 욕구를 감소시킨 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 연구자는 본연구가 미디어사업자들이 향후 시청자를 고려한 미디어 정책을 제시하는데 도움이 되길 기대한다.

넌블럭킹 $Multi-Log_2N$다중 접속망 : 이론적 특성 및 광 교환시스템을 위한 설계예 (A Nonblocking $Multi-Log_2N$ Multiconnection Network : Theoretical Characterization and Design Example for a Photonic Switching System)

  • 본 논문에서는 부가적인 단들을 갖는 경우와 갖지않는 경우의 자체 부팅이 가능한 단일 망이 넌 블럭킹 $Multi-Log_2N$ 다중 접속망이 되기 위해 몇 개가 필요한가에 관한 조건들을 제시한다. 얻어진 조건들은 일대일 접속 또는 다중 접속 망에 관계없이 적용됨을 증명하여 다중 접속망에 관한 조건을 구하는 미 해결 문제들(Open problems)을 해결한다. 특히 얻어진 조건 중에는 Benes망과 Cantor 망을 각각 특정한 경우로 포함하는 흥미있는 결과가 제시된다. 그리고 종래의 광 교환 시스템 구조에서 문제가 되었던 중앙 집중형 호 분배 제어를 해결하는 분산화된 호(Call) 분배 알고리즘을 제시하고디렉셔널 커플러(Directional coupler)를 사용한 새로운 광교환 시스템의 구조를 제시한다. 특히 실제 교환망의 갯수가 넌 플럭킹 $Multi-Log_2N$ 망이 되기 위해 필요한 수보다 적을 경우에 각각의 호가 블럭킹을 유발하지 않는 상황에서 교환되도록 하는 디렉셔널 커플러를 이용한 디멀티플래셔(Demultiplexer)를 제시한다.

Thruster Loop Controller design of Sun Mode and Maneuver Mode for KOMPSAT-2 (ICCAS 2004)

  • In order to successfully develop attitude and orbit control subsystem(AOCS), AOCS engineer performs hardware selection, controller design and analysis, control logic and interface verification on electrical test bed, integrated system test, polarity test, and finally verification on orbit after launching. Attitude and orbit control subsystem for KOMPSAT-2 consists of standby mode, sun mode, maneuver mode, science mode, and power safe mode to stabilize and to control the spacecraft for performing the mission. The sun mode is usually divided into sun point submode, earth search submode and safe hold submode. The maneuver mode is divided into attitude hold submode and ${\triangle}$ V submode, while the science mode divided into science coarse submode and science fine submode. Moreover, it is added to back-up mode which uses wheels as an actuator for sun mode and maneuver mode. In this paper, we describe the controller design process and the performance of the design results with respect to the sun mode and the maneuver mode based on thrusters as an actuator using on flexible model.
