Acoustic Noise and Vibration Reduction of Coreless Brushless DC Motors with an Air Dynamic Bearing

  • This paper presents the acoustic noise and mechanical vibration reduction of a coreless brushless DC motor with an air dynamic bearing used in a digital lightening processor. The coreless brushless DC motor does not have a stator yoke or stator slot to remove the unbalanced force caused by the interaction between the stator yoke and the rotor magnet. An unbalanced force makes slotless brushless DC motors vibrate and mechanically noisy, and the attractive force between the magnet and the stator yoke increases power consumption. Also, when a coreless brushless DC motor is driven by a $120^{\circ}$ conduction type inverter, high frequency acoustic noise occurs because of the peak components of the phase currents caused by small phase inductance and large phase resistance. In this paper, a core-less brushless DC motor with an air dynamic bearing to remove mechanical vibration and to reduce power consumption is applied to a digital lightening processor. A $180^{\circ}$ conduction type inverter drives it to reduce high frequency acoustic noise. The applied methods are simulated and tested using a manufactured prototype motor with an air dynamic bearing. The experimental results show that a coreless brushless DC motor has characteristics of low power consumption, low mechanical vibration, and low high frequency acoustic noise.

  • The insulation diagnostic tests was performed at local thermal power plants high voltage motor. The insulation diagnostic tests include measurements of insulation resistance, polarization index, AC current, $tan{\delta}$, partial discharges. This paper describes the difference of insulation characteristics for high voltage motor makers.

Power of motor is made up of the torque and speed. So, if the motor which is the same size and shape is designed to raise speed, power and power density are increase.

  • The existing Swash Plate Type Axial Piston Motor rapidly drops efficiency at high speed in comparison with low speed. This is the reason why the motor was designed only in a viewpoint of minimum of power supply. But, in this paper, the motor which was optimally designed in a veiwpoint not only power supply but also load capacitancy, flow loss volume, axial stiffness and tilting stiffness keeps up high efficiency at high speed.

  • 전동공구는 동력원인 모터를 이용하여 각종 구조물을 제조 가공하는데 사용되는 공구로 전기를 동력원으로 한 모터를 사용하여 감속장치, 동력전달 및 변환장치 기능을 내장시켜 도구에 회전, 왕복, 진동 운동을 시킴으로써 사용자의 동작기술을 보조하는 역할을 하도록 한 공작용 도구이다. 우리나라의 경우 전동공구 산업은 역사가 짧아서 독일이나 미국, 일본 등 선진국에 비하여 기술수준과 시장 점유율, 인지도 등이 뒤떨어지고 있다. 또한 국내에서 사용되는 전동 Driver는 미국, 유럽 나라의 해외제품으로 국내시장 또한 100% 해외업체 것을 선호하며 다국적 기업들이 국내 시장에 많은 투자를 하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 국내 기술개발과 지속적으로 높은 시장점유율을 확보하기 위해서는 기술적인 개발이 뒤따라야 한다. 본 논문에서는 전동공구의 기본요구 성능에 맞춰 모터의 성능, 소형화, 고속도의 고출력 성능을 가지는 전동기 Driver를 설계하여 최종적으로 산업용 및 의료용에 적용할 수 있는 개발품을 연구하는데 목적을 두고 있다.

  • The inverter fed BLDC(Brushless DC) motor has been increasingly applied to industry and home appliances due to the advance of power electronics and permanent magnet technology, and its high efficiency and good acoustic noise characteristics. The BLDC motor and drives, however, require the rotor position sensors that may cause some problems such as the high cost and space. In this paper, sensorless algorithm for an interior permanent magnet BLDC motor is proposed. The maximum torque per ampere operation with advance angle considering load torque and speed was simulated and verified through the experiment.

  • Power MOSFET is developed in power savings, high efficiency, small size, high reliability, fast switching, and low noise. Power MOSFET can be used in high-speed switching transistors devices. Recently attention given to the motor and the application of various technologies. Power MOSFET is a voltage-driven approach switching device and designed to handle on large power, power supplies, converters, motor controllers. In this paper, the 400 V Planar type, and the trench type for realization of low on-resistance are designed. Trench Gate Power MOSFET Vth : 3.25 V BV : 484 V Ron : 0.0395 Ohm has been optimized.

  • In this paper, we derived the formula for estimating the power of the electric motors needed to operate the Decanter-type centrifuge. In the derivation of the formula the sludge-removal torque is to be supplied from the formula derived in the first paper. The intricate nature of the transmission mechanism in the planetary gear trains of the sludge-removal power and torque has been clarified in this second paper. In particular we considered two-motor system, where the main motor drives the machine while the differential-speed control motor plays the role of braking in adjusting the differential speed. Sample calculation for the specific design treated in the first paper showed that the selection criterion for the main motor depends on the lower limit of the differential speed; when the lower limit is set low, it should be selected based on the steadily operating power, while it should be selected based on the starting power when the lower limit is set high. The total power required by both the main motor and the differential-speed control motor increases as the differential speed is decreased. It is suggested that the power loss in the differential-speed control motor could be minimized by attaching an electric generator to it.

Analysis on the Switching Surge Characteristics of a High-Voltage Induction Motor Fed by PWM Inverter Using EMTP

  • The PWM inverter drive may cause an over voltage at the motor terminal, which imposes severe electric stresses on the inter-turn insulation of motor windings. Unlike low-voltage induction motors, high-voltage induction motors have a stator type of form-wound coil for insulation and are insulated to the slot and the coil. So, this paper presents a PWM 3-level inverter, H-Bridge cascaded 7-level inverter and High-voltage induction motor model. It then analyzes the voltage that generates at the input terminal of the high-voltage induction motor fed by each inverter. Also, in order to examine a factor that influences the switching surge voltage, this paper proposes the system equivalent model and performs the case studies using EMTP.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) offers the advantages of simple and robust motor construction, high speeds and high efficiencies over a wide operating range of torque and speed, excellent controllability. However, SRM has the disadvantages of high current harmonics, and low power factor because of a capacitor filter is inserted in the power converter and inductance of SRM is high, it has pulse waveform of current. This paper deals with an energy efficient converter fed SRM system with the reduced harmonics and improved power factor and with higher efficiency. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified via experiment. We are implemented the proposed control system using 80C196KC micro-controller.
