Detection of Series Arc Signal in Low-voltage Systems (저압계통에서 직렬아크신호의 검출)

  • This paper described the design and fabrication of a series arc detection module to monitor electrical insulation in low-voltage system. The module consists of a passive high-pass filter with a low cut-off frequency of 3 kHz to attenuate power frequency voltage by 80 dB and an active band-pass filter with a frequency of 4 kHz to detect series arc signals only. For the application experiment, we simulated series arcing phenomena on various loads such as incandescent lamp controlled by dimmer and inverter fed induction motors by an arc generator specified in UL1699. From the experimental results, we could detect series arc signals without an influence of noises.

  • This paper presents a feasibility study of an advanced IO board design for the next generation of low-earth orbit satellites. Advanced IO board design includes sensor interface, NO, D/A, Digital Module, Serial Module etc, and allows to process increasing data rates between IO board and CPU board. The higher data rate involved in modem IO board additionally introduce issues such as noise, fault tolerance, command and data handling, limited pin count and power consumption problems. The experience in KOMPSAT-l and 2 program with this kind of problems resulted in using SMCS chip set, a high speed serial link technology based on IEEE-1355 (Space Wire Protocol) (ESA-ESTEC 2003, Parkes 1999), as a standard for next generation of satellite IO board design.

  • In this paper, we develop protype of wierless recognition system using low frequency. Application of this system is very broad. Namely, High-way toll gate, animal management, parking system and industral automation et al. This system is composed of controller, decoder and tag. Controller is personal PC, decoder is signal module and tag is mobile corresponder module. Modulation is ASK, 4,800bps, frequency is 120/60kHz and transmission length is about 80cm. And now we study improvement of stability, low power consumption, compact of tag and transmission length improvement.

  • In contrast to a conventional transformer, the flat transformer is made using a number of small ferrite cores. Two cores for transformer and one core for inductor, which composed one module. Many modules can be connected together to form a flat matrix transformer. This structural arrangement eliminates the single hot spot problem in conventional transformers and permits high current density pertains at high frequency. In this study, the ferrite magnetic cores of Mn-Zn system for the Flat transformer were manufactured and the electrical and magnetic characteristics of its tested. The power loss of sample FO2(Mn-Zn ferrite) sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ was $350kW/m^3$ in test conditions of 250kHz, 200mT and $100^{\circ}C$, which showed the good power loss property in high frequency. The power loss of FO2 samples has been studied as a function of magnetic flux density and frequency. Steinmetz exponent was 2.82 at 250kHz and 2.73 at 500kHz. These results illustrated the switching of power loss mechanism in ferrite core from hysteresis losses to eddy current losses or others.

  • Recently, although the power consumption of the flyback converter at the light load and standby power load was minimized by the burst mode operation of PWM IC, flyback converter has still the low efficiency characteristics by the high magnetizing current flowing through magnetizing inductance of transformer. This paper proposes a novel flyback converter with an improved efficiency characteristics and the reduced magnetizing current at the light load and standby power load. Prototype of the 70W multi-output flyback converter for an auxiliary power module of 50 inch PDP TV is built and the experimental results are described.

  • Recently, regulation for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) such as IEC 61000-3-2, IEEE 519 is being reinforced about a product which directly connects to AC line in order to prevent distortion of common power source in electronic equipment and electrical machinery. In order to satisfy these regulations, conventional circuits were used two-stage structure attached power factor correction circuit at ahead of converter but this method complicate the circuit and then a number of element increases thereupon the cost of production rises. in this paper, we propose a high efficiency single-stage 300W PFC fly-back converter that improved power factor and efficiency than conventional two-stage power module.

  • LED lighting, which many companies are pursuing commercialization, is a representative green energy technology. However, the LED lighting for broadcasting image should have high output and easy portability compared with general LED lighting devices for street lamps, advertisement or transportation devices. Therefore, while shooting a broadcast image if you use LEDs as a substitute light source for halogen lamps and fluorescent lamps that are large in size and uncomfortable to handle it is expected that the lightening of the equipment will activate the broadcasting image lighting equipment industry. After considering the mass production of the LED module board and the SMT production size of the chip mounter, the board size was determined considering the overall size of the product by model. In this paper, four 20W LED boards are arranged vertically in order to produce an 80W board. In other words, by sharing LED module board size by model, high power LED lighting equipments of 120W and 200W can be selected as an increase in the number of boards.

  • Sudden earthquake is changing national energy stratagem for future energy resource. In case Germany, current nuke power station will be shut down with several decades. Newly constructed build in Japan must have photovoltaic system as a obligations.. As a long-term sustainable energy one, PV should give confidence to customers up to more than 20 years. Today, IEC 61215 and IEC 61646 standards are representative one for ensuring performance and safety of PV module. But it is still needed to develop more realistic test method. For example, if we think about extreme condition like desert and North Pole, the temperature condition describe in test standards can have little effect on life time expectation of PV module. Installation speed of PV system is very high, but establishing test standards are very complex and not easy. So in this paper, I tried to open the long-term test method for PV module to ensure 25 year's old life time. It is just starting point of PV related long-term test methods. The specific and technical explanation will be shown in the following paper in detail.

Analysis of Comparison Test and Measurement Error Factor for I - V Performance of Photovoltaic Module (PV모듈 발전성능 비교시험과 계측편차 요인 분석)

  • In this experiment, we did sampling 6 kinds of photovoltaic modules and analyzed the discrepancy of measurement results between l laboratory and 4 PV makers to have performance repeatability at Standard Test Condition(STC) condition. From the KIER's results, Korea's standard test laboratory, other laboratory showed -10% measurement variation. The causes came from correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Form the comparison test, we analyzed the problems. But three PV maker reduced measurement variation, other one PV maker and one test laboratory didn't improve the problems of correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Also, High Efficiency Module had a big discrepancy of -10.0$\sim$-6.2% among 3 laboratories which have a less than 10msec light pulse duration time. This made low spectrum response speed so the Fill Factor decreased maximum output power under 10msec light pulse duration time

First Wall Design of ITER Test Blanket Module(TBM) based on RCC-MR Code (RCC-MR 코드에 기반한 ITER 시험증식블랑켓 일차벽 설계)

  • The Helium cooled ceramic reflector(HCCR) test blanket module(TBM) has been designed and developed to participate the ITER(International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) test blanket program in Korea. The TBM was one of the main objectives for developing ITER for proving the tritium self-sufficiency and the heat transfers to produce the electricity with the breeding blanket concept. Among the TBM components, the first wall(FW) was the most important component in safety since it was directly faced a high level of a heat and fast neutrons from the plasma side and could protect the others components inside TBM. In this paper, the FW has been designed through the thermo-mechanical analysis considering ITER operation conditions. With the developed simple models, the stress limit analysis based on RCC-MR code which is the nuclear power plant design codes in France was evaluated for the allowable design criteria. The results showed that the designed FW model satisfied $1.5S_m$ or $3S_m$ of the allowable stress($S_m$) in RCC-MR code at the maximum stress region in the FW.
