Experiment and numerical calculation have been peformed to investigate mixed convection heat transfer between inclined parallel plates. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) with thermo-sensitive liquid crystal (TLC) tracers is used for visualizing and analysis. This method allows simultaneous measurement of velocity and temperature fields at a given instant of time. Quantitative data of the temperature and velocity are obtained by applying the color-image processing to a visualized image, and neural network is applied to the color-to-temperature calibration. The governing equations are discretized using the finite volume method. The results are presented for the Reynolds number ranges from 0.004 to 0.062, the angle of inclination, ${\Theta}$, from 0 to 45 degree and Prandtl number of the high viscosity fluid is 909. The results show velocity, temperature and mean Nusselt numbers distributions. It is found that the periodic flow of mixed convection between inclined parallel plates is shown at $0^{\circ}{\leq}{\Theta}<30^{\circ}$, Re<0.062, and the flow pattern can be classified into three patterns which depend on Reynolds number and the angle of inclination. The minimum Nusselt numbers occur at Re=0.05 regardless of the angle of inclination.
According to recent changes in industry for semiconductor devices, a low-temperature treatment has become a necessity. These changes relate to size refinement and the development of new materials. While variation in cooling efficiency does not affect the yield when using a high-temperature treatment, uniform cooling efficiency is necessary avoid "inconsistencies/bends" in low temperature treatments. However it is difficult to increase temperature stabilization in low temperature treatments. In this paper, using CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics), we analyze and manipulate the design and input of the low-temperature system to attempt to control for temperature variations within the quartz tube, of which airflow appears to be a predominant factor. This simulation includes variable inputs such as airflow rate, head pressure, and design manipulations in the S.C.U. (Super Cooling Unit).

Serpentinite rocks which are composed mainly of olivine, serpentine and clinopyroxene, cropped out in the anorogenic Kyongsang sedimentary basin of South Korea. The serpentinites contain high content of MgO (36.87~41.99%) and 47~67 ppm Co, 1185~2042 ppm Ni and 979~3582 ppm Cr, which are quite similar to those of ultrabasic rocks such as peridotite and dunite. Isotopic compositions of serpentinites range from -95.5 to -105.7‰ in ${\delta}D$ and +1.7 to 7.1‰ in ${\delta}^{18}O$ corresponding to the continental antigorite type. A wide variation of oxygen isotopic values and $H_2O^+$ content of serpentinites reflect the different water/rock ratios during serpentinization processes. Formation temperature of serpentine minerals are estimated to be unusually high temperature of $488{\sim}646^{\circ}C$ by serpentine-magnetite isotopic fractionation, which belong to continental antigorite type. Calculated ${\delta}^{18}O$ value of serpentinized fluid during serpentinization is suggested that the hydrothermal fluid responsible for serpentinization be originated from the magmatic fluid with a minor influx of paleo-meteoric water in this area.

Recently, there has been growing interest in the oxyfuel combustion cycle since it enables high-purity $CO_2 capture with high$ efficiency. However, the oxyfuel combustion cycle has some important issues regarding to its performance such as the requirement of water recirculation to decrease a turbine inlet temperature and proper combustion to enhance cycle efficiency. Also, Some of water vapour remain not condensed at condenser outlet because cycle working fluid contains non-condensable gas, i.e., $CO_2$. The purpose of the present study is to analyze performance characteristics of the oxyfuel combustion cycle with different turbine inlet temperatures, combustion pressures and condenser pressure. It is expected that increasing the turbine inlet temperature improves cycle efficiency, on the other hand, the combustion pressure has specific value to display highest cycle efficiency. And increasing condensing pressure improves water vapour condensing rate.
The vibration of fuel rods in axial flow is a universally recognized issue within both engineering and academic communities due to its significant importance in ensuring structural safety. This paper aims to thoroughly investigate the stability and nonlinear vibration of a fuel rod subjected to axial flow in a newly designed high temperature gas cooled reactor. Considering the possible presence of thermal expansion and large deformation in practical scenarios, the thermal effect and geometric nonlinearity are modeled using the von Karman equation. By applying Hamilton's principle, we derive the comprehensive governing equation for this fluid-structure interaction system, which incorporates the quadratic nonlinear stiffness. To establish a connection between the fluid and structure aspects, we utilize the Galerkin method to solve the perturbation potential function, while employing mode expansion techniques associated with the structural analysis. Following convergence and validation analyses, we examine the stability of the structure under various conditions in detail, and also investigate the bifurcation behavior concerning the buckling amplitude and flow velocity. The findings from this research enhance the understanding of the underlying physics governing fuel rod behavior in axial flow under severe yet practical conditions, while providing valuable guidance for reactor design.
A numerical study of high pressure and temperature droplet vaporization and combustion is conducted by formulating one dimensional evaporation model and single-step chemical reaction in the mixture of hydrocarbon fuel and air. The ambient pressure ranged from atmospheric conditions to the supercritical conditions. In order to account for the real gas effect on fluid p-v-T properties in high pressure conditions, the modified Soave-Redlich-Kwong state equation is used in the evaluation of thermophysical properties. Some computational results are compared with Sato's experimental data for the validation of calculations in case of vaporization. The comparison between predictions and experiments showed quite a good agreement. Droplet surface temperature increased with increasing pressure. Ignition time increased with increasing initial droplet diameter. Temporal or spatial distribution of mass fraction, mass diffusivity, Lewis number, thermal conductivity, and specific heat were presented.
Chemical sensors are used in various industrial facilities such high-risk and prevent the leakage of substances, important in life and environmental protection and the safe use of industry, used for management. In particular, high-temperature environments such as power generation equipment of the rotating part due to leakage generated by the various oil, power plants Shut Down, fire, work environment (exposure to various chemical solution and gas leak) and various water, air and soil pollution causes. Thus, over the long term through various channels such as crops and groundwater contamination caused by the slow, serious adverse effect on the ecosystem. In this paper, synthetic lube oil and high pressure hydraulic fluid leakage and immediately detect a new Printed Electronic implementation of technology-based film-type sensors, and its performance test. Thus, industrial accidents and environmental pollution and for early detection of problems, large accidents can be prevented. Experimental results of the synthetic lube oil and high pressure hydraulic fluid solution after the contact time depending on the experiment and the oil solution of the sensor material of the conductive porous PE resistance value by a chemical reaction could be confirmed that rapid increase. Also implemented in the film-type oil sensor electrical resistance change over time of the reaction rate and the synthetic lube oil is about 2 minutes or less, the high pressure hydraulic fluid is less than about 1 minute was. Therefore, more high-pressure hydraulic fluid such as a low volatility synthetic lube oils are the resistance change and the reaction rate was confirmed to be the slowest.
Bubble growth on microheater has been experimentally investigated in this study. The experiment was performed using platinum microheaters having dimensions of 300 ${\mu}m$ or 50 ${\mu}m$ in length, 20 ${\mu}m$ or 5 ${\mu}m$ in width, and $0.2{\pm}0.01$${\mu}m$ in thickness. A high speed video camera was used to observe bubble growth at 2,000 frames per second. Microheater temperature was measured at the rate of 300 Hz. with a data acquisition system. Bubble nucleation frequency increased with working fluid temperature. Although the slope of temperature drop was similar in all cases, the magnitude of temperature drop was different. The temperature profiles and the high speed camera images were combined to explain temperature drop.
A high-temperature sodium stainless steel heat pipe was fabricated and its performance has been investigated. The working fluid was sodium and it was sealed inside a straight tube container made of stainless steel. The amount of sodium occupied approximately 20% of the total volume of the heat pipe and its weight was 65.7gram. The length of a stainless steel container is 1002mm and its outside diameter is 25.4mm. Performance tests were carried out in a room air condition under a free convective environment and the measured temperatures are presented. The start-up behavior of the heat pipe from a frozen state was investigated for various heat input values between 600W and 1205W. In steady state, axial temperature distributions of a heat pipe were measured and its heat transfer rates were estimated in the range of vapor temperature from 50$0^{\circ}C$ to 63$0^{\circ}C$. It is found that there are small temperature differences in the vapor core along the axial direction of a sodium heat pipe for the high operating temperatures. But for the range of low operating temperatures there are large temperature drops along the vapor core region of a sodium heat pipe, because a small vapor pressure drop makes a large temperature drop. The transition temperature was reached more rapidly in the cases of high heat input rate for the sodium heat pipe.
A high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was performed using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model for the lower plenum of the High-Temperature Test Facility (HTTF), a ¼ scale test facility of the modular high temperature gas-cooled reactor (MHTGR) managed by Oregon State University. In most next-generation nuclear reactors, thermal stress due to thermal striping is one of the risks to be curiously considered. This is also true for HTGRs, especially since the exhaust helium gas temperature is high. In order to evaluate these risks and performance, organizations in the United States led by the OECD NEA are conducting a thermal hydraulic code benchmark for HTGR, and the test facility used for this benchmark is HTTF. HTTF can perform experiments in both normal and accident situations and provide high-quality experimental data. However, it is difficult to provide sufficient data for benchmarking through experiments, and there is a problem with the reliability of CFD analysis results based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes to analyze thermal hydraulic behavior without verification. To solve this problem, high-fidelity 3-D CFD analysis was performed using the LES model for HTTF. It was also verified that the LES model can properly simulate this jet mixing phenomenon via a unit cell test that provides experimental information. As a result of CFD analysis, the lower the dependency of the sub-grid scale model, the closer to the actual analysis result. In the case of unit cell test CFD analysis and HTTF CFD analysis, the volume-averaged sub-grid scale model dependency was calculated to be 13.0% and 9.16%, respectively. As a result of HTTF analysis, quantitative data of the fluid inside the HTTF lower plenum was provided in this paper. As a result of qualitative analysis, the temperature was highest at the center of the lower plenum, while the temperature fluctuation was highest near the edge of the lower plenum wall. The power spectral density of temperature was analyzed via fast Fourier transform (FFT) for specific points on the center and side of the lower plenum. FFT results did not reveal specific frequency-dominant temperature fluctuations in the center part. It was confirmed that the temperature power spectral density (PSD) at the top increased from the center to the wake. The vortex was visualized using the well-known scalar Q-criterion, and as a result, the closer to the outlet duct, the greater the influence of the mainstream, so that the inflow jet vortex was dissipated and mixed at the top of the lower plenum. Additionally, FFT analysis was performed on the support structure near the corner of the lower plenum with large temperature fluctuations, and as a result, it was confirmed that the temperature fluctuation of the flow did not have a significant effect near the corner wall. In addition, the vortices generated from the lower plenum to the outlet duct were identified in this paper. It is considered that the quantitative and qualitative results presented in this paper will serve as reference data for the benchmark.
