This paper presents a feasible development on a highly accurate quick response adjustable speed drive implementation fur general purpose induction motor which operates on the basis of sensorless slip frequency type vector controlled sine-wave PWM inverter with an automatic tuning machine parameter estimation schemes. In the first place, the sensorless vector control theory on the three-phase voltage source-fed inverter induction motor drive system is developed in slip frequency based vector control principle. In particular, the essential procedure and considerations to measure and estimate the exact stator and rotor circuit parameters of general purpose induction motor are discussed under its operating conditions. The speed regulation characteristics of induction motor operated by the three-phase voltage-fed type current controlled PWM inverter using IGBT's is illustrated and evaluated fur machine parameter variations under the actual conditions of low frequency and high frequency operations for the load torque. In the second place, the variable speed induction motor drive system, employing sensorless vector control scheme which is based on three -phase high frequency carrier PWM inverter with automatic toning estimation schemes of the temperature -dependent and -independent machine circuit parameters, is practically implemented using DSP-based controller. Finally, the dynamic speed response performances for largely changed load torque disturbances as well as steady state speed vs. torque characteristics of this induction motor control implementation are illustrated and discussed from an experimental point of view.

In this research, we selected the speech recognition to implement the electric wheelchair system as a method to control it by only using the speech and used DTW (Dynamic Time Warping), which is speaker-dependent and has a relatively high recognition rate among the speech recognitions. However, it has to have small memory and fast process speed performance under consideration of real-time. Thus, we introduced VQ (Vector Quantization) which is widely used as a compression algorithm of speaker-independent recognition, to secure fast recognition and small memory. However, we found that the recognition rate decreased after using VQ. To improve the recognition rate, we applied ART2 (Adaptive Reason Theory 2) algorithm as a post-process algorithm to obtain about 5% recognition rate improvement. To utilize ART2, we have to apply an error range. In case that the subtraction of the first distance from the second distance for each distance obtained to apply DTW is 20 or more, the error range is applied. Likewise, ART2 was applied and we could obtain fast process and high recognition rate. Moreover, since this system is a moving object, the system should be implemented as an embedded one. Thus, we selected TMS320C32 chip, which can process significantly many calculations relatively fast, to implement the embedded system. Considering that the memory is speech, we used 128kbyte-RAM and 64kbyte ROM to save large amount of data. In case of speech input, we used 16-bit stereo audio codec, securing relatively accurate data through high resolution capacity.

A contrp; suste, fpr SCARA robot is designed for implememting a robust dynamic control algorithm. this study forcuses on the use of DSPs in the design of joint controllers and interfaces in between the host cotroller and four joint controllers and in between the joint controllers and four servo drives. The mechanical body of SCARA robot and the servo drives are selected from the commercially available ones. The four joint controllers, assigned to each joint one by one, are combined into a common system through a mother board hardwarewise and through the global memeory softwarewise. The mother board is designed to connect joint controllers onto the board through the slots adopting PC/104 bus structures. And, the global memory stores the common data which can be shared by joint controllers and the host computer directly, which virtually combines the whole system into one. To demonstrate the performance and efficienty of the sytem, a robust inverse dynamic algorithm is proposed and implemented for a faster and more precise control. The robust inverse dynamic algorithm is basically derived from an inverse dynamci algorithm and a PID compensator. Based upon the derived dynamic equitions of SCARA robot, the inverse dynamic algorithm is intitially implemented within 0.3 msec of the control cycle in this system. The algoithm is found to be not accurate enough for the high speed and precision tasks due to inherent modelling errors and time-varying factors. Therefore, a variable PID algorithm is combined with the inverse dynamic algorithm to support robustness of control performance. Experimental datfor the proposed algorithm are presented and compared with the result obtained from PID and inverse dynamic algorithm.
With the advent of high speed digital signal processing chips, new digital techniques have been introduced to the hearing instrument. This advanced hearing instrument circuitry has led to the need or and the development of new fitting approach. A number of different fitting approaches have been developed over the past few years, yet there has been little agreement on which approach is the "best" or most appropriate to use. However, when we develop not only new hearing aid, but also its fitting method, the intensive subject-based clinical tests are necessarily accompanied. In this paper, we present an objective method to evaluate and predict the performance of hearing aids without the help of such subject-based tests. In the hearing impairment simulation (HIS) algorithm, a sensorineural hearing impairment model is established from auditory test data of the impaired subject being simulated. Also, in the hearing impairment simulation system the abnormal loudness relationships created by recruitment was transposed to the normal dynamic span of hearing. The nonlinear behavior of the loudness recruitment is defined using hearing loss unctions generated from the measurements. The recruitment simulation is validated by an experiment with two impaired listeners, who compared processed speech in the normal ear with unprocessed speech in the impaired ear. To assess the performance, the HIS algorithm was implemented in real-time using a floating-point DSP.

An NAC(Natural Admittance Control) system design is presented for interaction controller that achieves high-performance and guarantees stability. The NAC can be classified as a particular flavor of impedance control similar to control schemes that have velocity compensator and force compensator. The NAC significantly improves the response characteristics when Coulomb friction is presented in One-link Robot System and guarantees stability when robot contacts with environment. Pragmatic rules for NAC synthesis are derived. It shows method to choose a target impedance for realizable force compensator. Important parameters are found experimentally. It is demonstrated, by the experimental result, that NAC algorithm is successful in rejecting Coulomb friction through velocity compensator and guarantees stability through force compensator. We implement an experimental set-up consisting of environment-generated one-link robot system and DSP system for controller development. We apply the natural admittance controller to the One-link robot system, and show the good performance on desired force control in case of contacting with arbitrary environment.
In order to achieve the high quality output voltage of single-phase voltage source inverters, in this paper an Adaptive Complementary Sliding Mode Control (ACSMC) is proposed. Firstly, the dynamics model of the single-phase inverter with lumped uncertainty including parameter variations and external disturbances is derived. Then, the conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC) and Complementary Sliding Mode Control (CSMC) are introduced separately. However, when system parameters vary or external disturbance occurs, the controlling performance such as tracking error, response speed et al. always could not satisfy the requirements based on the SMC and CSMC methods. Consequently, an ACSMC is developed. The ACSMC is composed of a CSMC term, a compensating control term and a filter parameters estimator. The compensating control term is applied to compensate for the system uncertainties, the filter parameters estimator is used for on-line LC parameter estimation by the proposed adaptive law. The adaptive law is derived using the Lyapunov theorem to guarantee the closed-loop stability. In order to decrease the control system cost, an inductor current estimator is developed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated through Matlab/Simulink and experiments on a prototype single-phase inverter test bed with a TMS320LF28335 DSP. The simulation and experimental results show that compared to the conventional SMC and CSMC, the proposed ACSMC control strategy achieves more excellent performance such as fast transient response, small steady-state error, and low total harmonic distortion no matter under load step change, nonlinear load with inductor parameter variation or external disturbance.

In this paper, we propose a new addressing mode, which can be used for programmable image processor to perform image-processing algorithms effectively. Conventional addressing modes are suitable for one-dimensional data processing such as voice, but the proposed addressing mode consider two-dimensional characteristics of image data. The proposed instruction for two-dimensional addressing requires two operands to specify a pixel and doesn't require any change of memory architecture. The proposed two-dimensional addressing mode for image processor has the following advantages. The proposed instruction combines several instructions to load a pixel data from an external memory to a register. Hence, the proposed instruction reduces required code size so that it satisfies high performance and low power requirements of image processor. In addition, it uses inherent two-dimensional characteristics of image data and offers user-friendly instruction to assembler programmer The proposed two-dimensional addressing mode is applicable to DSP, media processor, graphic device, and so on. In this paper, we propose a new concept of two-dimensional addressing mode and an efficient hardware implementation method of it.

Nowadays, the PV systems have been focused on the interconnection between the power source and the grid. The PV inverter, either single-phase or three-phase, can be considered as the core of the whole system because of an important role in the grid-interconnecting operation. An important issue in the inverter control is the load current regulation. In the literature, the Proportional+Integral (PI) controller, normally used in the current-controlled Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), cannot be a satisfactory controller for an ac system because of the steady-sate error and the poor disturbance rejection, especially in high-frequency range. By comparison with the PI controller, the Proportional+Resonant (PR) controller can introduce an infinite gain at the fundamental ac frequency; hence can achieve the zero steady-state error without requiring the complex transformation and the dq-coupling technique. In this paper, a PR controller is designed and adopted for replacing the PI controller. Based on the theoretical analyses, the PR controller based control strategy is implemented in a 32-bit fixed-point TMS320F2812 DSP and evaluated in a 3kW experimental prototype Photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS). Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the performance of implemented control scheme in PV PCS.

Tn this paper we described the process and the results of an implementation of Internet terminal using G.729.1 wideband speech codec for next generation network. For this purpose firstly we chose a high performance RISC application processor having DSP features for speech codec processing and enhanced Multimedia Accelerator(eMMA) function for video codec. In the implementation of this terminal, we used G.729.1 codec recently standardized in ITU-T which is a new scalable speech and audio codec that extends 0.729 speech coding standard. To adopt G.729.1 codec to this terminal we transformed most of the fixed point C codes which require more complexity into assembly codes so as to minimize processing time in the processor. As a result of this work we reduced the execution time of the original C codes about 80% and operated in real time on the terminal. For video we used H.263/MPEG-4 codec which is supported by the eMMA with hardware in the processor. In the SIP call processing test connected to real network we obtained under looms end-to-end delay and 3.8 MOS value measured with PESQ instrument. Besides this terminal operated well with commercial terminals.
