  • Multilevel converters have attracted a lot of attention in recent years. The efficiency parameters of a multilevel converter such as the switching losses and total harmonic distortion (THD) mainly depend on the modulation strategy used to control the converter. Among all of the modulation techniques, the selective harmonic elimination (SHE) method is particularly suitable for high-power applications due to its low switching frequency and high quality output voltage. This paper proposes a new expression for the SHE problem in five-level converters. Based on this new expression, a simple analytical method is introduced to determine the feasible modulation index intervals and to calculate the exact value of the switching angles. For each selected harmonic, this method presents three-level or five-level waveforms according to the value of the modulation index. Furthermore, a flowchart is proposed for the real-time implementation of this analytical method, which can be performed by a simple processor and without the need of any lookup table. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with several simulation and experimental results for a single phase five-level diode-clamped inverter.

  • In a fixed AC power source the PWM techniques were used to vary the voltage and the fundamental frequency. The conventional PWM techniques due to the problem of commutation number and filter size have been studied the PWM output waveforms which applied the motor drive. However in this paper, the carrier frequency with sinusoidal PWM waveform is modulated from 10(KHz) to 45(KHz) using termination devices with high - speed switching capacity and applying LPF(Low Pass Filter) with small capacity to output of inverter and the PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation)is obtained. Considering the property of the speed and the control, the sinusoidal PWM control circuit was composed of the microprocessor and analog circuit. In experment result, the system properties are study on the sinusoidal voltage waveform with modulation index changing from 0.6 to 1.0.

  • This paper analyze the effect of frequency offset for the IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WPAN(Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network) with 915MHz bandwidth noncoherent DSSS O-QPSK based receiver system, and presents a compensation method with addition of differential filter to the system for compensation of frequency offset problem. DSSS PSSS-ASK and DSSS O-QPSK modulation techniques are accepted within the regularization of IEEE 802.15.4b. These new method can obtain 250kbps transmission rate. The DSSS O-QPSK modulation method that is used in this paper has no BER variation below 40ppm(frequency offset 36.6kHz), but if the offset frequency become high above 40ppm, then the system cannot have stable receiving condition due to worse BER. To solve this problem, we present a more stabilized receiver system at maximum frequency offset ${\pm}80ppm$ using MDDF unti a correlator of DSSS O-QPSK modulator. Moreover computer simulation results will be presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm unde various AWGN and frequency offset environment.

  • This paper presents a method to improve time interval error for asynchronous communication systems. The proposed method is designed and simulated with multi-phase VCO, interpolator, phase selector, up-down counter, comparator and adder. The simulation results for CAN communication system show that the maximum time interval error can be tightly managed for satisfying the required specification. The proposed frequency modulation method can be properly used for asynchronous communication systems requiring high reliability.

  • In this paper, we investigate the signal design of six (USA, EU, Russia, China, Japan, and India) countries for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Recently, a navigation satellite system that is capable of high-precision and reliable Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) services has been developed. Prior to system design, a survey of the signal design for other GNSS systems should precede to ensure compatibility and interoperability with other GNSS. The signal design includes carrier frequency, Pseudorandom Noise (PRN) code, modulation, navigation service, etc. Specifically, GNSS is allocated L1, L2, and L5 bands, with recent additions of the L6 and S bands. GNSS uses PRN code (such as Gold, Weil, etc) to distinguish satellites that transmit signals simultaneously on the same frequency band. For modulation, both Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) have been widely used to avoid collision in the frequency spectrum, and alternating BOCs are adopted to distinguish pilot and data components. Through the survey of other GNSS' signal designs, we provide insights for guiding the design of new satellite navigation systems.

  • This paper is writing about developing magnet power supply. It is very important for power supply to obtain output current in high precision and high stability. As a switching noise and a power noise are the cause of disrupting the stability of output current, to remove these at the front end, low pass filter with 300Hz cutoff frequency is designed and placed. And also to minimize switching noise of the current into magnet and to stop abrupt fluctuations, output filter should be designed, when doing this, we design it by considering load has high value inductance. As power supply demands the stability of less than 5ppm, high precision 24bit(300nV/bit) analog digital converter is needed. As resolving power of 24bit(300nV/bit) analog digital converter is high, it is also very important to design the input stage of analog digital converter. To remove input noise, 4th order low pass filter is composed. Due to the limitation of clock, to minimize quantization error between 15bit DPWM and output of ADC having 24bit resolving power, ${\Sigma}-{\Delta}$ modulation is used and bit contracted DPWM is constituted. And before implementing, to maximize efficiency, simulink is used.

  • The Low Voltage DC-DC converters (LDCs) of the Electric Vehicles require high power density and high efficiency operation over the wide range of load and input voltage variations. This paper introduces a novel topology which combines three 1 MHz Half-Bridge (HB) LLC resonant converters and an Inverting Buck-Boost (IBB) converter to adjust the output voltage without frequency modulation. The switching frequency of the proposed converter is fixed at 1MHz to achieve a constant frequency operation for the resonant converter. In the proposed topology GaN FETs and planar transformers are employed to optimize the converter operation at high frequency. A 1 MHz/1.8 kW prototype converter is built to verify the feasibility and the validity of the proposed LDC topology.

  • 1.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DFB with absorption grating of 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ InGaAsP layer was fabricated. This new type of DFB laser shows self-plusation for DC operation. At low level of injection the relation between the pulsation frequency and the injection current shows similar behavior with the relaxation oscillation of ordinary laser and at high level of injection the pulsation frequency decreases compared to the relaxation oscillation. Period doubling, period 3 and 4 were observed for AC modulation. In case of period doubling the waveform shows only one pulse within a period without any accompanying subsidiary pulses and the oscillation frequency was quite stable. The pulse widths as short as 58.5 ps was achieved with AC modulation. We propose the time division multiplexing application of this kind of DFB laser.
