내장형 광센서를 이용한 모바일 디스플레이의 자동 광원 밝기 조정 시스템 (An Automatic Back-Light Brightness Control System of Mobile Display Using Built-In Photo Sensor)

  • 본 논문은 모바일 디스플레이를 위한 자동 백라이트 밝기 조정 시스템을 제안한다. 모바일 디스플레이에서 가장 중요한 요소들 중의 하나가 이동시 제한된 전력 원으로 인한 전력 소모를 들 수 있다. LCD 디스플레이에서 공급 전력의 80% 이상이 LED 백라이트 (BL박에서 소비된다. 또한 디스플레이 밝기는 동영상과 고해상도 영상 적용 시 더 높아야 하기 때문에 과도한 전력이 소비될 뿐만 아니라 어두운 환경에서는 지나친 눈부심을 줄 수 있다. 이러한 경우 밝기를 자동으로 줄여주고, 소비전력 또한 줄이기 위해 본 논문은 모바일 디스플레이 분야에서 자동 밝기 조절 (ABC) 기술을 제안한다. 개발된 시스템은 내장형 광센서를 가진 패널, 광센서를 조절할 수 있는 구동 IC 및 BLU로 구성되어 있다. 패널에 내장된 광센서 어레이가 외부의 광을 자동으로 검지하기 때문에 어두운 환경에서 BLU의 소비전력은 감소된다. 개발된 ABC 시스템은 어두운 환경에서 50%의 감소된 소비전력 특성을 보였다. 이러한 시스템은 모바일 TFT-LCD의 전력을 조절하는데 상당히 유용하다.

  • First introduced in 1962, LED(light-emitting diodes) emitted low-intensity red light, but modern versions are now available across the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared spectrum, many with very high luminance or brightness. As a result, growing importance of potential safety harzards for human. Now when certificated of CE provide that testing through IEC/EN 62471 for any lamp. Korea standard adopted as it IEC 62471:2006, Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems without change, but effectiveness is incomplete. In this paper, we introduce analysis and direction that urgently come into effectiveness of KS C IEC 62471 as a national standard specifications.

Design and analysis of the lens converting the spot light into the line light

  • A CCFL which commonly used in the back light units for the LCD, possess very high brightness hence, was widely used as a line light source. However, the use of CCFL, caused for several environmental concerns since it contain highly toxic mercury, gradually replaced into a LED. But the LED is a spot light source, the dark area occurs in the surface of the back light units. In this paper, we proposed the lens that can convert the spot light into the line light and it can remove the dark area in the surface of the back light units. The lens is composed with the light condensation part and the light guiding part. The conditions obtained will be helpful to plan an optimum structure for such preparation.

Ohmic contacts to p-type GaN for high brightness LED applications

  • GaN-related semiconductors are of great technological importance for the fabrication of optoelectronic devices, such as blue and ultra violet light emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes, and photo-detectors. One of the most important applications of GaN-based LEDs is solid-state lighting, which could replace incandescent bulbs and ultimately fluorescent lamps. For solid-state lighting applications, the achievement of high extraction efficiency in LED structures is essential. For flip-chip LEDs (FCLEDS), the formation of low resistance and high reflective p-GaN contact is crucial. So far, a wide variety of different methods have been employed to improve the ohmic properties of p-type contacts to GaN. For example, surface treatments using different chemical solutions have been successfully used to produce high-quality ohmic contacts, Metallization schemes, such as Ta/Ti contacts to p-GaN, were also investigated. For these contacts, the removal of hydrogen atoms from the Mg atoms doped n the GaN was argued to be responsible for low contact resistances.

  • A Light Emitting Diode(LED) is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. LEDs are widely used in a field of illumination, LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) backlight, mobile signals because they have several merits, such as low power consumption, long lifetime, high brightness, fast response, environment friendly. In general, LEDs production does die bonding and wire bonding on board, and do silicon and phosphor dispensing to protect LED chip and improve brightness. Then lens molding process is performed using mixed liquid silicon rubber(LSR) by resin and hardener. A mixture of resin and hardener affect the optical characteristics of the LED lens. In this paper, computational design of static mixer was performed for mixing of liquid silicon. To evaluate characteristic of mixing efficiency, finite element model of static mixer was generated, and fluidic analysis was performed according to length of mixing element. Finally, optimal condition of length of mixing element was applied to static mixer from result of fluidic analysis.

COB LED High Bay 대칭형 광학계의 배광각에 관한 연구 (Investigation of the Angular Distribution of Luminous Intensity in the Symmetric Optical System of a COB LED High Bay)

  • We have studied a chip-on-board LED lighting optical system for various luminous-intensity-distribution angles of the LED. An optical system that can accept different LEDs was made to reduce the systems's weight and size as we selected the chip-on-board LED, which is easy to apply to optical systems, unlike existing package-on-board LEDs. The luminous-intensity-distribution angles were $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $120^{\circ}$. We researched these four types of optical systems. The $45^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ units were developed into reflectors, and the $90^{\circ}$ and $120^{\circ}$ units, into lenses. We checked the performance of the designed optical system through simulation and made a mock-up. Then we made a prototype of the chip-on-board LED high bay for use with the mock-up. After measuring its performance, we tested the luminous-intensity-distribution angles and compared them with simulation data. The resulting prototype was developed considering brightness, light uniformity, age, and economics which are suitable for a factory environment.

LED Module의 주위 온도에 따른 전기적 광학적 특성 연구 (The Study on Electrical and Optical Properties in LED Module by the Environment Temperature)

  • In this paper, we manufactured high flux LED module with Through Hole type. and we measured electrical, optical and thermal properties by driving type. LED module was composed with 8*8 arrangement form by using the glass epoxy PCB. Also, we measured the most suitable driving type with static voltage driving type and static current driving type. As a result, the LED Module of static voltage driving type showed high luminance characteristic than the static current driving type by suppling enough bias. However, the static current driving type showed more stable driving properties because of fast decreasing properties about brightness by increasing the surrounding temperature in the static voltage driving type. Also, due to Quantum confined Stark effect from piezoelectric field, the wavelength of bule peak shifted to long wavelength direction by increasing the surrounding temperature in the static voltage driving type.

  • As developing the information society, Lighting Emitted diode(LED) which is light source for illumination of next generation is attracted public attention. LED have many problem as narrow light view angle, high price, drift phenomenon of color coordinate, high heating problem for lower power, lower weight and small size. So, many researches have continued in a illumination as LED module type. in this problem, heating problem is very important and difficult and that is caused in decreasing phenomenon of brightness and drift phenomenon of color coordinate. so the problem of heating is urgent question for illumination of LED. In this paper, structural design of PCB changed as two type for solving the heating problem. also the properties of heating is analysed and optical properties is measured with heating image camera and spectrometer according to change in this design.

  • LED는 다른 광원에 비해 동작수명이 길고, 친환경적이며, 에너지 효율이 높은 장점을 가지고 있다. 최근 LED 기술의 발전으로 인해 고휘도, 고용량의 LED가 개발됨에 따라, 표시장치에만 적용되던 LED를 조명장치에도 적용하는 기술이 확산되고 있다. 파워 LED는 동작의 안정성 및 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 구동전류를 일정한 값 이하로 유지하는 전류제한기능이 필요한데, 본 논문에서는 전류제한기능을 포함한 하프브리지 LLC 직렬공진형 컨버터를 제안한다. 하프브리지 LLC 직렬공진형 컨버터는 다른 공진형 컨버터에 비해 상대적으로 입력전압 및 출력부하 범위가 광범위한 장점이 있으며, 변압기의 누설인덕턴스를 공진인덕터로 이용할 수 있기 때문에 마그네틱 소자를 줄일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 전류제한기능 및 역률개선기능을 포함하고 있는 출력전압 DC24[V], 200[W]급의 LED 조명장치 구동용 하프브리지 LLC 직렬공진형 컨버터의 설계 및 실험을 통해 타당성을 입증하였다.

SPICE 기반의 발광 다이오드 3차원 회로 모델 (A SPICE-based 3-dimensional circuit model for Light-Emitting Diode)

  • 고휘도 LED(Light-Emitting Diode)를 구현하기 위한 칩 설계의 최적화에 이용할 수 있는 SPICE 기반의 LED 3차원 회로 모델을 개발하였다. 본 모델은 LED를 일정한 면적의 픽셀로 구획하고, 각각의 픽셀은 n-전극, n-형 반도체, p-형 반도체, 및 p-전극 등의 일반적인 LED 레이어 구조를 반영하는 회로망으로 나타낸다. 개별의 박막 층과 접촉 저항은 저항 네트웍으로, pn-접합부는 일반적인 pn-접합 다이오드로 각각 모델링 한다. 별도의 테스트 패턴을 이용하여 독립적으로 추출한 파라미터를 이용한 시뮬레이션 결과는 실험 결과와 정확하게 일치함을 확인하였다.
