In this paper, we propose a location-prediction structure that can provide user service in advance. It consists of seven steps and supplies intelligent services which can forecast user's location. Context information collected from physical sensors and a history database is so difficult that it can't present importance of data and abstraction of data because of heterogeneous data type. Hence, we offer the location-prediction that change data type from heterogeneous data to homogeneous data. Extracted data is clustered by SOFM, then it gets user's location information by ARIMA and realizes the services by a reasoning engine. In order to validate the proposed location-prediction, we built a test-bed and test it by the scenario.

This paper demonstrates the comparative analysis of the similarity and difference between Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and social tags. Both types of metadata have the same purpose - that is, succinctly abstracting content of a given document - but are created from heterogeneous viewpoints. The former MeSH terms show the aspects of publication related professionals, whereas the latter social tags are from the perspectives of general readers. When both types of metadata are assigned to the same publications, do they consist of different nomenclatures reflecting the heterogeneous viewpoints or are they similar, since both metadata types describe the same publications? Social tags are also compared with family terms of MeSH terms in the given MeSH hierarchy, so as to understand the specificity of social tags, related to MeSH terms. Lastly, given the fact that readers assign social tags in casual ways without any restricted vocabulary, we tested how many social tags contain consumer health terms, which are familiar to laypeople. Through these comparisons, we ultimately aim to examine how much the highly controlled publication index reflects general readers' cognitive understandings and stress the necessity of general readers' involvement in the publication indexing process.

As the growing popularity of smartphones, mobile web browsing has become one of the most important and popular applications in mobile devices. Furthermore, it is clear that the demand for PC-like full browser performance on mobile devices is increasing greatly. WebKit is an open source web browser engine adopted by Google Android. This paper proposed a technique of increasing the performance of WebKit by paralleling its libraries. This method was applied to JPEG library and the performance evaluation was conducted in PC environment. The results was used to estimate the performance prediction on multi-core mobile embedded architecture and to show the feasibility of the proposed method to estimate the performance gain on heterogeneous multi-core embedded architecture.
This paper proposes a mediator system which can provide a view management function in the today's heterogeneous computing environment including operating system database management systems and other software. while most mediators use view modification mechanism only, the use of view materialization is also considered in this research. In order to optimize the management cost for materialized views the proposed method applies a decay factor for modeling the access behaviors of views In other words, the most recently access pattern gets the highest attention in the optimization process all the necessary it with the CORBA.

Requirement of coordination among heterogeneous devices is significantly increasing to meet the challenges presented by the evolvement of the ubiquitous computing environment. The web services technology is receiving much attention as a promising solution to support the inter-operability between such heterogeneous devices by means of well-defined protocol. Recenlty, ECA(Event-Condition-Action) rule-based framework for coordinating devices is proposed, which is called WS-ECA(Web Services-ECA) framework In this paper we propose a specific design and an implementation methodology for WS-ECA framework.
Small-cells in heterogeneous networks are one of the important technologies to increase the coverage and capacity in 5G cellular networks. However, due to the randomly arranged small-cells, co-tier and cross-tier interference increase, deteriorating the system performance of the network. In order to manage the interference, some channel management methods use fractional frequency reuse(FFR) that divides the cell coverage into the inner region(IR) and outer region(OR) based on the distance from the macro base station(MBS). However, since it is impossible to properly measure the distance in the method with FFR, we propose a new interference aware FFR(IA-FFR) method to enhance the system performance. That is, the proposed IA-FFR method divides the MUEs and SBSs into the IR and OR groups based on the signal to interference plus noise ratio(SINR) of macro user equipments(MUEs) and received signals strength of small-cell base stations(SBSs) from the MBS, respectively, and then dynamically assigns subchannels to MUEs and small-cell user equipments. As a result, the proposed IA-FFR method outperforms other methods in terms of the system capacity and outage probability.
Nowadays, the needs for linking smart devices are growing fast because of wide spread of smart devices such as smart TV, smart phones, smart pad and so on. This paper presents a game framework for linking smart TV and smart phones and proves its applicability by developing an example contents. The problem of connection between smart devices is basically a problem of connection between heterogeneous devices. The problem is that data transmission and reception between heterogeneous devices must be considered. Therefore, the core data is implemented by adopting the concept of cloud computing and storing it in a server, and in a smart TV, playing the game by using this data. The proposed framework could be applied to a lot of applications such as computer games.

Due to heterogeneity in Data and Processes, healthcare systems are facing the challenge of interoperability. This heterogeneity results in different healthcare workflows of each individual organization. The compatibility of these heterogeneous workflows is possible when standards are followed. HL7 is one of the standards that is used for communicating medical data between healthcare systems. Its newer version V3 is providing semantic interoperability which is lacking in V2. The interoperability in HL7 V3 is only limited to data level and process level interoperability needs to be catered. The process level interoperability is achieved only when heterogeneous workflows are aligned. These workflows are very complex in nature due to continuous change in medical data resulting in problems related to maintenance and degree of automation. Semantic technologies plays important role in resolving the above mentioned problems. This research work is based on the integration of semantic technology in HL7 V3 standard to achieve semantic process interoperability. Web Service Modeling Framework (WSMF) is used for incorporating semantics in HL7 V3 processes and achieves seamless communication. Interaction Ontology represents the process artifacts of HL7 V3 and helps in achieving automation.
Federated learning (FL) is a ground breaking machine learning paradigm that allow smultiple participants to collaboratively train models in a cloud environment, all while maintaining the privacy of their raw data. This approach is in valuable in applications involving sensitive or geographically distributed data. However, one of the challenges in FL is dealing with heterogeneous and non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data across participants, which can result in suboptimal model performance compared to traditionalmachine learning methods. To tackle this, we introduce FedGCD, a novel FL algorithm that employs Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based community detection to enhance model convergence in federated settings. In our experiments, FedGCD consistently outperformed existing FL algorithms in various scenarios: for instance, in a non-IID environment, it achieved an accuracy of 0.9113, a precision of 0.8798,and an F1-Score of 0.8972. In a semi-IID setting, it demonstrated the highest accuracy at 0.9315 and an impressive F1-Score of 0.9312. We also introduce a new metric, nonIIDness, to quantitatively measure the degree of data heterogeneity. Our results indicate that FedGCD not only addresses the challenges of data heterogeneity and non-IIDness but also sets new benchmarks for FL algorithms. The community detection approach adopted in FedGCD has broader implications, suggesting that it could be adapted for other distributed machine learning scenarios, thereby improving model performance and convergence across a range of applications.
In this paper, we propose a new stereoscopic video coding approach for heterogeneous consumer devices by exploiting the concept of spatio-temporal scalability. The proposed method uses MPEG-2 standard for coding the left or main sequence and an enhanced compatible coding scheme for predicting the P- and B-type of frames of the right or auxiliary sequence. The enhanced compatible coding scheme predicts matching block by interpolating both two forward and backward motion predicted macroblocks and disparity predicted macroblock. To provide flexible stereo video service, we define both a temporally scalable layer and a spatially scalable layer for each eye-view. The experimental results show the efficiency of proposed coding scheme by comparison with already known methods and the advantages of disparity estimation in terms of scalability overhead. According to the experimental results, we expect the proposed functionalities will play a key role in establishing highly flexible stereo video service for ubiquitous computing environment where devices and network connections are heterogeneous.
