흡음판이 내장된 헬름홀츠 공명기의 흡음특성 (Acoustic Characteristics of a Helmholtz Resonator with Built-In Sound Absorption Panel)

  • Many of research on noise reduction techniques have been progressed for the improvement of noise environment in subway train. There are many way to noise reduction techniques in the tunnel, but it has been reported as an alternative to attach sound absorption material on tunnel wall. For this reason sound absorption material has been studied for application of tunnel. The objective of this study is to investigate design parameters on a Helmholtz resonator with built-in sound absorption panel for the reduction of the tunnel noise in the subway. Sound absorption panel composed of the perforated panel with sub-millimeter holes and the airspace backed a rigid wall or between panels. The experiment is performed through the change of number of perforated panel, cross sectional area and the depth of airspace of the sound absorption panel under the normal incidence sound.

흡음재가 조합된 헬름홀츠 공명기의 흡음성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sound Absorption Performance of a Helmholtz Resonator Combined with Porous Materials)

  • The helmholtz resonator with the perforated neck has demerits that the absorption performance is not so outstanding in an anti-resonance frequency and high frequency bandwidth. In order to overcome these problems, in the paper, a resonator combined with porous material is proposed. The absorption performances of resonators are measured by two-microphone method and estimated by transfer matrix method. The experimentally measured values of normal absorption coefficients agree well with the corresponding values from the transfer matrix method. Because of the porous material, it is shown that the absorption performance have been significantly improved in the anti-resonance frequency and high frequency bandwidth.

도파관내의 파동산란 해석에 있어서 Helmholtz방정식의 정적 한계에 관한 연구 (On the Static Limit of Helmholtz Equation for the Wave Scattering in a Waveguide)

  • In this paper, the static limit of Helmholtz equation is discussed for the analysis of wave scattering in a wave scattering in a waveguide. Boundary integral equation method is used to formulato the scattering process in the exterior of the scatterer and finite element method in the interior of the scatterer. And hybrid ray-mode method is used to provide the Green's function in the waveguide. The proposed algorithm is applied algarithm is applied to a sample problem with arbitrary scatterer in a waveguide. The results are compared with those of static analysis.

  • 무인자율 주행시스템의 개발에는 인접 차량 유무 및 상대 속도의 정확한 검출이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 전방차량의 위치를 검출할 수 있는 효율적 방법을 제시한다. 종래 방법의 문제가 되었던 도로면상의 표식이나 그림자가 전방 물체로 잘못 판단되는 것을 막기 위해 Helmholtz shear 기법을 이용해 주어진 영상으로부터 residual disparity map을 얻은 후, 이의 히스토그램 분석을 통하여 전방차량의 위치를 효율적으로 검출하는 방법을 제안하였으며, 스테레오 카메라를 이용한 실제 영상으로 제안한 방법을 평가하였다.

  • In magnetic systems, distribution of electromagnetic force density causes mechanical deformation, which results in noise and vibration. In this paper, Korteweg-Helmholtzs energy method and equivalent magnetic charge method are employed for comparison of their resulting distributions of force density. The force density from the Korteweg-Helmholtzs method is expresses with two Maxwell stresses on the inside and the outside fo magnetic material respectively. The other is calculated using the magnetic Coulombs law. In the numerical model of an electromagnet, their numerical results are compared. The distributions by the two methods are almost the same. And their total forces are also shown to be the same to the one calculated from the conventional Maxwell stress tensor. But the magnetic charge method is easier and more efficient in numerical calculation.

Magnetopause Waves Controlling the Dynamics of Earth's Magnetosphere

  • Earth's magnetopause separating the fast and often turbulent magnetosheath and the relatively stagnant magnetosphere provides various forms of free energy that generate low-frequency surface waves. The source mechanism of this energy includes current-driven kinetic physical processes such as magnetic reconnection on the dayside magnetopause and flux transfer events drifting along the magnetopause, and velocity shear-driven (Kelvin-Helmholtz instability) or density/pressure gradient-driven (Rayleigh-Taylor instability) magnetohydro-dynamics (MHD) instabilities. The solar wind external perturbations (impulsive transient pressure pulses or quasi-periodic dynamic pressure variations) act as seed fluctuations for the magnetopause waves and trigger ULF pulsations inside the magnetosphere via global modes or mode conversion at the magnetopause. The magnetopause waves thus play an important role in the solar wind-magnetosphere coupling, which is the key to space weather. This paper presents recent findings regarding the generation of surface waves (e.g., Kelvin-Helmholtz waves) at the Earth's magnetopause and analytic and observational studies accountable for the linking of the magnetopause waves and inner magnetospheric ULF pulsations, and the impacts of magnetopause waves on the dynamics of the magnetopause and on the inner magnetosphere.

가변 헬름홀츠 공진기가 다기통 디젤기관의 체적효율에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Tunable Helmholtz Resonators on the Volumetric Efficiency in a Multi-cylinder Diesel Engine)

  • The volumetric efficiency is significantly affected by the behavior of pressure wave in induction system and exhaust pipe. By the motion of the piston, there exist pressure fluctuation in induction system which produce waves. Waves are propagated along a pipe bi-directional as they propagated through it, making compression wave and rare-faction(expansion) wave. These wave phenomena can affect to the volumetric efficiency. As a method of improvement of the volumetric efficiency, fuel economy and pollutant emission reduction particularly in low engine speeds, a side-branch additional tunable helmholtz resonator on the secondary pipe of intake system is proposed by use of their acoustic vibrations. Some of results are presented which deal with their physical phenomena for the wave action of intake system in a four-stroke three cylinders diesel engine.

  • An alternative formulation of the Helmholtz integral equation is derived to express the pressure field explicitly in terms of the velocity vector of a radiating surface. This formulation, derived for arbitrary sources, is similar in form to the Rayleigh's formula for planar sources. Because the pressure field is expressed explicitly as a surface integral of the particle velocity, which can be implemented numerically using standard Gaussian quadratures, there is no need to use Boundary element method to solve a set of simultaneous equations for the surface pressure at the discretized nodes. Furthermore the non-uniqueness problem inherent in methods based on Helmholtz integral equation is avoided. Validation of this formulation is demonstrated for some simple geometries.

헬름홀츠 공명기의 흡음성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Acoustic Absorption Performance of a Helmholtz Resonator)

  • A helmholtz resonator has been widely used for the purpose of suppressing the low frequency noises propagated from various heat and fluid machineries. However, the conventional resonator has demerits that the effective absorption bandwidth is narrow and the absorption performance is not so outstanding in the only limited configurations of neck and cavity as well. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a resonator with perforated neck is proposed. The absorption performances of the resonator are measured by two-microphone method and estimated by transfer matrix method. The measured values of normal absorption coefficients agree well with the estimated values. By introducing the perforated plates at the neck of a resonator, it is shown that the absorption performance have been significantly improved.

  • 본 연구에서는 하이브리드 로켓에서 발생되는 대표적인 불안정성 모드에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 연소 불안정을 유도하기 위하여 연료 전방 및 후방에 다이아프램(diaphragm)을 설치하여 연소 실험을 수행 하였다. 길이방향 음향 모드(Longitudinal Acoustic Mode)와 헬름홀츠 모드(Helmholtz Mode)의 이론 모델을 사용한 주파수 계산 결과와 FFT 분석을 이용해 얻은 실험 주파수 비교를 통해 해당 모드를 찾을 수 있었고, 이론 주파수와 실험 주파수가 유사함을 확인하였다.
